As said for dust attacks, you'll only fall for it if you copy your address upon sending through your latest transactions.

Thats not the real goal of the dust attack.  You are confusing a classic dust attack with an address poisoning scam.

Actual dust attacks send tiny amounts of crypto to your wallet to trace your UTXOs, link your public addresses together, and deanonymize your identity.  You dont fall for it by copying an address, you fall for it by spending that dust in a future transaction and combining your inputs.
Thanks man, I have mistakenly said about the dust attack and you're completely right about deanonymizing the privacy of the user.

I was pointing out about the address poisoning. I stand to be corrected and I have already edited what I have said as it was about address poisoning.

Either way, both carries risk and every user has to be aware of these attacks to avoid falling for such.

Since you know all these, what about those who do not, and are likely to fall victim?

In every mistake, there is a trail for scammers, and if more mistakes are made, it increases the probability of getting approached by scammers.

The aim of privacy is refusing to put ourselves in a state where we become vulnerable to different attacks.

Nothing!

The address is own by the exchange.
I don't see the OP stating that the address entered into his portfolio table is an exchange address; did I miss it? If I'm not mistaken, when a user adds an exchange portfolio, they don't need to input a specific wallet address (I believe I've tried an app like this before).

If a scammer knows that an email is linked to an address holding $7k worth of Bitcoin and considers that amount significant, they might attempt various phishing attacks. These could involve varying scenarios and timing, as they would also need to guess which wallet app you use in order to convincingly pose as an official representative.

Does wallet addresses alone carries some risks when they aren't empty and exposed this way?
If I was you I will panic about recieving this message but I will take the following steps of moving my coins to another safer wallet not linked with my exposed email to forestall any form of flaws that has already been made through the exposure of my email address. Be

ecause I know for a certain that just by my wallet address alone I do not face any possible risk of a phishing attack to my wallet but it can be done through email clickable messages.

OP, the only time you should get worried is when you start receiving OTP notifications to that email you signed up with. It means someone is attempting to hack your email and possibly see if you've your seedphrases saved there. Otherwise, ignore them. It's a phishing attempt.

You’re very correct, OTP notifications that you didn’t request for can be a serious warning that someone is trying to enter your account. But if it’s just random phishing message, it’s better to ignore it and never click in any link or even share your Details.

Coinmarketcap, Coingecko, Cryptorank platforms ask for an email because they need to log in first to create a portfolio, until now they have not found a decentralized one, they have found someone in X to create a portfolio in a spreadsheet but for me they still do not understand about coding prices in those tools.
That is what they want you to believe. There are many ways people can login without email. Codes can be generated for individuals.

They simply just don’t want to make it decentralized that’s why they ask for Email it’s has nothing to do with trying to login and even at this I have repeatedly advise others that once it’s about email then a burner email can be created and that’s all. I haven’t used the CryptoRank portfolio before but I am very sure the addition of wallet addresses wouldn’t be compulsory like the email needed. OP wasn’t privacy conscious while throwing away his address just like that.

One danger I actually think that attackers will try to take out is if the address is actually associated with any centralized exchanges and they could actually start sending phishing emails inform of those exchanges to OP but if OP used a burner email then he would easily know it’s phishing attempts

The question in mind is if your address is know to hold $7000 worth of Bitcoin and alternative coins is there is possible dangers that I should be on the lookout for?

Does wallet addresses alone carries some risks when they aren't empty and exposed this way?

Wallet addresses aren’t originally linked by emails. In the process of a wallet creation, you are never required to have it linked with an email.

You only use email registrations when creating accounts on custodial sites like exchanges and that’s where your emails when compromised can be a real issue.

In situations such as described in the OP, you aren’t visibly in any harms way.

Also be careful of dusk attack and address poisoning. You should read about the two. Check and recheck the addresses that you are sending coins to before sending the coins.

Also be careful of phishing attack which Upgrade00 has posted above.
And also this malware called the clipboard malware or the clipboard hijacking malware, that’s also something for every newbie or newcomer in the space to take a look at. You know it’s just crazy how these scammers keep coming up with several attempts and schemes and if you’re not careful, even without willingly releasing sensitive information and data to them, they still somehow manage to get a hold of them.

Your wallet address bring exposed does not bring you any closer to that. The malware can be sent through the knowm email address but if you do not click on it, you're safe.
Since the email address is known to be compromised by the op any email received on it should be considered as a scam attack.

An exposed wallet address should not pose a danger to the assets you own. I am actually more concerned about your exposed email address. Your email address might be connected to many sites that you frequently visit. Be careful with potential hacking of your email. Enable two factor security for accessing your email and devices, and also pay attention to incoming emails. Do not open incoming emails carelessly to avoid unwanted events. If you feel uncertain, you can transfer your assets to another wallet address.

I would be more concerned about somebody's private information being lost, as opposed to some hacking of the wallet. The only information that is visible on a public address is what has been put on-chain, however as soon as it is associated with an email or other identity, it becomes a lot easier to create a profile of a person's transactions and spending patterns. This information can then be used to make future phishing or social engineering attempts appear a lot more convincing. I'd not be in a rush to panic and move money just because an address had been leaked but I would not associate the same address with more information than I needed.

