It's a normal thing because I have experienced it countless times. However, I think it's just a matter of a change in odds that normally results in these suspended matches, because I always see something like that whenever I have a suspended match. Honestly, this situation can be quite frustrating sometimes, especially when it is already time for the match to start, you would no longer know what to do again.

I seems not to understand what you meant by the match is abandoned before it starts, because there are certain factors or conditions that will make a match that have been fixed to the either be abandoned or rescheduled for next time, such as proposed weather conditions.Because if had it been the game have already started and the weather changed, like rain falling, I'm very much sure that such weather condition can not stop or suspend the betting of alive game. Unless if the match is stopped and rescheduled to be played another day.

Sometimes other situations like heavy change in Climate or possibly fan being chaotic can lead to  a match being suspended although this is majorly common of r soccer as well, and for some other time the game is actually placed on a different status, something like delayed or abandoned, I have seen so many cases of this sort of situation with football games and for some of the time, the games are even concluded the next couple of days and then the bookmakers still add this to your bet but if it's completely suspended then your stake will be returned that's if it's a single game you played.

But the case is entirely different, if you are looking at it from a live game perspective because there are so many other factors during the ongoing match that could lead to the odd selection being suspended not the entire game itself.

Sorry, but I can never believe that a casino or bookmaker will suspend providing betting option for a particular sport or match because the odds favour only them and not the players. It can only be the other way. Among all other reasons which I know can lead to the match being suspended. Some of the Reasons you see the above occur when you want to place a bet are as follows,

1. Odds adjustment
2. Change in probability of chances
3. On pitch events
4. Off pitch events that could affect or influence results.
5. Circumstances around venues
6. Climatic factors
7. Postponed games and many other factors within and beyond our control.

I would take middle ground here. I have never seen bookmaker suspend any market simply because  odds were unfavorable to them.

However, I have frequently seen market get temporarily suspended while odd are changing. In live odds system, if any major event is detected then market status switches to suspended before odds are updated. This prevent us from placing bet at stale or incorrect price.

Therefore, in my opinion, saying bookmaker doesn't like the price would be incorrect. Primary reason for suspension is simply that bookmaker does not yet trust current price or data.
