LG have given official statements denied the allegations that it smart TV like the OLED G5 which is an advanced LG product in the smart TV category, I use an LG Smart TV and I make sure I isolate the TV, from my home Internet placing it as a gues WiFi which limits it access to some features that keep it running on auto mode. Safety measures is preferred when using any smart devices to improve your privacy as the end user, like disabling the mic and avoid ever connecting them to your other devices like smart watches computers or phone.

I saw a post on mata board today, and the OP was talking about the forum giving moderators the access or chance of seeing people's IP address. A forum that is built to protect the privacy of everyone who comes here and now someone is suggesting giving access to people's IP address to some set of people. People no longer have privacy anymore, that is why I always say in anywhere you find yourself try as much as possible not to always talk about yourself or any of your achievements because your privacy can be invaded in many ways, there's no privacy anymore this days.
We work here in the most effective way to protect privacy, if privacy is protected, we will definitely be able to appreciate it more. LG TV does not only target privacy, you can use CCTV for privacy. In this way, you can be more secure and can capture what is being done at any time and at any moment. But anyway, in the end, we will work on protecting privacy, because our first point is privacy.

In 2026, it's funny how some people think privacy is an option, literally all out information are on the net. I saw that Newsdaddy video and I was shocked because TV isn't like phones where we store private information, am surprise how they came about that.
What am most scare of is this big companies using there data mining applications to steal our money because all my data are in my system or phone stored in drive and that can be easily hacked into

I have just watched the video link you sent, and this is very alarming. They’re doing it to make their ads more personalized? I don’t really get that part as this is unclear to me. You don’t get to track and record someone without them knowing, that’s intriguing of privacy.
LG is not an investigative company or anything close to that, are they really doing it to sell these informations and get paid or what for it? This is really bad, I hope they give a good explanation to that and gets penalized and revoke their license if this facts are found to be true.
This bad shit for those of us who have no idea about this technological feat by LG which I believe it's a violation of people's privacy right from their very home. With AI development into many of these devices we use it's going be get worse with how our privacy would be invaded without we knowing about it because they didn't think it was necessary to seek for users consent before installing such features in their devices we buy. I have read of something similar with mostjof these advance model phones devices we use nowadays how they can get our fingerprint through a snapshot of photo taken if our palm gets to be cut in the picture. It's really now getting weird trying to enjoy technology.

In today's digital world, privacy is very difficult to maintain. Every device we use collects data in different forms and people are accepting and giving permission without actually understanding what they are agreeing hat type of information they are sharing with them. But I think that we should not assume that every targeted advertisement on our phones or Tv is listening to private conversations. Most of the targeting comes from browsing activity, location data, cookies, connected accounts and other tracking methods instead of this. The smart TV we use and the other connecting devices are creating genuine privacy concerns, especially when the user does not know what data is being collected or where the data is being sent after being collected. The main issue is transparency and also giving users real control over their data. Convenience is useful in multiple ways, but it should not come at the cost of not having privacy.

Actually, is it about technology that is too sophisticated or do we feel we are being watched constantly? The existing features on the TV have increased significantly even the use of AI is already in its naturally there are guesses about this, but I myself have not seen a definite conclusion who is wrong or should we be wary? LG representatives have denied about recording data while offline, they do not collect data or record it, can this be said to be excessive? https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/09/11/lg-denies-claims-that-its-tvs-listen-to-their-surroundings-and-log-data-even-when-offline/

I also believe most of our personal information is already out there and being bought and sold between companies, we just don't know about it. Nobody really has much privacy anymore when our data is being collected and stored everywhere. As for your concern, you're not wrong. Technically, they could do it. But I dont think they'd actually dare to, because there's no reason for a company worth trillions of dollars and making billions every year to ruin itself just to steal a few bucks from its customer. Our data is much more valuable to them when they can use it to make money legally.

