People invest in Bitcoin for different reasons, some may be for the financial freedom they were told it promises, some for investing purposes and some for some other personal benefits and purposes which i really do not know, but primarily they are all mostly aimed at making money from it. Bitcoin has got so many financial benefits investing in it, you may as well want to explore these benefits and capitalize on any of them that best fits your financial philosophy and see that as a reason to invest, it must not align exactly with the believe of others before you invest.

One important thing i would suggest you pay key attention to as a beginner is your wallet safety or you can call it the security of your wallet, if you have that figured out, it will save you a whole lot, you will reduce the percentage of risk of you loosing your Asset at any time, if you know everything and accumulate as much units of Bitcoin as possible and fail to master the security and safeguarding of the wallet, you may end up loosing it to one small mistake, there by invalidating all your efforts to have accumulated that amount of Bitcoin. Wallet safety or security is key at all times.

Most people investing in bitcoin are doing it because they want to make profits from bitcoin investment. Inflation can also be one of the reason why some people decide to leave their money in bitcoin, if your money is in fiat currency, we know it’s going to be affected by inflation, so most people decide to leave the money which they know they won’t be using for some period of time into bitcoin investment.

And for someone just starting out, what is one important thing you think I should understand before investing?

You should know that bitcoin is not a Ponzi scheme, don’t expect instant reward after investing, you are suppose to know about bitcoin volatility, you should know that you can lose your money after investing in bitcoin, and you should learn to properly secure your bitcoin after investing in it. You are suppose to take your wallet security so serious.

That example is easy to understand. But I would like to add that we shouldn't just look at Bitcoin's past gains and expect it to deliver the same kind of return in the future. The day of Bitcoin going up thousand of times are long gone, and today market is completely different from what it was back in 2009.

Bitcoin still has a lot of potential, but be realistic about the kind of return you can expect. Bitcoin can still make some huge moves in the future, but its hard to see it repeating those crazy gains from its early days.

I agree that the exponential growth of bitcoin won't be happening now.
But it is still going to continue to grow and those gains won't be the same as before but they're still gains.
We haven't seen the peak again and the potential highest peak might have not come yet. A million they say, it's only a matter of time.

Is it right to say that there are people that invest in Bitcoin for the purpose of money laundering, well that actually happens, a lot of politicians are now using Bitcoin to whitewash the money that they steal or embezzle, the point is that everyone has different reasons why they invest in Bitcoin. There are different reasons why people invest in bitcoin , however for me bitcoin is a good store of value and it's decentralised in nature which makes it's to be far better than local currency without third party interference. Bitcoin gives it user the freedom to have full control of their assets.

You are highly welcome to the forum. While you continue to learn here, this very topic seems not to belong here, it should be at the beginners and help or Bitcoin discussion maybe instead of here. Is true that all you mentioned are part of the reason why anyone can decide to invest in Bitcoin as this has been validated and proven which is very exciting. One important thing you should understand before investing is that success in Bitcoin investment is not 100 percent guarantee, such that no should deceive you to say that, because you have or you are investing in Bitcoin that your success is sure and certain. However, there is a high possibility of being successful, you should include this to what others are saying.

Everything that is of high value, has long term profitability and long term utility case will make a best option for investment, and that's why we are seeing people investing in bitcoin. Rather than spending their hard-earned money on fiat investments, why not go for digital investment and prioritize bitcoin. Recently, I realized that most people coming into Bitcoin are people who want money, like for investment purposes, which, for me, we can't blame them; that is one of the many benefits Bitcoin can give, and Bitcoin has already proven it for all over the past years.
What's only issue is these people are too greedy that does not learning anymore how Bitcoin works, even the basics and later if they will lose money = they will blame Bitcoin.

That's really sad if they will still blame Bitcoin because once you understand the basics of BTC, only then you can invest in it, and those who start accusing and pointing fingers in a downtrend, they are not real investors, they are fake.

So everyone has a target, but BTC does not care if you have a target or not. So don't set your own targets, just move with BTC.

People invest in Bitcoin because they want to make money in the long-term.
People invest in Bitcoin because they believe that investing on it will help them achieve financial freedom, and I'm not saying that it's impossible, but for me, it's a bit hard.

