Since the beginning of this year we all have seen how bearish (which have also dragged some negative thoughts on investors) the market price have been and it can not be compared to how Bitcoin price was as of last year and some will agree that last year was the best to have given us 6 digits and the ATH which is $126k and ever since we saw that figure the whole market movement started falling and we still have those who are still holding till date, that alone made me to wonder, for how long are we still going to hold even when the market is dropping off more than we expected?

I wouldn't say market is dropping anymore since Bitcoin rised from $64k to roughly $77k during the past 10 days and nothing is telling about its falling in the future. So, I support those who hold their coins instead of panic selling. If they can hold them long enough until BTC surpasses the previous ATH, they will thank themselves for waiting.

Investors should normalize having to hold Bitcoin for a long time. We all know Bitcoin revolves about 4years cycle and yeah there isn’t equal duration season within this cycle but, what if there were… wouldn’t it be the right idea to expect that since we have basically 2 seasons(Bulls/Bears) in this space, wouldn’t it make sense for investors to normalize having to expect that either seasons last for at least 2years?

That type of thinking alone would build in you as a person, the patience you would need to hold and the desire to keep buying in seasons like the bears when the price is low.

The bull market comes then what happens? Do you see the majority having to liquidate their asset all in the name of taking profit? Even that too isn’t usually the case.

It’s just a psychological thing, the rush that comes with price appreciation in the bulls that our assets gains value even when we don’t withdraw. So, when the bears are actively at play in the market, it’s important to understand that it’s only for a time and the price would pump again.

Some people bought bitcoin during the last ATH, ever since then they haven't seen any increase in the value of their holdings, it might look like a bad thing but a dig into the past will show that bitcoin has hit ATHs before and has dropped in value more then it did this time, or at least in percentage value and if that didn't stop bitcoin holders then I don't see why this one should stop them now.
A new ATH will come and right now for people who are already holding the only other thing it's going to cost them is time, as long as they are willing to hold and wait they will not lose, the only way they lose right now is to sell.

What Bitcoin price did last year can not be forgotten in a hurry after making it maiden $100k price with an ATH of about $126k that got many investors happy-triggered to taking profit from their portfolio been that a price increase of that mark has never been reached at that time.

When Bitcoin price rises so high the market also turns back and make a pullback for price adjustment. Holding Bitcoin is about patience and when price drops we just have to keep hodling and top up our portfolio by buying at a discount price waiting till when price rises up high again.

There is a season for everything, and in Bitcoin investing there is a season for bull market, and their is also a season for bear market, and as at the year 2025, the Bitcoin price was bullish reaching around $126000, and since then, the price of Bitcoin has been slowly going down. However, to those who have been in the Bitcoin market for so long, what is happening now does not seem very strange to them rather they look at it as something usually, and are no longer inquisitive about Bitcoin slowly going down in Price. But as for the biginners or newbies, they try to question every downward movement of Bitcoin price, and even try to be discouraged, and such investors don't need to be blamed so much because they are just beginners.

The price of Bitcoin has become less volatile compared to when Bitcoin newly came onboard, and then price of Bitcoin could drop even drop down to about 80% or even more which made many people to be afraid of Bitcoin investing, but today Bitcoin is less bearish in nature compared before, and thereby even attracting more investors to itself from both individuals, and institutions

Bitcoin has got cycles in which it follows then to new ATH at the end of every of the cycle, last year when we saw the ATH a $126K, It was regarded as the bullish move that was to mark the end of the previous cycle, although in recent time I've seen some Bitcoin enthusiast proposing that Bitcoin may be failing in its usual cycle moves as seen before now, because the most recent Bull was said to be very fast and short. Well, i don't know how concrete that is and of course I'm yet to follow in with such perception and that is why i am making my response in the perspective of the supposed ideal situation when we get to experience an actual full Bitcoin cycle.

So if we are to go by the usual cycle we know of Bitcoin, it can be said that this is the bearish season and so we are not expecting exponential moves in the bullish direction like we would see in the bullish season, so we should be looking forward to more bearish moves accompanied with some slight bullish moves occasionally till we get passed the bear season into the halving and then back to the bull season, so for the most, you will see price fluctuate and tilt more towards the down trend thereby struggling to attain a bullish move as you may want to anticipate this time.