Today's smart TVs and phones are so much advanced that in many cases ordinary people do not know about the features they have. Even if the devices secretly steal personal information, no one will be able to understand. Maybe those who are aware of the matter adjust those settings, but most are not interested in wasting too much time on this subject. However, nowadays, A tools are so advanced that they store data about a person, what they do, what they like, etc. and thus save the entire behavioral profile of a person. The privacy of these people will definitely be at risk. It can be collected through smart devices without the person knowing. Those who are making these devices should refrain from doing this, and in the same way, they should also gain social awareness. I have heard of this before where devices secretly collect user information for the convenience of the user and later display it to the user. But this can also violate a person's privacy, which is why everyone should be careful.

The society is already facing many breach of privacy, from the apps we install to devices we use all of this makes living in today's society very scary.
No one will give you privacy except you discover this need for yourself and maintain it. It is disappointing to discover that today many will also decide on their own to share some of their personal information with the public when they are trying to entice others with their achievement and current status, neglecting the implications that may come from doing so. Once people know about your worth and abilities or things you do, they try to maneuver their way around you and track you down as long as you are one of their targets for a scam.

This has become very normal now. Whenever we discuss a product with someone or ask someone about it in inbox, its advertisement starts coming. This means that all the history of what we do on our phone including social media is going to some companies. And in many cases we ourselves also give permission for this. Especially when a new device is set up or an application is installed, we allow permission for everything including microphone, location, camera, storage. Many times we do not even read the terms and conditions carefully. So we have to be very careful about our own privacy. One thing to keep in mind while using the phone is that someone is watching us, someone is listening to us, someone is storing all our data.

I think it is highly reasonable to expect people who buy a television or making a major purchasing decisions with a device they'll be spending hundreds of hours using could check to see if that company has been properly behaving with an online search. So, the government isn't needed there if consumers use common sense practices.
I'm fully expecting the government to do exactly zero about it. What I'm doing is helping form an organization called Caroline that evaluates organizations and reports whether they are scams or not, but we could also evaluate various aspect of that organizations ethics. Any anyone here who actually wants something to change is welcome to join by doing something by expecting corrupted governments to continue behaving in a corrupt way until they are replaced with ethical processes and people.
It is a common practice to read and understand the manual of electronic appliances. Some people are also careless and don't care to read this important document. Going the extra mile to check if the appliance could be used to secretly collect data from users is what most people will not do. The government has so many regulatory bodies that should assist the public in evaluating these products. This is my view because most users don't have the skills. As you said, we shouldn't expect much from a corrupt government. Maybe reading reviews and following platforms like Gamers Nexus on social media will be helpful. Maybe you can tell more about Caroline through pm. People who distrust and monitor the government for corruption to see what nefarious deeds their up to have known about ongoing television spying over ten years. Not only did the first TV company to risk our data tell us their Samsung audio feed was getting not only streamed to them live but "god knows who" for over the internet in 2015, but two years after that story came out, the CIA was clearly helping that process along to make it worse such that the TVs would continue to stream data after they've been turned OFF! It is our civil duty to be aware of the corporations doing this, be aware of the government's role in maximizing privacy violations, and our civil duty to as you suggest check out what a company has been up to before we send them a lot of money which they can use for more evil. The ultimate goal of many to most of the people at the top of most governments around the world is to get cameras in your bedroom and bathroom pointed in directions they are most interested "to ensure they'll always make sure they can protect our children". So no, I count on these people to violate rather than protect my privacy, and my expectations have only been rarely surprised. For example, this year they are trying to figure out who is a child and who isn't "for their protection". And by protection, they mean screen out children they can take away from the parents and get into their bedrooms for a while for sex education purposes. I think privacy is very important in this day and age.We consider privacy protection very important so effective and best measures need to be taken to protect it.If personal information and things are kept safe through a security system then the chances of its misuse are reduced. Nowadays cameras are also used for surveillance which help in the protection and surveillance of a place. If any problem arises and is needed we can see with its help.Cameras are also useful to many people these days. Just as people have installed them in their homes offices and many other places for their safety l similarly technology should be used responsibly so that people's private lives are not affected. It is important to take care of the privacy and needs of any person.

