My mistakes in crypto investing are:

1. I used small exchange that was hacked, and I haven't withdrawn funds on first signs of trouble.

2. I bought mostly shitcoins when I started to be interested in crypto. Almost all of these projects are now dead projects or practically worthless.

After having these bad experiences I sold almost all altcoins (for very low price) and have almost exclusively BTC, and try to keep my funds on exchanges for very limited time.
Those actually are very basic mistakes we all make. At the initial stage, we would not really chose a reputable exchange but will chose convenience. If we find some local exchange offering faster withdrawals/deposits at the moment, we would prefer investing with that exchange instead of looking for the reputable ones. It is only when we face a situation like this, we realise how big mistake we made and now recovering those funds is almost next to impossible. That's why choosing the right exchange is the first and foremost step while trading or even investing.

It is understandable why you chose shitcoins at that time. I am sure you might have seen the huge upside potential because a few of these shitcoins have actually performed quite well in the past. Hope you learnt from your mistake. If yes, I'm sure you would never go that path again.

Many newbies have made a lot of mistakes from crypto investment before they realized their mistakes, because they Lack real helper in crypto investment but since they find this forum it has helped them to get it right to improve in crypto profit or income. Do everything possible within your knowledge not to borrow money to invest or trade Bitcoin because it will not make you to concentrate to where to achieve profit or income that will make you to avoid mistake in the market.

Is not advisable to borrow momey to invest or trade, it's always give Newbies or even anyone problem because they can't concentrate fully to trade, most of them don't borrow money to invest because it take a long time to get profit talkless of paying back the money.

So.most of them borrow just to trade, bevause some of the Newbies think trading is something you can make quick money from so they don't care to borrow money and trade, but the process of trying to make profit and pay back the borrowed money, that where they always have problem because they want it so fast and its doesn't work.
I don’t think only newbies fall into this trap of borrowing money to trade, most people who have been trading for a while also make this mistake. The point of going that far is the FOMO and at the end it might not even go as planned, so that’s why borrowing is not an option to trade. if you don’t have the money then, wait until you have. Borrowing might put extra debt on someone more especially when they encounter loss after trading with borrowed funds.

It is one of the main reasons why newbies are advised by experienced people in the industry to have some certain level of knowledge before they put their minds into crypto. When someone gains some level of knowledge, they will never think that trading or investment will give them quick returns and go ahead to borrow money to trade or invest in Bitcoin or any other altcoin. It is a very bad idea for someone to borrow money to invest in something they are not guaranteed to make a profit from, because it is volatile in nature. It is very possible that, during the period they may need the money to pay back, the price of the coin they invested in may be down, which will really cause more problems. For trading, someone needs proper knowledge before they can make a profit from trading. Before someone even gains that knowledge, it may take time. It is not really easy to make money from trading.

Mistakes in crypto investing or trading, like the ones you mentioned are definitely true. But I also want to stress that after making those mistakes, things can get better or not. Because maybe almost everyone who gets into crypto investing or trading has made mistakes like that, whether in small or large amounts. For me, it's normal because the crypto market is very complex and full of uncertainty. The most important thing is that we acknowledge or realize every mistake so we can analyze it and learn from it, so we don’t repeat the same pattern in the future.

Because by learning from every loss or wrong decision we can develop better discipline, risk management, and our mindset about trading becomes much more mature. In the end, the experience from those mistakes actually becomes valuable ammunition to keep growing and surviving longer in the crypto world.

Economic challenges are everywhere but that isn't a valid reason why you shouldn't invest in bitcoin as you only need your discretionary income and nothing more to get started. You don't need any fundamentals but just discretionary income to invest, whatever you are investing in other than your discretionary income isn't necessary.

You sound like a trader otherwise what tools are you using to buy bitcoin? From my experience and years of investing in bitcoin,I haven't heard of any special tools that are use to invest in bitcoin. As an investor, you don't need any of those special tools to buy bitcoin, all you need is your discretionary income, internet and your preferred Centralise exchange, nothing more.

