Copying competitors may not give you the best result in your business, because everyone has their own skills instead develop your own business skills, and see how you can have an edge over your competitors, this will enable you to really be ahead of your own competitors. Also when you spot any good quality or strategy that your competitors posses, instead of doing the same thing you have to improve on that very thing, and do it better than them. Also in business there are rules, and there could be danger associated with copying a competitor pattern of business without the persons permission, and when this happens legal action can be carried against you.
To do well in business, you should not only look at what your competitors are doing, but also try to understand where your own business is lacking. If you make a mistake, you should correct that mistake yourself and take good care not to repeat it in the future. If a shopkeeper does not just compete to reduce prices but also focuses on the quality of his products and customer service, he can get good results.
I do not see the way of providing service in your own way by learning from other people's good strategies and learning from them. Because a person may have many good strategies, if a new businessman learns from them and uses them in his real life, his business will be better. However, following common business ideas is not the same as using someone else's well known name, symbol, or secret business information without permission. It is more important to focus on gaining the trust of customers in addition to thinking about surpassing your competitors. Because if you make your products and practices very bad while competing, then your business may gradually suffer losses instead of being long-term.
