[Suggestion] Pin a single thread for bitcoin investment discussion.

Well, as the topic suggest, I've noticed that majority of the threads created lately in our local board is somewhat related to bitcoin investment. I am not saying it is bad to post about bitcoin investment but the same idea, opinion and questions tends to be repeated every time. Sometimes it feels a little bit off to read similar things over and over again in different threads.

Wouldn't it be nice to create a unique thread just for bitcoin investment related discussion? Newbies can ask questions relating to investment and experienced members can answer the questions. I believe the local board will look less spammy if such topic is created. What do you think?

There is a thread for it which is hodl (naija).
I think we can be discussing about it on our hodl (naija) thread.

The thread is a bit deserted.

But there may be some investment topics that may deserve a new thread if some latest things are there and some can be very unique but it does not have to be often as it is now.

Are you by any chance suggesting we have a mega thread in this local board? I don't support that because it will become a ground for spamming. Instead of that, you can recommend one of the topics that explain Bitcoin investing and request for the moderator to pin such thread. Although I don't even see this as necessary because Bitcoin investing is a broad topic that new ideas will always emerge from time to time. To help the moderator, we can simply report repetitive topics to him to lock them away in archives.

No matter how the thread might look similar, some of the authors always seem to add new things or their own ideas on their own Bitcoin investment-related thread.

Personally I will suggest; instead of a mega thread (aside from using the HOdl NAIJA thread) mentioned above, I would prefer a scenario where once such a thread appears on the local board after a few discussions, the moderator should lock the thread to reduce the repetition of the same thing which has been said on other threads.

I have seen moderator locking up topics believed to have served it's purpose and this is how it supposed to be not growing a mega thread that will harbour repeatitive posts. We have another thread in the politics and society sub board of our local board on Balancing Financial security and Bitcoin accumulation which is already turning a mega thread and we see how things are gradually becoming repetitive there already.

It's better to lock every thread once it has done its purpose. In the event of duplicate threads, you can report to moderator and he will lock it up just like here and many other similar cases.

A huge part Naija LB is filled with topics talking about the same thing and it’s beginning to look like folks are just out here to litter the LB with repetitive topics and re-warmed jargons; things like this will only encourage too much spamming.

Sometimes i even find it hard to post on here because of this same reason and it seems like our moderator IGEBOTZ is oblivious to this situation or maybe he just probably doesn’t see it as an issue that needs addressing.

Either way, something should be done about this before it turns into something else.
It’s not new news that we’re not liked on this forum by people who have profiled Nigerians as shitposters and spammers, things like this will only fuel that propaganda.

I think the problem is repetition, but also won’t say every topic about Bitcoin investment should be treated as spam because of subject similarities, investment can be discuss with two different people but a different angle, questions and also different experiences of discussion.

Personally i would say that before deciding it repetitive the content of the topic should be look into. Then of found it just a change of tile and still passing same point then it can be reported or locked. But if not found wanting in any of this it should left to stand on it own.

You could pin 5 threads about Bitcoin investments and you will still have many more almost the same Bitcoin investments post made by people I have seen many very similar post in the same day, what you and I can do for now is to report any spammy thread and that's the first best thing to do.
I could say this happens when some people wants to complete post count or any other motive but if you care about the board it is best to do a research about that topic and see first then you can add your post to an already made thread.

Bitcoin is very complex and that’s why you see different topics being created regarding bitcoin investment. If you suggest that there should be a single thread for bitcoin investment discussions only, you’ll see people switching from one discussion to another without getting to fully conclude on one main issue at hand. Even on the general Bitcoin discussion board, there’s different topics regarding bitcoin investment. Each passing day comes with different experiences from bitcoin investment.

Those are really good topics and I usually lock the duplicate ones. What we need is a trading/Altcoin sub board to move those discussion into a more convenient space to free up the main board.