In general, people invest for profit. People invest for money and they believe that they could make those profits in investing into Bitcoin that's why they're doing it. I mean is there any reason why do they invest? Technology? Nahhh!!!! Majority are here for profits, don't they?

One important thing to think if you're a newbie? Always think to prioritize learning things rather than the profits that you can make.

Profit is always there and it will not go away. Remember that there are lots of opportunities in investing into crypto, but in order for you as a newbie to achieve and get those profits, you should be equipped with knowledge and information as well, and those things that you need can be seen online. Just take time to learn it all then overtime, you can start investing into Bitcoin and crypto already.

Not everyone gets into Bitcoin just for the profit. Some use it to protect their wealth, while others use it as a means of payment...but they only make up a pretty small part. Most people are here for the money.

For example, most of us here are also in it for the profit. The other reasons are often just an excuse or a secondary concern.

People invest in bitcoin because if you compare it to banks the interest is quite higher than the banks interest at the same time , in banks there is a fee's being deduct to the money when you don't deposit, unlike bitcoin the interest is when the value of bitcoin goes up same with your money, that is converted.
But also maybe because, people are tire of money that are being hostage sometimes by the banks, when i was putting money in bank, they were so happy but when I'm withdrawing the money they have lots of questions as if they are the one owning it, and is very suspicious.

I think fixed deposits in the bank and bitcoin investments are both different. BTC is the future of currency, also known as digital gold. Investing in it cannot guarantee profit, because it has high volatility. Still, in the case of a fixed deposit in the bank, you can receive monthly interest. There will be no impact on your initial investment; your principal money will remain safe, but short-term profits in BTC are not possible. If a long-term investment is made, then good profit can be expected, even though it cannot be said for sure how much % profit you can make, but in the case of the bank, a specific % interest rate will be given based on your amount. I think of BTC as a future asset and have invested so that my future generations can benefit from it. It can be a very valuable asset in the future.

On the other hand, I have also deposited in the bank because I fulfill many of my daily needs with the monthly interest from it. There are indeed some complexities in bank deposits, such as that depositing is very easy. Still, there are many questions regarding withdrawal, rules and procedures must be followed, and there are also withdrawal limitations.

It definitely still has the potential to hit $1M, but even that would only be a bit over 12x from where we are now and it would probably take more than one cycle to get there.

I dont want to let down some people, but that's simply the fact. It is very unlikely that Bitcoin can keep doing 10x in single cycle as it did before, just like the days of 100x-1000x returns are pretty much gone. Given the market cap of Bitcoin, which is nearing $2T, it is not feasible to expect such tremendous returns from those early days.

Here you will only earn some profit annually, which is much less compared to Bitcoin. Investing in Bitcoin not only secures money but also remains completely under your control. However, most individuals who invest in Bitcoin are determined to earn money. Look at large companies like ETFs and Strategies. They invest for high profits while securing assets. Everyone may have their own reason why they invest in bitcoin, but it looks like knowing why others do so gives you orgasms 
Some may invest in it for profit making, while some may do so as a means to beat inflation, and some for the purpose of privacy that Bitcoin comes with. So it's more about interest, not just for the love of it.

The first thing to understand as a newbie investor is that Bitcoin is not a get rich quick scheme, so you must patiently build your stash of bitcoin and hold for a very long time if you want to stand a chance of achieving something great from your Bitcoin investment. And secondly, you should understand that volatility is one of the features of Bitcoin, so their is no need trying to fight it, but instead try to use it to your favour.

Bitcoin investment does not require too much capital to start up, and for most low income earners they find it more convenient to invest in bitcoin with the little amount of discretionary income available to them. Instead of looking for huge amount of cash to start up an investment, they choose to only make use of the little money they can afford and invest with it in bitcoin, it also gives them the space to be able to buy bitcoin and hodl whenever they are able to get a discretionary income especially since the DCA strategy allows them to do so. So it’s easy to say that most people invest in bitcoin because it doesn’t require them too much stress of looking for a huge amount of money to use and start investing.
