So which would you rather want the emergency funds to be saved in? Cause from your statement you talked about both fiat and Bitcoin having their own risk which is volatility but left for me I'll rather have it saved in a less volatile coin, although the USDT is not permanently stable but it's not as volatile as Bitcoin.
That's why I'll advised that it's saved in USDT instead of in Bitcoin cause what if an emergency situation happens when a dip happens, it might affect the purpose it intended being used for and make the investor tend to withdraw too early or use money meant for essentials to handle the situation.
Personally and I mean myself here, I’ll rather leave this money in Bitcoin rather than USDT if, I’m to go with the cryptocurrency approach in this regard. I haven’t really being a fiat guy to say the least and to have savings in USDT doesn’t resonate with me. Why? The USDT is a dollar pegged currency and it’s supposed to have a physical dollar for every USDT but, do you really think that’s the reality of the situation? I highly doubt that. Which is the more reason why, it doesn’t particularly fit for this purpose, better to have it in fiat dollar currency than USDT and the best cryptocurrency choice for me would always remain Bitcoin. It doesn’t matter if it dumps. What’s more important is that, you have funds for emergencies and this fund doesn’t have a fixed amount to it neither would the emergency you might face be worth all you’ve got or even be less at every time, it’s always going to vary and you’ve just have to learn to accept whatever situation your finances might be in when that happens.

I'm thinking about this every day. My emergency fund is separate from BTC stack.
My setup is:
- cash for everyday life in my bank account - cash for bigger purchases of daily life (for example, changing car tires, medical visits, ecc.) - cash reserve in fiat for emergencies (about 3-4 months of expenses)
The rest goes into BTC with DCA. I track all my buys with a simple offline tool i built, for keeping all in order. My "key" is discipline: don't touch the BTC and use the "fiat buffer".
The BTC I'm accumulating with DCA is for future "pension" or "something to go alongside my pension", or if things ever change radically and BTC reaches 4x, 5x, 6x of value from today, living well with it.
Ah, I can't "diversify" my fund, because I think that way is better for consistency with larger funds, not for small ones. I believe small sums of money don't make much sense to diversify.
I admire your strategy and plan and I hope that you'll become consistent with it. And IMO what you are doing is correct. If someone wants to hold bitcoin for a longer time, they have to plan it well so that the efforts that they have exerted for holding it won't be wasted. I have experienced that there have been early holdings I've made but due to emergencies, there's a need for me to do that sacrificial sale. And right now, just as have you planned I also have that future possible pension that's going to come from BTC and hopefully it takes place. Thanks for sharing your story. Sometimes life has ugly surprises, and we need to adapt, change plans due to emergencies, and rebuild with strength. I like the parallel between our experiences. We both learned that plan + discipline is the key, because discipline without a plan can be an expensive choice in some cases. My experience is similar, i saw too many BTC disappear in emergency situations, so now i'm trying to keep a good fiat buffer. But it's not always easy. Ah, and IMO, one emergency today does not write our tomorrow

Thanks for sharing your story. Sometimes life has ugly surprises, and we need to adapt, change plans due to emergencies, and rebuild with strength. Exactly, if there's no way to avoid those situations then we face it with our own resolution. And if that resolution is about selling what we hold, we have to do the harder thing to solve that life situation. Ah, and IMO, one emergency today does not write our tomorrow I agree, with the experience we have in the past the asset we get from there is the lesson. And as we continue, we apply that for the next moves we do. We then realize why they say that cash is king because it will also save the BTC holdings that we own in case of emergency.