You're free to hold for as long as you want. This is not the first time Bitcoin has fallen very low and taken forever to get a new ATH, but what matters is it always comes back up. When Bitcoin had an ATH of $69k, after a while, it crashed down to around $19k and stayed for years before it eventually got a new ATH.
My point is, history has shown that it always goes back up, so if you're certain it will get a new ATH, you should be able to determine how long you want to hold.

Get used to volatility, Bitcoin is usually volatile. Surprisingly, next year we might be approaching a new all-time high.

2025 - $76K low - 126K high
2026 - $58K low - $81K high

What are we expecting for next year? I'm sensing 2027 to be a more bullish year for Bitcoin. I think we've been at our lowest already, whether the price will drop below $70K we do not know, what we also don't know  shouldn't affect our long term goals, Bitcoin next year might be bullish.

Are you sure about this, I know that short term investors are good at waiting for the dip before they can buy and that's because they aim at quick profit, that's why they time the market in other to buy when it has dumped, to sell when the price go up on a shortwhile.

Short term holders panic mainly when theres price drop against their expectations, this happens when they buy and the price start dropping immediately, they are not the patient type like long-term hodlers that takes every buying opportunity serious, persistent buying is the best  but we should not be tempted to buy outside our discreationary income

It's the best Bitcoin season for the mean time but the best is yet to come cause that's not the last bullish season we'll witness. Since Bitcoin is still in the correctional phase, it's not a matter of how much longer we should hold but how well have we been accumulating in preparation for the bullish season ahead.

This has to be the best summary of what's happening in the markets, "low volatility" the reason for a slow market...and honestly with all the confusion going on from all fronts..for example Iran is on fire and when word goes out that it's doing business and taking  payments in Bitcoin to threaten the petrodollar, next thing you hear is Trump want's Iran isolated and anybody doing business with them will be punished and has created more uncertainty!! For now let's not keep our hopes high because nothing on the cards to excite the markets.

As I have been watching the history of Bitcoin for a long time, the price of Bitcoin has been increasing according to the cycle, and after the fall of the price of Bitcoin, it has been rising again and after the rise, it has been falling again. However, the rise of the price of Bitcoin this year in 2025 was different from other years, because the price of Bitcoin reached $126k at a six-figure price. If we wait for the next halving to take place and the price of Bitcoin increases,
it can make it more likely to reach $300k. Not only that, the price of Bitcoin has been increasing for a long time and will increase in the future days as well. People should learn not to give up because they cant wait to their expectations. Giving up when the market is not moving in ones favour is not a good way to invest Bitcoin,  with this kind of character i doubt if it is possible for one to invest in bitcoin well. Anyone that invested in Bitcoin, I expected him or her to know about bull runs and bear markets. And when they have an idea of this, I don’t expect them to be so bothered because they know that when it is a bear market period, it is the period when the price of Bitcoin and other coins always loses value seriously and gradually recovers when the bull run is approaching.When it finally becomes a bull run, it is when the market experiences a continuous increase in the price of Bitcoin and sets another all time high. So, with all this, it should be clear that when it is not a bull run period, investors hardly make profits. And even if they are in profit, it may not be much, but just very little. However, this may be different for those who accumulated Bitcoin before the Bitcoin price went to an all time high.So, people should know that if they are after profit in Bitcoin, they have to hold for at least 4 to 10 years before seeing reasonable profit. This question would have made more sense when we were down 50% from the ATH. Now, if we are up 10% from the dip, which is not even the worst TBH, I don't think I would say, how long do I have to hold? I have been holding my coins since 2023 haha, although I sold some, but I could not sell them all. Like, they are part of my life.

I will say you should not worry about the time limit, because no one can give you a definite answer. But you should ask yourself whether your reason for holding BTC in the first place still holds up. See what has changed. Why are you asking this question?

Because it is subjective. I have no problem so far. Instead, as I said before, it is not as bearish as it used to be.
