Yep, for the most part, altcoins tend to follow the trend set by BTC. In this regard, ZEC and HYPE can be considered exceptions. In fact, investors who put money into these altcoins earlier this year were able not only to weather the peak of the bear market but also to turn a profit.

Have you forgotten that bitcoin is not always in the bullish season? Bitcoin a coin that observes seasons, and right now bitcoin is in the bear season, so you don’t expect that the prices will keep performing well all year. If bitcoin hasn’t performed well this year, it is justifiable, because bitcoin is in a bear season. Also the coin that has don 25x this year, can it sustain that tempo for long if bitcoin don’t move along with it? Besides we have always longed for a market were the Altcoins will perform independently without relying on bitcoin price movements. If that is happening already, then it is a big win for all Altcoins investors.

According to CMC, Ethereum price is rising to $2,647 today. Bitcoin is also returning to above $81k again. It is getting far from $75k, the market looks still having the power to rise more. However, the market trend sometimes can be unpredictable. So, we must anticipate whatever the possible change in the future. Just don't be too optimistic with the current uptrend!

Ethereum price has dropped to around $2,5k and Bitcoin has dropped again to $80k. It was just temporary, now both Bitcoin and Ethereum looks starting to increase again. I'm not sure hw far Bitcoin and Ethereum will rise in the near future. I guess ETH may try to reach $2,8k and Bitcoin to reach $83k-$85k level.

In this case, ETH will almost certainly follow the trend currently being set by BTC. So as long as BTC is showing a bullish trend, we should expect the same from ETH.
By the way, BTC is already above $86k, while ETH is above $2.7k. Most likely, once BTC reaches $90k+, ETH will attempt to test the $3k level.

It's great. But ETH is still far below its ATH of almost $5k per coin. If you held ETH in 2021, you'd still be at a loss today. You're only looking at the short-term market performance. But long-term? ETH sucks real bad. Same goes for other altcoins. Bitcoin, on the other hand, continues to increase towards "infinity and beyond".

At least, ETH returning towards $2.6k is a good sign for those who bought at lower prices. Better take advantage of each dip to buy some cheap ETH before it goes back up again. Buy low, sell high. I'd pay close attention to the market, just in case.

Totally depending on Bitcoin's movement. If bitcoin still relatively stagnant, ethereum can catch up bitcoin quickly because it goes up in term against bitcoin pair. However, ethereum dominant can go back lower if bitcoin is pumping a lot.

As you can see from the chart above how ethereum faced a significant growth against bitcoin pair, but it's dropping quite a lot when bitcoin faced a shortterm consolidation due to the rumor about rate hike.

So many altcoins are outperforming Bitcoin right now and will continue to do so for the rest of this bull run.

It's obviously no. How can you think altcoin can go up without bitcoin trigger the bullish trend first. The bull trend of altcoin will come just after bitcoin has done a pump, then it's entering the consolidation phase.

Do you forget the rule if bitcoin is ruling the crypto? Altcoin would not be recovering if bitcoin would still stay between 50k - 60k range.

It's bitcoin that is driving people to FOMO after it's growing pretty significantly from 60k close to the 87k.

So it drives people jumped to the alts after bitcoin reached the consolidation area, which was triggering massive pump to happen.

Beside that the pump for alts always be based on the previous ath. You won't see alts to be pumped 20x or more except it's meme or getting manipulated by some big MM.

An altcoin I hold called Quant is up 100% in the last 7 days.

And Bitcoin over the last 7 days? It’s up less than 10%.

This is the point I am making, during bull run many altcoins are going to well outperform Bitcoin.
