Why are matches suspended in sports betting?

Today I was went to place a bet on a cricket match but when I am check that match on the sports book it's shows that the match had been suspended even I checked multiple sportbooks it's seem same couldn't stake on that match. : What are the reasons behind this?

By looking at this above picture here, it obviously what normally happens when you want to stake on a particular game most times, and it may be as a result of a penalty kick being given, or one side is about scoring or they just scored, if it's a football game, but take note that they may also want to change the odds of that game on live bet, so it can be for any reason, like also bad weather conditions or a football fan disrupt the game, and the stewards are trying to address that, so it's a normal thing that happens, but just have it at the back of your mind that games can be suspended on a betting site for any reasons.

Problem from where exactly? Considering that there are natural and unnatural terms that can cause such suspension event, we can still say it is a problem which it could be the platforms server error, network errors or bookie would intentionally do it on the process of odds updates.

I have barely encountered any case where bookies failed to give odd to a specific match maybe it's because most of the matches I'm interested in are popular games. As to the reason why matches are suspended you have made a good point concerning weather conditions. Sometimes it could be due to internal affairs like legal breach between parties, or probably a sensitive situation that may result to endangering any of the participants in the teams. There are lot more reasons why a match is suspended, it doesn't just have to do with players only.

Basically, there are a lot of instances in the event such as technical problem, weather, players, or the organization itself there are a lot of factors here and the casino has the rights to suspend the game and give it back your wages, there is a problem only if you didnt receive back your money once you placed.

Various reasons can influence or causes a match to be suspended just as it is well stated above by various users and that's very normal. However, i don't think its something we should panic over because definitely we aren't expecting matches to take hold in an unpleasant weather conditions like flood, unusual rain fall or heavy storm etc.

Again, there are some other important factors that can still stop a match from taken place. Like some quick emergency situation that really needs to be fix, injuries and many more. Because matches don't  just get suspended for no reason, something must have gone wrong before a match will be suspended.

I don't think you have been in the situation of where you used a large money to bet and suddenly the match now is suspended and the reason is not made known. Even if you know the reason why it was suspended, you will still panic because the plenty money that you used is on the line. That can make a gambler to be so worried and even collapse right in the spot because it is an unexpected something that took the person by surprise.

It could even be that the suspension affect the result of the bet and the likeliness of even getting the money you put inside back. So panicking is normal thing. Although it's very annoying having your games already lined out then the next thing you start  seeing a different thing all together that you didn't negotiate for. Some times players even collapse at the process when such things happened. Again, just as you said earlier there is no need for panic in stuff like this because I believe there are better way in handling it. Casinos generally handle postponed or suspended matches in pretty much the same way, they return the bet. I think that’s the fairest solution, because many players like to bet only on a specific matchday. If a match is postponed to another day, the bet would effectively be carried over as well. So I think returning the bet is the best solution. By the way, I’ve never had a situation where a bet was carried over along with the postponed match. Whenever a match was suspended, my bet was always voided and the stake was returned.

I agree with you that games can be suspended for any reason in a gambling site, but in the case of bad weather, it's mostly postpone if the game do no continue, while in other cases, the games will still continue. The casino will only suspend the odd when any of the team just scored or had any opportunities that may decide the outcome of the game.

I have experience this in the past when I wanted to bet on a live game that a particular team would win, which was 1.70 odds, but the moment I try to stake it, the odd was suspended because the team I selected just scored a goal, so after some time, like two minutes later, they opened it, and the winning odd of that team that was leading 1-0 has dropped to 1.32, so these are scenarios that may warrant a game to be suspended on a casino.

It is not like that I have seen this kinds of things first time, but on the previouse I just ignore that match for placing bet, and I got the reason is odds provider is not offering odds. But the question: What are the reasons behind this?

There are so many reasons why a match could be suspended and that doesn't necessarily mean that the bookmarkers got anything wrong with the odds, I have seen so many times that games are being suspended and it came as a result of bad weather or maybe storm that results to heavy wind blowing and to safeguard the lives of the players and speculators the match will be suspended or postponed to fixture when the weather is favorable.

Any games or matches that is suspended can still be bet on pending when they will play if the gambler is not in a hurry and he really wants to play the particular game that was suspended. So like I said there are Many factors that causes a game to be suspended which might arise from the weather, players or the football organization, I have gotten a lot of experience from suspended games and the odds still return the same as it was before the game was suspended so there's no cause for alarm when you encounter such moment.