Did you read what people have been posting on this thread before you posted this? If you read it, I do not think you will not make this kind of comment. Or if you make this kind of comment, you will still add warning that he should avoid phishing attack and address poisoning that it might result to.

OP just exposed himself without knowing, anyone can no track your wallet address to your private wallet address where you kept your $7,000.

Be careful what you say online, this forum is still a public place, something can lead from one to another someday and people will know who you are.

I've made friends on this forum already, imagine me coming out to say that I have this amount of money, ordinary email address can expose your real identity, let's becareful.

Isn't email linked to a phone number? In this case, there will be risks of SMS codes being intercepted if a hacker manages to gain access to the email. Again, the hacking scenario will be linked to a phishing attack. Today, hackers skillfully redirect SMS codes using social engineering to their advantage. And if they manage to "persuade" you to go to a phishing page, you will most likely reveal your IP address, which will show your approximate location. If the question arises as to whether it is necessary to use email, then you should also stick to using separate email addresses for different needs, so that hackers won't be tempted to try to hack your social media accounts or other places on the internet using the email address they obtain. Quite often, email addresses are required instead of logins, and many people forget about the complexity of passwords, overlooking the fact that their accounts (which seem unimportant) contain a lot of personal (additional) information.

Advice:
Do not use emails on these sites. I always avoid using email and I do not set up any portfolio. I am wondering how some people like portfolio of a thing. I can easily know the coins that I am having.
A little bit of breaking down from what I understand and why I feel your advice should work, is that most hacks don't start from blockchain, they started from exchange like ByBit ,Binance Security Alerts on emails with fake link which drain your wallet…from what it looks like there is never a leaked email link to it, no pushing e-mail, no data leak if the site gets breached.
In the screenshot shown above, you could see where it boldly stated that "Our investigation confirmed that an attacker was only able to view data and had no ability to modify it". And from that statement alone, it clearly means that the platform was bleach. But however, "Cryptorank.io" is not a blockchain, but rather it is a crypto analytics and research tool. whereby you can be able to view the price of different cryptocurrencies, check its details and history and also set an alert to get notify when the coin reaches a certain amount that you set on it. And the good thing about this tool is that most of these features can be viewed even without registering to put in your email, which is what i think @Charles-Tim meant.

This is the part that's making me confused. You don't necessarily need to add email and your wallet address on the platform to get update on the market movement. The email and wallet is an additional feature which you can completely bypass to use the platform. It's similar to Coingecko and that's how it work too. If you want to attach email for such platforms for promotional or other updates, you should create a separate email for that purpose and never use your main email address. There's no reason to connect your main wallet to such sites unless you careless about your security.

The question in mind is if your address is know to hold $7000 worth of Bitcoin and alternative coins is there is possible dangers that I should be on the lookout for?

Does wallet addresses alone carries some risks when they aren't empty and exposed this way?

Actually, what Upgrade00 explained at the beginning was very clear. Our crypto wallet address being exposed, even if it contains a lot of assets, will basically remain safe because of the public and transparent nature of blockchain. So anyone can see your total assets and transaction history, but they can't move your funds without your private key.

There might be risks, but they're small because it's not direct theft like if you store it on an exchange and then your email gets publicly exposed. That would be much more dangerous because emails are often connected to many services and can become an entry point for hacking, especially since you might get lots of emails if you click on random stuff, which could lead to losing your assets. So when your email is already exposed and you feel uncomfortable, it's better to move your assets to a new more private wallet address.

There is no risk if the address is published, but if the person behind the address is published, then it may carry a big risk and if the gmail is published at the same time, then it is an even bigger risk. Many fraudsters or hackers will force you to make such a mistake due to which he may be able to hack your gmail or mobile and know all your information. If you take a picture of your sheet press or give it to someone, then maybe the hacker can easily get your sheet press and if he gets the sheet press, he will be able to steal your holdings.

If someone recognizes you that you have Bitcoin, then he can kidnap you and steal Bitcoin from you, etc. This can put your personal life and family at risk.

With the email the cryotrank account can easily be linked to the ops and besides being concerned about wether if your funds in wallet can be stolen, what is more detrimental is the privacy of the identity behind the wallet, scammers can make extra investigations on the wallet get it connected to your exchanges, and then your identity which leads to targeted attacks most especially when there is large funds in the wallet.

Wallet exposure in public is as risky as your email too, but just that the risk of wallet exposure can easily be minimize and manage as compared to the risk that comes with email, but we can't become careless about the two when it comes to wallet usage don't repeat your wallet twice make a new one for each transaction.

Yes, exposing your wallet could pose a danger to some extent, especially when you are not being mindful of how they could attack through it. Firstly, firstly I don't see any reason why I should be exposing my wallet address to the public when I am not sending it to someone willing to perform a transaction with me.

There is no free bitcoin anywhere, so don't expect anyone to randomly see your wallet address and have the mentality of sending you bitcoin for no reason, dust attack an address poisoning are the most common threats that people don't know come with exposing your wallet address.