You’re absolutely right, Economics problems won’t stop you to invest in bitcoin or any other investment, just discretionary income will serve you everything, and your investment will be moving smoothly without any problems. If we says everyone will be complaining about economic challenges, know one will invest, but that didn’t stop any good investors that knows the value of investment. I think the tools is talking about is how to secure your coin or exchange that you can buy your coin and swap.

It will become a very bad idea and naive for anyone to think that they can borrow money to invest in crypto and at the same time depending on the performance of  their crypto investment to pay back the loans. I’m not against borrowing money to invest but not when the only hope of paying back the debt is solely on the investment performance which means that if the investment fails then the loan can’t be paid on time as at when due. Anyone borrowing to invest should be able to make proper plans which are more reliable means of paying back the loans.

Having problems in your economy will affect how well you manage your finances. It is actually important for you to consider your economy and finances before investing in any assets, including Bitcoin. It may sound simple if you say just use extra funds to invest. But the calculations for someone who is in economic trouble will not be that simple. You must understand the capabilities of your investment.

Yeah, borrowing money can create problem that we can't face when it's our own e.g we lose trade of our own money, we can accept that and wait for another opportunity but if it's borrowed money, there must be a deadline to pay it back. Now we have to make decisions under influence of our intrusive thoughts and we make wrong decisions. A lot of pressure to quickly gain it back from market. The problem becomes worse when newbies think it's fast way to make money and it's easy then they take trades to make quick money back. the original one and continue with their profit. Trading is never this easy, mate. Even if the market is going well, anything can still happen to my capital. That's why I would never recommend taking trade with money that we can't afford to lose.

Trading with borrowed money is not right at all, trade only with the money you can afford to lose and control your emotions and greed. Of course, you need to gain proper knowledge about trading. If you enter the market quickly based on emotions or greed, the risk of losing your money will increase many times. Achieving success through trading is not an easy task, there is a lot of risk of losing money here. One wrong decision can take away all your money, so it is wise to keep your mind calm, apply the right knowledge strategy, control your emotions and limit yourself within your means.

The upside is that diversification is not a foolproof way of being safe. However, if you have a bunch of altcoins still you may be at risk of the same market risk, particularly if the prices of these coins rely on the same hype or market conditions. It's beneficial to understand token unlock schedules, liquidity and token supply control before investing. A project can indeed have a real use case, but may not be a good investment if there is weak demand or early on-holders sell off heavily. A component of risk management should be determining prior to the risk event what amount you can tolerate the loss of.

I'm not sure if this is the right section for this topic I'm going to do, please inform me so I can put it in the right section. Now, let's proceed, probably this topic could have a similar discussion but I want to discuss it again to give as a reminder to others who are planning to come here in the crypto space.

Mistake Investment in Cryptocurrency

  • Holding every single
They are thinking that every single coin will make you/us rich in 2026. There is a popular phrase in which is " If you don't hold you wouldn't be rich" That's why we are no longer in the era of 2021 where anything we invest during this period will really kick or pump the price of any crypto coins.

But now in 2026 to be strategist, because even some of the quality and big coins you know back in 2025 did not do so well. So it is not the time to start holding random coins and thinking that your going to make profit. By holding it long-term.
If you can hold, then there is a chance to get rich, but this saying does not apply to all coins. Currently, there are more than 20,000 coins in the market, not all of them will give profit in the long term. Many coins have already dead and many coins are on their way. Many are somehow surviving in the market. A small number of coins will progress as expected. Investors must find those coins before investing.

Those who have not been able to invest in a good project, even if they hold their coins for a long time, it will not give any return, but they are nothing but an investment for the wallet. Instead of focusing on the coin itself, you should review why it is necessary to buy that coin. Those investors who invest only for the purpose of profit without research will be the ones who will suffer the most.

