If we talk about investing in Pakistan even Rs 1lakh PKR could make a big difference . Yesterday i attended a financial literacy session. The speaker showed us what Rs.100k PKR could have grown over the last 25 years if invested in different ways. If you had Rs 100,000 in 2001, where would you have invested in?
I usually don't like talking about the past and money because asides the decision you made, you also have to look at the different contexts behind why you made that exact decision. So since I can't talk about the past, for me right now if I had a load of money stacked up right now, I would invest in real Estate, well because it's something I'm already somehow doing right now and I know how much more I can get from investing in real Estate especially in my country. Also I will also invest in my assets, growing it at a pace that the money can sustain alongside the journey I am already on, because I also believe in returns and financial freedom it gives me overtime.

If we talk about investing in Pakistan even Rs 1lakh PKR could make a big difference . Yesterday i attended a financial literacy session. The speaker showed us what Rs.100k PKR could have grown over the last 25 years if invested in different ways. At first he talked about keeping money in the bank. For many of us it may feel safe but inflation slowly reduces its value .He gave examples that how Rs 100k PKR from 2001 could have value (or purchasing power) of only around 9 thousand PKR today. Then we looked at national savings. Rs 100k PKR could have grown 15 lakh PKR which is around 11.5% in 25 years, if we take the average rate every year. When he calculated real estate with 13% annual growth Rs 1 lakh PKR could have grown into 21.2 lakh PKR in 25 years. The Gold was more interesting . Its one tola was around 8k in 2001 Rs 100kPKR were equal to 12.5 tolas at that time. Today tola is around 465,000.It could be 58 lakh PKR today. But the biggest surprise for me was mutual funds that had given a very high return in that period , including around 430% growth. So if we invested Rs 1lakh PKR and it grew 25%, it would almost become Rs 40 millions today . Offcourse these are the past records and cannot guaranteed the same progress in future but still it was huge. it was an interesting session and made me think what is my money doing while i m not using it? If you had Rs 100,000 in 2001, where would you have invested in?
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, what made people lots of money in the last 25 years is probably not going to be what makes people lots of money in the next 25 years. There is a "slow and steady" approach that you can take investing in the stock market, but most international investors will not be putting money into Pakistan that is for sure. There are much more reliable places to grow your money compared to this high risk nation. Things like gold are often auxiliary purchases for the rich, not the primary way that they've invested. Precious metals can be good for storing household wealth in some countries, especially those that don't trust the banks. The exchange rate and currency fluctuations are going to heavily affect your returns as well, it's no good earning 25% if inflation is eroding that value by rising 40% each year.

I think it is all about investments that will be sustainable for long, regardless of the situation of the economy. But just as you said, there are certain conditions we need to consider even in the past that can sustain the investment, but the real estate you mentioned would have been profitable because it has been one of the oldest investments that keeps giving profit in almost every part of the world, and it has been profitable even now. Gold investment should have been another good option in the past 25 years. But for now, Bitcoin has joined them; it has been one of the most profitable investments in the last 10 years, and it will still be profitable in the future. And unlike the real estate and others, for Bitcoin investment, you can start with a little amount and keep accumulating your Bitcoin.

A few days ago I read an article stating that by investing 50 dollars a month in a fund for your children or grandchildren, with an average annual return of 7%, they could have nearly 250k dollars saved by the age of 30, and by the age of 60 they would have exceeded 1 million dollars thanks to compound interest on the investment. I might add that investing in Bitcoin isn’t a bad idea at all, given that Bitcoin easily outperforms 7 per cent a year and could therefore deliver higher returns in far less time. That said, it’s still by far the best investment you can make.

It doesn't matter where you've invest that money back in the past. What's more important is if you have the money and resources now, you better think of where of investing it. Always on the choice is by putting it in Bitcoin. That's a no brainer decision and people still sleep onto that idea because they look for those traditional gains, while that's a good option but if they are going to take risk why not do it with Bitcoin? just as the other assets, it's also verified and tested for several years. It's probably because not everyone can't take and attain the risk that it has.

History and the past does exists so we can learn from them, study them and try not to repeat the same mistakes we made then. When we aren’t about this and rather prefer to be sober and full of regrets over the decisions that we can’t change, it’s just a waste of time and what we ought to do with the knowledge of what was before. I am always of the opinion that, if the hands of the clock was turned anti clockwise, the lots of us would always tend to make the same decisions we made yet again as, the elements and factors that surrounded the situation at the time to warrant such decision path would still be there. So, it’s easier to move on and build from there than reflecting on the past.

