I don't believe that Bitcoin will surpass the gold market anytime soon, but it may happen in the future but it is unlikely to happen in two to four years. While the total market capitalization of gold is $31 trillion, the market value of Bitcoin is around $1.57 trillion. To surpass the gold market Bitcoin will have to increase in price by about 19 times. Maybe if the price of Bitcoin increases by 19 times from what it is now, it could reach $1.5 million per Bitcoin. Although we can't say for sure where the price of Bitcoin will be 20 years from now, I don't think Bitcoin will be able to surpass the gold market in ten years.

Bitcoin and gold are two different assets that have two different functions, although they intersect in financial functions as a store of value.  I can agree that Bitcoin might surpass gold market cap somewhere in the future if it keeps on climbing in price, but I do not agree that  Bitcoin can replace gold in terms of industrial function.  Bitcoin, being virtual, cannot replace any important tangible asset in terms of economic and industrial function.

Prior to this time we've entertained and heard discussions about Bitcoin being the digital gold, or being the next gold, well... There's been a lot of back and forth and discussions to argue for or against the mentioned propositions.
People frequently compare Bitcoin to gold due to their similar properties. Both have a fixed and limited supply, both are rare and the demand to accumulate them has increased at a similar pace. Hence many have started calling Bitcoin as digital gold. While gold is controlled by governments, Bitcoin's decentralised nature has always helped miners and traders.

Now comparing the two purely in terms of market price is completely useless. Both have different use cases and both are performing well. So instead of expecting Bitcoin to replace gold I would suggest diversifying your investment portfolio by investing in both.

I don't believe that Bitcoin will surpass the gold market anytime soon, but it may happen in the future but it is unlikely to happen in two to four years.
The comparison must be in a specific unit like you can not compare 1 bitcoin and 1 ounce of gold in price and say which one is more expensive. Mostly the comparison used is in market caps between gold and Bitcoin.

Quote
While the total market capitalization of gold is $31 trillion, the market value of Bitcoin is around $1.57 trillion. To surpass the gold market Bitcoin will have to increase in price by about 19 times. Maybe if the price of Bitcoin increases by 19 times from what it is now, it could reach $1.5 million per Bitcoin. From their market caps
https://companiesmarketcap.com/assets-by-market-cap/

It's realistic that Bitcoin will not surpass gold in market cap too soon like next 2 or 4 years, even a longer time like next 3, 4, or more market cycles. Because with future cycles, Bitcoin ROIs will become smaller and it will be not possible to at least double its price cycle by cycle. In far future, I believe Bitcoin will surpass gold but to rise up about 20 times more, Bitcoin will need about more than 10 more cycles while this calculation does not count for gold price growth during a same period.

That's right, and they are also different as investment assets, because one is way too volatile and unpredictable, and the other one is more stable and quite predictable when it comes to its price movements. We all know that the price movements of Gold are not that significant, which is also a reason why so many investors prefer Gold to be their primary investment asset because they don't care whether they get lower profits but they only care about their investment not losing much value in a short period.

Extreme volatility could also be a problem when an investor might want to liquidate their assets and take their investment out, because if you have invested your money in Bitcoin, and you need to take your investment out, but if the price of Bitcoin is down at that time, maybe like 30% or more, then you can't just liquidate your assets because you will lose 30% of your investment. This problem is not there with Gold, because it doesn't lose that much value very quickly.

I agree that gold is being replaced by Bitcoin. I would not want to be invested in Gold during the Bitcoin era... I have a feeling that the entire store-of-value game is about to change slowly but surely. The gold price will plunge and investments go from gold to Bitcoin.

And about time too. Gold is overvalued to the point of ridiculousness.

I understand why gold used to be so sought after, though. It was the main store-of-value in the old era.

Well this view may not capture all the happening in the market, until Bitcoin adoption surpassed that of gold because many have not gotten the knowledge of Bitcoin compared to how hold knowledge has been spread all over in the societies even children once you mentioned gold they See's it as one of the most precious asset , I not in doubt that future can hold Bitcoin to that level but the names gold have made can't be easily push outside the market as those who are yet to get them as asset are pushing to be among the holder of gold, what will make Bitcoin overthrow gold is the level of awareness and adoption it will make in the society now and in future, though the certain things that remain in life is that new technology always kick outside old technology for instance Bluetooth dropped it value for Xender possibility of gold doing same for Bitcoin is there, though stand to be corrected as my believe is centered on future not as current as we may presumed.