Right. Smart TVs do track what you watch, but social media reels usually exaggerate this stuff for views. They use a technology called automatic content recognition. It scans pixels on your screen to target ads based on the shows you watch. It is built into smart TVs, not just LG.
The real privacy risk is not secret spying - it is the data you willingly agree to let them collect in the terms of service. You can go into your TV settings, turn off ACR, disable voice recognition, and turn off personalized ads. That shuts down most of the tracking right away.
I was about saying the same words but in a different form. I was wondering why single out the brand "LG"; why not generalized it to all smart TVs. I was wondering if it was a deliberate attack on the LG brand. But if it were, LG company should rise against it with a counter publication. I don't know if they have already done. I understand how exaggerated social media reels are and it has already gone viral. I still understand that the concerns raised are quite amazing and believable.

People don’t longer have total privacy, a lot of things are going wrong and no one is actually talking about it when it comes to peoples privacy. Content creating and the money they make from it has now caused a lot of people to lose their privacy. I usually don’t like when I see invasion of privacy in the name of content creating, it is very bad people should learn to stop invading peoples privacy all in the name of content creating or any other thing they are doing.
Things that are supposed to be privacy are now in the open and people are seeing it as nothing wrong or bad, I think there should be a law that will safe peoples privacy, I know there is laws already made to handle that but I think some amendment should be done to cover everything concerning privacy.
I don't think that creating more laws is going to completely provide the solution. The main problem is how people are using media and technology. Content creation is not the problem but there are content creators who are making useful content and providing useful information without posting their personal lives on social media. But on the other side, there are content creators who are sharing people’s private lives without taking their consent just to gain followers, generate views and make money. But we should also he careful and make the Laws so strict that they start restricting legitimate journalism, public interest reports and people who share useful content from which people are getting benefit. Existing laws are okay they just need to be enforced and there should be public awareness. People should understand that when they share information online, then they will become public and can be shared without having any control.

I've come across similar news sometime last year. T
his particular one was for iPhone users and Samsung smartphone users. The mobile devices record conversations that later transmit signals for personalized adverts. The thing is, privacy will soon be a thing of the past because no home can function without a smart device. In fact, the modern houses are built to become smart homes. Smart doors, smart switches, smart interior designs, everything smart.
How do we cope with privacy when we cant do without these devices?

The society is already facing many breach of privacy, from the apps we install to devices we use all of this makes living in today's society very scary. Everyone knows by now how you could be discussing about something the next moment you are on your social apps you get shown products and content relating to what you were earlier discussing. But this latest news is wild and if you use an LG TV or any TV at large you need to check this. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DdChJ3fPlbU/?stkn=MTlnMGE5aXkza3VtZg== so news daddy a usual news content creator made this post and in it you can see how the LG is multitude of homes, offices, hall, airports and so on are prospective soy devices that can pick up sounds and even connect to devices amongst other things, this is another huge level of privacy theft in today's society. Well I guess we have to look at the bright side of it, which is convenience and perhaps data tracking is the small price to pay for the premium modern lifestyle we so much crave. If you as a social person, want a TV that automatically and seamlessly connects to your phone, updates your apps and also goes as far as making perfect suggestions of movies for you based on your mood, then it has to collect some information about yoy so it can understand your thoughts. So if you look at it purely in that manner, then you can say the tech companies are not using the data to rob your house but using it to make the software operate smoothly.

Nah, I can't think of a silver lining. They can gather some simple information to help improve their products, I have no problem with it. It's ok, as long as it is transparent and users agree to it. Secretly collecting data when users don't even know or agree to it ain't convenience. That's stealing, fooling people and invading their privacy. If they secretly took important stuff like your bank account details, private pics...I bet you wouldn't call that convenience anymore.

Often people unaware that their data is being collected or that they might be overheard fail to adjust their permission settings. While it is not the case that someone is constantly listening to or watching you or actively transferring your data from one company to another it is still important to remain cautious in these matters. Conversations held on the phone do reach the company but it is unlikely that anyone is specifically listening to them no one has the time nor is there any personal vendetta against you.Nevertheless remain vigilant regarding digital technology as a single wrong click can expose you especially considering that your mobile phone contains so much of your personal information.