Real estate is one of the investments that has proven to bring returns over time, as we all know, land doesn't depreciate, it appreciates. In less than two decades, people in my city began to realize that real estate is one of the real deal investments you can make in life. Currently, I don't have the funds kept aside for real estate, but I am trusting and believing that my profits from Bitcoin and altcoin investments in the future will help fund my investment in real estate

Parents can teach this on one condition - that they themselves understand finances and are "financially literate". The key problem is that, as far as I can tell, more than 90% of the population is not financially literate, as sad as that may sound...
Some assets can be held in local currency, and that portion can be kept in a bank. But if you look at interest rates at banks in countries with a less-than-ideal economic situation, it amounts to a loss of funds - especially considering that deposits are typically quite "long-term", and withdrawing money before maturity results in additional costs.
It’s hard to disagree that nearly 90% of people have no financial or economic education. This is a truly disheartening situation. And, as has been rightly pointed out, what can parents who don’t understand finances themselves teach their children? How can they teach their children to manage money properly? It’s impossible. What’s left to do? Start studying the material and information on your own. Engage in self-education every day. That’s the only way there’s even the slightest chance of escaping the financial trap into which the population is deliberately being driven.

Where you make investment matters now and I think our generation has learn than the old generation. There is an IPO sales that is going on in Africa for one of the largest refinery in Nigeria. Alot of people are saying people should invest and some people are saying they shouldn't buy the IPO because of their past experiences. There are some people that have invested in Banks IPO back in 2007 and today, they couldn't get their capital out of the investment. If theybhave invested in Bitcoin, the investment would be in billions today in my local currency. There is a new dimension of investments today, almost AI are taking over and it's not even a hype anymore. We are seeing new technologies that are doing well and I think a time will come that old money will make changes to their investment.

Where you make investment matters now and I think our generation has learn than the old generation. Yes right now, it makes sense but back in the past if it's only for the sake of discussion and argument, they don't matter. We all will say that "I'll put here, to this, and that, everywhere....". There is an IPO sales that is going on in Africa for one of the largest refinery in Nigeria. Too many assets to invest right now. But if the people from the past made mistakes, it's also the same right now and I think it will be more because of how vast the choices are. While the new technologies are interesting to invest with, it's no doubt that investing in bitcoin is more practical than exploring to those. And for experienced ones, they'll stay to the usual investments they've grown including stocks, banks, government bonds, etc.

Our elders have been doing the same thing for the last many years because they have invested well in their business for so many years. My father worked in his business for the last 40 years and today he leave this job. Although if you want to invest for 25 years or more, you should get a good business that will give you good profits and it will give you a lot of benefits in your future. Although I also think that I should also make a good investment. Although in crypto you can get a big benefit of investing continuously because from this you will earn a lot of good profits by doing DCA. Apart from this, there are many other businesses but you should try in which you can invest more easily or you have expertise.

I personally don't think that references from the past can do any good for the people in the present, because things work differently even in each decade, so referencing to financial investment decisions from 25 years ago and using it to educate youngsters in today's world is not the greatest idea, in my opinion. The biggest example of this is the entry of Bitcoin in between this period. If someone had invested the same amount in Bitcoin right after it was available in the market at around 2010, they could make way more than what someone would make from mutual funds from 2001.
Now, talking about the same thing again, we can't even compare investments made in Bitcoin at the initial stage with investments made in the recent times, because there will always be a huge difference in the profits one could get from now versus then. This is why, when we are talking about financial literacy or teaching people how investments can shape their futures, we should use at least newer things, so that they can understand that investing money in mutual funds at present might not bring them the same yields that they could get 25 years ago.
Though the financial market has changed over the years, the lessons from the past have not lost their value. Bitcoin is one of the best example as those who were early investors , they have made a huge amount of profit but not every investment can be compared with it. There are huge number of risks with it and people have suffered heavy losses. The main purpose of studying the past behaviour of the investment is not to repeat same mistake but the best way is to understand the risk, market cycle, patience and also the power of compounding. The return that mutual fund was generating 25 years ago, now they are not generating the return at same rate but that does not mean they have become useless. Different investments are for different purposes and not everyone can support huge amount of risk. Financial education is important and it should be combined with the past lesson to minimise mistakes