They are different, and I believe that people are more in love with Bitcoin than with gold because it is virtual and easier to transport than gold. In terms of privacy, I believe that gold is the best option we can use because it protects our privacy and there is no way you can hold gold and no one will know because it is a physical asset, unlike Bitcoin, which you can hold and no one will know you are holding. And when it comes to profit I will go for Bitcoin just that it might even take a longer period.

I don't even think people should consider how Bitcoin can replace gold because they are different. However, I believe that as time goes on, the number of Bitcoin holders will surpass, and this is just an assumption. Since anyone can do anything they want, I don't think it's necessary, which is why I think gold is also a good option. At this point, people should understand both before they start buying.

Gold actually has the advantage of being physical and has been trusted as a store of value for so many centuries, now and while Bitcoin offers portability, and the ability to transfer value without physically moving an asset, and I think I will only disagree on the privacy part because gold can certainly be held privately, but Bitcoin can also provide a level of privacy and it’s actually depending on how it is acquired and used, even though the transactions are publicly recorded on the blockchain so for me, what I think of every day is will Bitcoin replace gold? And have been thinking of this lately.

For Bitcoiners, of course, the idea that Bitcoin could surpass the market capitalization of gold is a dream we want to achieve, but we also need to be realistic that gold isn't an asset that just appeared a few years ago.. it's not a random asset, it's held by more countries, retail investors, and companies.. its use in various industries is also much more massive, so the demand is certain in the global market.

So even though we are optimistic about Bitcoin, I think that in the near future, Bitcoin will not be able to surpass the market capitalization of gold.. I don't know what the future will be for sure, it could be that Bitcoin adoption increases, but gold will also definitely grow.. and if Bitcoin is able to surpass it, that's great, but if not, it doesn't matter.. after all, it's too much of a waste of time if we continue to debate which one will win.

He was the company's founder and former CEO. CZ resigned in November 2023 due to a settlement with US authorities. CZ is still a significant shareholder in the company, while Richard Teng and Yi He are now co-CEOs of Binance.
CZ is like a person who still runs Binance behind the scene.
When said C runs Binance behind the scenes due to his position as the platform founder and a high shakeholder i'll agree with you, but there's a limit to what he can do due to the reasons behind his stepping down as the exchange CEO. Besides, i could remember he once said the Binance team operates independently, intending to keep building because they hire the best team.

Maybe, but he's just someone with good knowledge of finance who works with crypto experts and organized the Binance ICO on this forum years ago, so what you need is to understand the Bitcoin market. Don't believe everything most of them say because they always do many things to use their influencer power to manipulate or make people do something that will favor their crypto investment.
CZ sold his house/ apartment for Bitcoin investment many years ago, and he left Blockchain.info company after that to build up his own company Binance. To say CZ does not have enough knowledge about Bitcoin and finance will be like one of biggest misleading information when talking about this man. Before blockchain.info, CZ also worked for some financial exchange companies in Japan as far as I recall.

He launched Binance, with a successful  ICO, and distributed many BNB tokens to very early Binance users in 2017, then the exchange quickly took over leading position from Bittrex and Poloniex. Since then, Binance has never lost its leading position in cryptocurrency centralized exchange industry, and CZ as well as Binance actions usually lead this industry.
Read what i said again because i never said he didn't have enough knowledge about Bitcoin and finance.
For the record, I said he has good knowledge bout finnce, and if you dont know someone with good knowledge in finance, you can easily spot the advantage of thriving with Bitcoin, which is why he stole his house then.
The reason why Binance took over Bittrex and Poloniex is that when he worked at blockchain.info, CZ managed Asian market promotion/expansion. Every Bitcoiners will agree that in the early years of the BTC market, the asian market played a significant role.
Back to the reason why i said CZ is just another individual with good knowledge of finance, work with crypto experts and organizes their project ICO. The OP sees him as someone whose words determine what will happen in the market, and people having this belief is the reason why we see a lot of influencers causing FUD in the market.
