Africa is a rich continent endowed with natural resources but from the onset Africa is set up to fail. Could it be the geographical location of Africa? Africa as a continent shouldn't be struggling because it has various types of mineral resources that can turn Africa to one of the strongest continent in the world. The population is huge,there is knowledge etc. But like i said earlier it was set up to fail by those who claim to have discovered Africa. If African leaders think outside the box then surely Africa will become one of the best. Imagine Africa as a continent is using one currency to trade amongst themselves.

Greedy leadership is what I will point to as a problem in major countries in Africa, the leadership have been passed down in some area in the disguise of a free and fair election but of course, we know the truth. The resources in Africa as a continent is abundant, then the countries themselves have enough to sustain their citizens but because of the greed those in power have, they deliberately stall development. For a country to develop and progress, it citizens must call out and hold who they elected to lead, accountable but because everything is done anyhow, the politicians in question also escape justice and accountability as well.

It is ridiculous even for you, who may be an African, that doctrine should not be in your mind, but it is also interesting because it may be a form of consciousness in your brain in realizing a sentence that should no longer confine you all to feudal thinking, or an intentional logic in the form of resignation to the conditions that afflict you there.
There is no place or group or region that is destined to experience bad conditions, if it exists is a form of injustice in my view, the simple answer in the teachings I once received "a group will not change unless they change it themselves" broadly speaking you have to get up, the first thing in the national movement is to improve education, because an educated person will definitely have knowledge, whether he makes a solid economic and political system or makes new innovations for the development of technology, that's what should have been raised earlier. I see the reason he said that African countries are designed to fail. Colonial powers didn't consider the cultural and religious beliefs of different African tribes before creating countries. When you bring different tribes together, there will always be conflict. Most of the civil wars and conflict we face in Africa have religious or tribal undertones. Some tribes wouldn't have been brought together into a country.

All hope is not lost. African countries need sincere and strong leaders.  Leaders that are detribalised and have no religious affiliations. The Chinese leadership and economic style will be appropriate. Good leaders would invest in education, and citizens will become productive.

I don't think that African countries simply design to fail even we still see significant influence of colonial powers in Africa. Diversity is not always necessarily the problem. My country has 600 ethnic groups and 1,300 tribes, 5 religions and 1 belief system with the philosophy of my country is diverse yet united. So diversity not the cause of failure. I think Africa lack shared national identity which show that Adrica 's institution fail managing diversity fairly, actually it is not correct but many normalized it because the primary and majority supporters usually belong to the same ethnic and tribal groups.

I also see that conflict that appear tribe vs tribe or religion vs religion usually has deeper root such as power struggle, fight for acess to resources, economic inwquality, weak state institution, etc. So ethnic and religious identity then used as a tools to mobilized mass, public perception for personal or group interest.

That's right, no one will waste time in another country if you don't expect some kind of benefits. The Britain are mostly into Africa for economic benefits and I think it's clear right from time but I don't think saying they influence terrorism or are the cause of the instability in some Africa countries, no one is sure about that so it's not right to accuse without evidence, it's serious accusation.

We can't place all the blame on the foreigners because even our leaders are not helping out, they are making the whole situation worse for us. The poor governance and corrupt leadership is affecting us big time and play a part in the instability.

To be realistic, Africa was outsmart but that was many years ago. It's now unfair to continue blaming them for our failures. The continent is poorly managed by the respective leaders of each country in Africa. The only reason we keep blaming the West is because we are not ready to develop but we find that as perfect excuse to remain where we are.