Obviously, it does need to be stable and serves its best purpose in cases of emergencies rather than getting any profits on it but, we both know fiat isn’t stable right? Not even the dollar! Yes, fiat doesn’t experience these sharp drops like we have in Bitcoin but, it still experiences inflation and it’s either you keep adding to it as much as possible in times these inflation happens as well as all through life or you might be left with money that isn’t worth anything or solving certain categories of emergencies when it does hit.
That’s why you would find certain individuals try to be idealistic in how they make these emergency savings. It is true that Bitcoin can dump in price and that means, its value too has being reduced, creating some discrepancies on how you proceed in such cases should you have your emergency savings in Bitcoin and frankly, it would be discouraging to liquidate.
However, it’s a risk every one that chooses this path to their emergency savings must understand and be okay with. Then again, it can pump and all that wouldn’t matter.
Yeah, inflation is scary, but I think it's not as scary as Bitcoin suddenly dropping 30-50%, even 70% like in previous cycles right when we need our emergency fund. Inflation reduces our purchasing power and we may have to make up for part of it every year. But that's still not as scary as the money you need right now losing half its value just because the market is in a bad phase. I think only people who actually went through that can really understand how it feels, like @Awaklara shared above. Once again, you gotta understand that an emergency fund is there to help us deal with unexpected situation, not to take on more risk or look for profit. If you're putting them at risk, then you don't really have an emergency fund at all.

Use the Bitcoin as emergency fund for me is wrong because of the volatility and predictability of the price in the future. A emergency fund and have at least 5 months of monthly salary already is enough depending of your need in the emergency.
Opinion for me neither one asset should have 100% of your investment. Less still emergency fund.

Before doing investment or having any method some things need to be taken care of, If someone wants to have a long term strategy, then surely he can diversify his investment and then go ahead, but if someone feels he can do this in an emergency as well, he will be in trouble for this decision.Keep your weapons ready for any emergency and then invest in Bitcoin. Inflation is always keeping things in problems, so having an investment in Bitcoin gives a good return, but when you need your money for any purpose in a hurry, also keep some amount for this as well because this will give you better results and also you will be able to have peace of mind.

That's why emergency funds should always be denominated in Fiat. Especially cash. Because cash can be used offline, anytime and anywhere. It's also stable (although plagued by inflation). Keeping a reserve of cash for 6 months to 1 year would be plenty enough to survive. Bitcoin can act as Gold to protect you against inflation. But not as an immediate emergency fund when the time of crisis comes. The choice is yours.

You should never invest your emergency fund into Bitcoin.
When an individual invests every dollar that they have in Bitcoin and suddenly require cash they may find themselves in a situation where they have to sell the property at a loss during a market downturn. This means an emergency could transform into a real financial disaster.
My plan is to keep an emergency fund for emergencies and use the other funds to buy Bitcoin that I can afford to invest for years. This makes it easier to keep my cool during a market drop or bear market since I don't have to liquidate my Bitcoins to pay for the bills.
The goals of investing and preparing for emergencies are different so I think it makes sense that you keep them separate. Only invest money that you can see yourself keeping for the long term never put money in Bitcoin that you may need tomorrow. With an existing emergency fund you have greater security to hold onto your Bitcoin and can rest assured that you won't need to sell your Bitcoin when market conditions are poor.

Emergency funds are supposed to be in your local fiat currency, that's why it's called emergency, you won't have to exchange Buy Bitcoin back to Fiat because of emergency when the value of Bitcoin at the time might even be worse.
I keep most of my money in Bitcoin and when I need fiat I will convert small portion of Bitcoin into Fiat for bills and others but I did it in a way that such Bitcoin isn't in the same address with the Bitcoin that meant to keep for long term.
My Bitcoin addresses consist of Long term hold, Bills payments , Emergency fund, this is to show that I have completely removed my hands from storing money in a Bank account.

There is a contradiction in your statement . First you correctly said that the reason for keeping the emergency fund in local fiat is that you never know when an emergency will come, and you don't have to sell BTC if the Bitcoin price is down at that time. But then you say again that your emergency fund should also be kept in Bitcoin, just in a different address from your long term Bitcoin. The two things can not be right at the same time. Separating the addresses may improve accountants and discipline, but it does not change the nature of the asset. Although the long term Bitcoin , bill payment Bitcoin , and emergency Bitcoin are in three different addresses, all three are Bitcoin and all three are subject to the same market volatility. Wallet separation and financial separation are not the same thing. You have divided the bitcoin into three addresses, but you have not divided the risk into three ways. All are still dependent on the price movement of the same asset. For me long-term Bitcoin holders should keep their savings in fiat currency, which will protect Bitcoin holdings.

but keeping a large amount of cash is also pretty inconvenient. it is bulky and hard to carry or keep somewhere safe, and it also increases the risk of getting stolen. an emergency fund does not have to be 100% cash. i'd rather keep part of it in the bank and part in cash. that way, we can still secure both liquidity and convenience whenever we need it. however, no matter which one you choose, it is still much safer and more reliable than using Bitcoin as a emergency fund.