To be honest, having a lot of altcoins is not that safe at all. There's more risk to that and I have proven that to myself. I'd rather go with fewer cryptos in my portfolio than to be diversified a lot. Someone who owns bitcoin only can outperform those who has diversified a lot with their investments and as well as those who trades a lot. While that person with bitcoin or other few altcoins, they have nothing to worry with thinking of where to diversify because they have already maintained the risk that they're taking and at the same time maximizes potential profit.
Holding Altcoins alone is a risk on its own let alone holding so many. I’m not really a fan of altcoins, I believe it’s a lot more safer to hold Bitcoin, but if you must hold altcoins, it should be the likes of ETH that have been proven to have passed the test of time and have survived through the market’s thick and thin cycles. But the overall advise given to people who wish to hold assets or invest in crypto, be it altcoins or bitcoin, it is to only risk what one can actually afford to lose, because the market can be volatile and losses can be easily incurred, especially when you’re investing for the short term.

There have been a few scenarios with me where I learnt not to borrow money in order to invest some place. Even if we see fixed returns or minimum risk, we should still try and avoid borrowing money thinking that we can easily profit out and repay the loan. No matter how sure you are, things might take a u-turn at any time and you would be left with a huge debt for which you would either need to take another risk or pay from your personal funds which would be a big loss.

In past, there were people who even took a personal loan from bank to invest in bitcoin thinking they can get more returns and can easily pay the monthly EMI's. A single loss can ruin their routine which would indirectly hit their credit profile. I have been there and know how bad it hurts.

That’s right, a good product doesn’t guarantee that its token price will rise. Many people speculate if a project already have a real-world use case, it will become good project, so they buy the coins/tokens and expect to see a significant price increase, just like that happens, from $0.1 to $2. This kind of speculative thinking will only lead them to lose their entire investment. They need to stop trying to act speculatively and focus on who will hold the asset, how the coin is being used by developers, and another factors. If they’re only thinking about an instant price surge, they already made a mistake in their investment strategy from the very first purchase.

That's right. It is better for one to wait until they have enough money to trade without financial pressure, rather than borrow to trade when they are uncertain about the outcome. This will put them under pressure, which will make them restless and some people may commit suicide because of such pressure. That's why, whatever people are doing in life, they should exercise discipline and not allow their emotions to control them, as they may later regret their actions.

Projects that are able to survive are not projects that can only instantly increase 100x, because I have also experienced and found many projects that are able to provide 100x or even 1000x profits in an instant,
but then disappear without liquidity at all because they have been lacked and taken by the developer himself.

But projects that are able to survive and not just speculative projects, will continue to be developed and have many loyal Holders and also real use of the ecosystem and the type of projects being developed.
Factors such as Partners and some Listings in tier 1 markets will also be very influential in the long run.

Not with a price surge that occurs instantly, but profits will be obtained with normal and organic price fluctuations,
so that profits can continue to be obtained even though it is not significantly always happening, because it will also see market conditions.
But such a project will survive in any market conditions.

You are actually right because there are people who doesn't know when to invest, how to invest and when not to do that.
What thinks most time is because if they invest the market could possibly hit some x amount and they would definitely have their money out as quickly as possible. But without them knowing that investment is not what one should rushed into as most times when the market doesn't go as planned they could end up regretting, tho the most important thing should be investing on the right assets could help also because when the market is down definitely it would bounce back again.

Due to not good enough development in crypto market now things are getting worst for investors specially those are having mind their investment will be bring good profit for them in near future but they are not able to recover because strategy not working and mostly cryptocurrencies are going down badly just relaying on few coins are having some benefit but trying to go blindly in many coins always increase loses. Currently Bitcoin is doing enough good just because of these few coins that are also having a good increase in value but still mostly are on dead level now. I mostly encourage people to stay with Bitcoin, but in case someone wants to go ahead in crypto, usually try to have coins in top ranks because they are doing better and have a chance of giving a good response in the near future as well.

Buying so much altcoins and storing them for the purpose of getting profits is definitely not the best option since they are very volatile and their movements is not so much of a guarantee compared to stacking up bitcoin but there is one season that an exception can be made for this type of move and that's the famous altcoins season that every crypto enthusiast is aware of and I think during this period but so many altcoins can actually be a strategic move to gather up some tangible profits.