The number 1 thing we should consider when thinking if Africa should be a bigger continent is the level at which corrupted leaders are not ready to accept the fact that it is possible instead they prefer to worship those are who colonized us, thtbis where the weakness start from and it has become the power they have over us and they know if they don't give us what we want we would not complain because our leaders are eating and getting fatter while the citizens are suffering. Africa leaders are well known with greediness, because when it comes to resources the African continent has many minerals resources that will sustain them without seeking for loan from another continent. But African leaders today privatize many of these resources, and do export crude to refine instead of them refine it in Africa and be using money to build youths and empower graduates.  African leaders are one of the biggest setbacks today, once they occupied public office it became their avenue to steal what is made for the public to their own personal gain. If there were not colonial masters in many part of Africa, it might be worse than how it is today. Their existence played a good advantage to many African countries but where there is an advantage, you know there is a disadvantages. However, I will tell you that the advantages is far more than disadvantage we do point fingers most of the time.

Some people condemned colonialism that killed tradition but that same tradition were doing some terrible things, like you killing of twins, that existed for many generations before they were abolished, there are many that are off topic that I can't mention here.

Most of the resources we complained about, it's the colonial masters that were able to identify about the existence, they explore them and in exchange for money they not were not even returned to people, rather were used for development. Go and look at projects created before most of the countries that experience colonial era, the projects still stand while the ones your government created are broken. The colonial masters left and gave independent to Africans and everything turn to shitty places.

Some of the resources we complained about, the government has taken long loans on them on them in exchange for money they have spent. When I think some of the actions of the government, I think the leadership is full of daft people.

The fact that people talk like they don’t know what is the reason behind all this shit makes me wonder if we just talk for talking sake or we really mean what we are saying, basically you can see how much imperialism and Neo colonialism is causing and people still want to say that Africa as a continent is the cause of its poverty? Africa is a very rich and blessed continent which I'm very sure you know and just as the first responder said, which I agree is that we truly lack patriotic citizens and yes our leaders take a greater portion of the blames but generally, we all as Africans need to be patriotic to be able to build our continent the way we would want it to be.

Obviously, the colonialists are the primary reason why Africa became poor, but this is because the colonialists conquered the land. What do the African leaders do in response to the conquest? They could have chosen to resist the enslavement of their people, but instead they chose to sell out and be corrupt. It is primarily Africans who tortured other Africans, not white men.

No doubt, mismanagement and corruption is there. But let's think critically, most African countries are still held in the shackles of their colonial masters  —and it's really really sad.

Let's take a look at what happened in Burkina Faso. After Traoré seized power, he immediately stopped supplying raw gold to France and it was crazy how they generated much more money than they did in the past.
The exact same thing is happening in Nigeria. Nigeria has all the capacity and capability to refine their oil and gas and export them as finished goods, but what do they do instead? They export raw product and then import refined ones—isn't this the definition of stupidity and madness. Do you honestly think that this was done out of pure ignorance? We are still slaves to our colonial masters, but this time not in human slavery but economical slavery.

The colonia master initially came not to show us the light—trust me, they aren't that generous—they came for our natural resources, and they wouldn't have left until they had a firm grip on the country, which they did. When Troaré started his takeover, he immediately removed the military forces of France from the country. The Western and European countries were all agitated, there was serious panic from so many African countries who are still in the colonial shackle and slavery, because their slave masters have whispered in their ears. Most African countries are still slaves.

So...don't tell me our forefathers had made mistakes that we should do better now— hilarious. We are still in a contract with our slave masters, established by our forefathers.

We cannot begin to measure the wealth of Africa in terms of what they have as natural resources, from arable lands to natural deposits such as oil and gas and even rare earth metals amongst others. Burkina Faso is a good case study. Under Captain Ibrahim Traore leadership we have seen the country progress in economic strength and  GDP. The now prioritize home made products over importations and this alone is enough prove that all African countries need to tackle poverty is to have good and accountable leadership. The natural resources owned in African countries are controlled by top leaders and stakeholders which make development stunted with no future direction in view. If only accountability becomes the driving force of African leadership we might not see growth no matter how much we desire it.

Yet, we can not stand our feet. Do you know why? Because you have corrupt leaders that are benefiting from being subordinate to western nations.

Our leaders are in the position to make the change but they will not. Either we hold them accountable or stop blaming the colonials for a mistake that's more than many decades ago.
