It’s true that the website may still be online, but it’ll still require people on ground to keep the whole operation running. They’ll need someone to process payments, attend to customer support, take care of marketing and other services that a casino would normally need to keep running efficiently and effectively. So they really don’t have to be there physically, but having a local team can make the job a lot more easier for them, even though such moves also exposes them to local law enforcement.

I think this is the second time I’m seeing cases of a country arresting foreigners who are said to be operating illegal gambling businesses in the country, which brings me to the question of why someone would leave their own country and go to the country of others just to open up an illegal gambling business. The answer is simple , people move to where the grass is greener... and like they say, it is greener on the other side. In this case, I presume that Indonesia has a weak gambling regulation so people are taking advantages of the loopholes to operate illegal casino because of course there is money in it.

Leaving your own country to a different country to do something illegal is completely wrong, do they even realize that they might probably get caught? Just to see how stupid most people can be. Personally it is very difficult for me to engage myself into anything illegal in my country talk more of doing it outside, who knows how many countries they must have visited earlier before they were caught.
I said it that the rate at which casinos are been created nowadays is quite questionable, and funny enough some don't even last for a longer time. Probably weeks or month due to the challenges that gamblers are facing while using those site. I'm sure this bodies have a hand in all these scam casinos we have been seeing lately.

This is not surprising, especially since those who want to establish a casino business will want to go to any country and establish their business. Since 5 foreigners have been arrested in Indonesia for illegally syndicating gambling, this is not uncommon news. If gambling is illegal in a country, and in that case, if a citizen or foreign citizen tries to establish a gambling establishment illegally, he must be arrested. This is mentioned in the parliamentary procedure of that country. This also happens many times in my country where foreigners fund gambling and casino establishments. Since my country does not directly support this, my country can take legal action against all those citizens and foreigners.

Can't they open and operate such from wherever they are? Do they need to live in the country since the casino is illegal and they don’t own any physical office?
The question is, why do people leave their country to establish a business in foreign lands? It might be that it is easier to establish these casinos in other countries. It could also be that there is a large market for illegal gambling in Indonesia. Gambling is highly restricted in Vietnam and China, which might be why their nationals are establishing these platforms abroad. They might also be avoiding harsh punishments in their home country. I thought there's a copied version of Las Vegas in China called Macau where gambling is legal. They could have just gone there, to start their gambling business. Those guys deserve a long jail term for breaking a rule in another country. This is why some people don't like foreigners, because of how they break the law of theircounr. For those guys to leave their respective country to Indonesia, means they have seen some opportunities there, that they can use to make money quick. I am very sure that Indonesia official will deport those guys back to their country, in order to be punished.

That could also be it, but according to the story on the op link, all of those which were arrested are all foreign nationals, unless they have people who are locals that handle the payment processing and customer service. If not, most of these scammers can multitask and still receive the payment convert it without a direct involvement of people from their especially if they are focused on run a crypto casino.

The first thing you need to know is that there is no legal gambling in Indonesia, as the country strictly prohibits any form of gambling activity. Regarding the question of why they left their home countries to operate online gambling businesses, I believe the answer still relates to the market. In Southeast Asia, Indonesia is the largest market, even though the country actually prohibits gambling. Perhaps those who were arrested were not workers, they were bosses wanting to monitor how their businesses were operating in Indonesia.

Don't be surprised that it's these people that do go to a different country to run an illegal gambling business might not be clean and have the plans to scam gamblers through their gambling platform. However, gambling is illegal in main China and if you are caught running a gambling syndicate, you have committed an organized crime. Maybe, that was why these guys left China down to Indonesia to commit this crime but get bursted by Indonesia immigration.
It was only because gambling is illegal in China, and they are operating illegal something in another country; the same punishment will still be served to them. I think there is more to it than just the gambling not being legal in their country; maybe it has more to do with the server, etc. The law in Indonesia also prohibit gambling activities in that country just as it is in China. Both online and physical gambling setting are strictly prohibited and anyone caught may likely face a capital charge. It couldn't have being anywhere but where these syndicates believes that they can easily thrive with the illegal gambling service offering and make much profit and then exit the scene before the government could even notice. But it seems luck ran out on this ones.

That's' the same in my country, they're known as the POGO(Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator) but renamed to IGL(Internet Gaming licenses) to make it look like that our government has removed these operations even if they are not. And for your question is because, in their home country the penalties are heavier and could cost them their lives. While where they operate in their chosen headquarters, it could just be some fine with jail time and they can bail out. I'm not sure though with how Indonesia's law will enforce into that but I believe they're very firm with their decision and strict in implementing their laws.

They don't just arrive there and choose a country at random. Usually, they have someone who's been there for a long time who understands the situation. Although gambling is illegal in Indonesia, the authorities aren't very strict about it, and many officials and officers still operate in this illegal business.
So, I think their arrests are merely a formality. Much larger syndicates continue to operate safely and without problems, backed by local authorities.

What will come to my mind ti be the reason they’re doing this is that; if their country of residence have strict rules on things like this that won’t allow for the flow of the illegal business, they’ll not want to start one up there. If the people of the country they’re running to are not smart and can easily get scammed, they easily target them and not mind how much they will spend to leave their own country to go stay with their targeted people to scam. Gambling is meant to be fun but a lot of people really get carried away and are mostly a victim of scam and using of illegal casinos that mostly cater away with their funds in the end. Gambling is very addictive but don’t let it make you fall for these guys, they’ll can do anything to become their victim.