However, people can leave their funds in Bitcoin as a means to hedge against inflation, you should consider that too.
This is not a standard for keeping an emergency fund because Bitcoin is very volatile and emergencies can happen unexpectedly. Just think of it: there can be a serious drop in Bitcoin's price. However, for those who think they can take the risk to keep their emergency fund in Bitcoin, if they believe it wont be used for a very long time, they can decide to try, as long as they understand the volatility of Bitcoin and also comprehend the nature of emergencies. But anyone who wants to try this must understand what they are getting into and not do this blindly.

But anyone who wants to try this must understand what they are getting into and not do this blindly. Emergency funds should not be kept in Bitcoin, emergency funds are needed at any moment, and Bitcoin can decrease a lot at any moment due to volatility, and therefore, in this volatility, you should never keep funds in Bitcoin that may be needed at any moment. It basically becomes like trading, that is, you are basically trading with your emergency fund, and due to this type of work, you may have to face a more difficult situation during an emergency, because when the price decreases due to volatility, you will not get the full amount of money that you had allocated for the emergency, so you may end up having to go towards that loan to handle your emergency due to the decrease in the principal. And that is why I always think that capital stability is more important in the case of emergency funds, because we do not know exactly when the emergency will come, and at the same time the fund should be kept in a place that you can easily access when needed. That is why invest in Bitcoin, never buy Bitcoin with emergency funds, it can only create more problems.

Additionally, emergency funds are not the same as investment funds, and if you truly want to have a long-term investment, you must have emergency funds because they work hand in hand. If you don't have emergency funds, one of the things you will end up doing is selling what you already have. This is the mistake most people make; they don't take emergency funds seriously, and when an emergency arises, it is not better to have them so that you can keep your coin from selling. And instead of saving in the bank for emergency then it will be reasonable to invest the money into Bitcoin that is the only way you will be able to enjoy what you would have saved and then not get anything in return.

Its their money, they have every right to do whatever they want with it and call it whatever they want. But by the usual definition, they are not really keeping an emergency fund. They are just parking money in an investment with crossed finger, hoping no emergencies pop up before that investment actually turns a profits. Using an emergency fund to invest in Bitcoin is kinda like gambling with money you cannot afford to lose, imo.

I think it all depends on personal decisions and one's understanding of there financial capabilities, you may keep 50% of your returns in Bitcoin investment and may be tempted to still sell for emergencies, so I depends financial awareness. Best we can do is rearrange your finances divide it into three, invest in Bitcoin the income you feel you won't need anymore over a long period of time, keep savings in fiat or if your local currency is going through devaluation, we can always keep our money In stablecoins like one OP started in a post. Then the the last should be to Carter for our immediate needs.
Just my opinion.

Greed is the only reason to keep an emergency funds in bitcoin, the main idea for this is to make profit and nothing more.
If you only think this way when having to consider the strategies one might adopt in their bid to maximize profit while serving other purposes to be a direct link to greed, then you might be very shallow in these considerations. The possibility of having your Bitcoins transferred to an exchanged and exchanged for fiat currency through P2P systems in a matter of minutes tells you, you’ve always had that fiat with you all along. It wouldn’t even feel as though you never had it. However, people can leave their funds in Bitcoin as a means to hedge against inflation, you should consider that too. When considering any strategy that has to do with bitcoin, first thing you need to consider risk management. As long as the volatility of bitcoin is high converting money for emergency is risky and I dont see any reason why emergency fund that can be needed at anytime that you can predict be in bitcoin, this is the same kind of decision a gambler would take. Having bitcoin it is either for longterm investment or trading, and for someone who is into this and choose to convert their emergency fund to bitcoin it either as a result of ignorance or greed. Lets assume one is not trading of investing long-term but choose to keep emergency fund in Bitcoin when they have no hodling or into trading, this is just greed and nothing more.