Really humans can take some funny risk because of money, it seems their own country of origin prohibited gambling but even at that it is wrong to go to another country to be doing an illegal gambling, if another country accepts gambling there will not be any issues traveling over there and doing a legit gambling rather than engaging in an illegal gambling activity in a country where they prohibited gambling, I am really sorry for them but they deserve any penalty they serve them.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Immigration Office has arrested five foreign nationals from China and Vietnam suspected of being part of an international online gambling syndicate.
According to Banten Immigration Office Head Barron Ichsan, the five foreigners were arrested following an inspection of their place of stay on September 7, during which officers found "an unreasonable number of electronic devices operating automatically."
"During the inspection, our officers confiscated one computer, one laptop, and 26 cellphones," Ichsan said of the operation in his remarks on Saturday. I think this is the second time I’m seeing cases of a country arresting foreigners who are said to be operating illegal gambling businesses in the country, which brings me to the question of why someone would leave their own country and go to the country of others just to open up an illegal gambling business. Can't they open and operate such from wherever they are? Do they need to live in the country since the casino is illegal and they don’t own any physical office? Maybe because there's no death penalty in Indonesia, that's why they choose to go in other country which does not have death penalty and operate their illegal online casino. Since in China the penalty is so heavy, especially if they mixed it up with another heavy crimes. Look at this as example. Besides the 11 members who received death sentences, another five received death sentences with two-year suspensions; 11 were jailed for life; and the rest were given jail sentences ranging from five to 24 years.
The court found that since 2015 the Ming family and other criminal groups had engaged in criminal activities including telecommunications fraud, illegal casinos, drug trafficking, and prostitution. Got that from this news articles https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c78nrx309kzoHeard lots of this cases for many times and operators usually don't want to operate in their countries, because of huge risk that they can easily tracked down.

I may not have an exact ideal what they navigates with such operations but I can only think that they operates that way after considering the regions that their plans can be successful regardless the security network of the agencies. They considers places that may be vulnerable where they can influence the people of that environment and the reason why they may have to be on ground within that location could be that they have a strategic means of keeping people in that areas on track, studies their attitude on the likes of gambling and then, identifies the means of gambling services that catches the masses attention and implements it in their own gambling sites. Sometimes they have secret agencies that gathers the necessary datas of the local residents for them so that it comes easy for them to know how to deal with the people via terms of their gambling services while they remains invisible in the case that they don't own physical offices other wise, some of them like that do have physical offices that disguises them to look genuine.

Am equally as suppriseed as you are, but I believe they think they will be caught in their country if they do an iligal gambling business or their penalty will be very sivea, forgetting that the penalty in another country is also equal to that of their country. They think people will not do them no harm if they are foreigner but reverse is the case. More of this cases should be properly investigated to avoid much of iligal gambling business like This.

I would not have understood who is running the business from where and how if they were not arrested. The person mentioned here came from China and started a casino business in Indonesia. Maybe he is not able to run a casino in his country China and maybe it is very difficult to run a casino in China because nothing illegal can be run in China. Their advanced technology gets them caught in a flash, due to which they are easily earning money by running casinos in Indonesia. However, since they are involved in running an illegal gambling platform from one country to another and causing harm to that country, they should be tried according to the laws of that country. This will warn the people of that every country.

Restrictions on gambling in China and Vietnam are much stricter than those in Indonesia, so even though gambling is illegal in Indonesia but because of regulations and penalties that are still not well connected (and can still bribe ) then this will make it easier for them to run the site. This is not new it seems because it is common knowledge that in Indonesia gambling is the same as corruption that is mushrooming in almost all circles so that this makes it easier for them to make several sites even including scam sites because gamblers in Indonesia (most) will not really care about licensing or whatever the most important thing is they play and win then this is a suitable target for them. A little sickening to see this news because I am an Indonesian citizen but this is what is happening where our country is still very weak against some regulations including gambling.

After all authorities recovered 26 cellphone, computers and laptops. This indicate that this matter goes beyond just any single website owner. Furthermore the fact that they were based in Indonesia did not mean they were targeting only Indonesian market. After reading this report I felt that distinct operational role had been assigned to Chinese and Vietnamese national. So while it is certainly possible to run their website from abroad but establishing operational base in another country offered them greater advantage in my opinion. Likely due to factor like manpower or their need for local coordination. why someone would leave their own country and go to the country of others just to open up an illegal gambling business.
I didn't find any exact answer to this after reading this report. Now that they have been arrested so proper investigation might reveal that actual reason why they went to Indonesia.

Well for starter they they obviously cant do that on their own country and findign a loosen grip government when it comes to gambling. Its just like in our country, too many illegal operators mostly coming from a foreign country. Maybe they thought the auhority is quite loosen and easy to escape. Well its hurting but its quite true for that case. What could be the reason for them to fly wheel on other places right?

I think it's because they are aiming for a bigger market, or maybe the legal framework against illegal gambling in other countries are less harsher than in their own. Whatever the reason is, it should always tie to the legal consequences when their caught. I also think China are far more stricter in terms of gambling than Indonesia, correct me if I'm wrong. So, doing it illegally will have heavier punishments when caught. I think this also the same reasons why big syndicates are always involved/associated with foreigners.
