The notorious claim that "Bitcoin is dead" is incorrect in several respects. Bitcoin bears no resemblance to anything usually referred to as a dead coin. Not at all.

However, in one sense, this claim might also be correct...
Bitcoin is dead in the same sense as a Nobel Prize-winning poet. It is at the pinnacle of fame and can be a great source of inspiration. But it is not something to believe in or to bet on.
I feel there is a grain of truth in that claim.

The Bitcoin haters will keep repeating that Bitcoin is dead no matter what we try to do or say. Comparing Bitcoin to a dead Nobel Prize award winner seems too weird. Bitcoin is as "dead" as stocks in a bear market. Some people claim that OpenAI is dead because they aren't making enough money from ChatGPT paid subscriptions. Maybe they are wrong or maybe they will be right at some point  in the future, if OpenAI files for bankruptcy.

There is no information about how many % Bitcoin market dropped around those calls but if you're interested in, you can spend some more time for checking and verify my thinking accuracy.

Everything that has a beginning also has an end. No asset or other thing stays young and healthy forever. However, deaths vary greatly. I think the death of Bitcoin is one of the sweetest.

You sound correct, nothing stays forever. But until then, I am gonna trust and hold on to Bitcoin more than any asset I can think of having for long term.

Bitcoin has never died and we read on a daily basis the trials that bitcoin has been through, so it's right to say that bitcoin has passed through the furnace and stood strong, what we can only get used to is seeing the down times which are usually temporary because bitcoin is not dead and may never die.

Bitcoin does not really need people to believe in it for it to continue working, whether somebody thinks it is the future or completely useless the network keeps running. Personally the major question that I have is the stage that I think will be different for bitcoin is when the excitement about it becomes normal to the people and they stop seeing it as something that can make them rich but continue using and holding it because they find it useful.

Maybe it being less exciting over time would not necessarily mean it is dead but simply means has become more established and known to people.

This is 2026, and some people still think that Bitcoin is dead? It could be that I don't properly understand what Bitcoin dying means. This is an asset that has existed since 2009 till date. Even when the price was way below the current price, Bitcoin didn't die then. Will it die now that more people have adopted Bitcoin and there are institutional investors and governments that support Bitcoin?

I am not surprised. I have never seen anyone raise an alarm that Bitcoin will soon die when bitcoin is bullish; all these acts come when bitcoin is bearish. Haters of Bitcoin are happy now; they can continue to spread FUD.

I think most people who have been around for a long time has been immune to this post or at least saw/read this statement so many times.

It's funny how people sing "bitcoin is dead" during bitcoin bad days but remain silent when it recovers and begin to pump. We are used to their games already but they never get tired of waiting. I remember a tree near my house. Every year during the winter, the tree would take on such a form that it seemed that the tree was dead and we should clean up the land. But after a few days, it would revive with green again. This cycle was seen every year, basically the tree never died, but rather it was time to wrap itself in a sheet of green again.

Now I find the similarity of this thread with my story of that tree. During the downturn of Bitcoin in every cycle, I see some people who repeatedly say that Bitcoin is dead. But after a few days, Bitcoin gives those people a slap on the cheek and tells them that it has woken up. This happens again and again, but they don't learn.

This is human for you, never expect everybody to love the same thing you like, people are different, so is their reasoning, it can never be the same, no matter how well Bitcoin performs, there will always be critics and haters who will be spreading fake news against Bitcoin, a good reason why everyone should do their research before investing, if not sure that Bitcoin is capable and are still in doubt, it is better not to spend money investing until certain.

I actually thought op will point the price as an example because when people make statements like this they’re likely referring to bitcoin dip, yet we’ve seen the market recover several times reason why a lot of influencer withdraw negative statements about bitcoin as seen clearly a lot of public figure who never believed in bitcoin now start holding bitcoin.
Not sure about this statement bitcoin being dead, still curious what the statement is all about when bitcoin is doing just fine, I understand the point of not trusting bitcoin fully but, the term trust still has to do with holding bitcoin but, not 100% best definitely we might consider bitcoin a risky investment depending on the approach.

 you comparing Bitcoin to a dead poet isn't wrong though it still seems or feels too vague because it doesn't in any way align with how the technology presently works. why I said it doesn't align with Bitcoin's ideology is that unlike a poet, Bitcoin is constantly active every day because millions of people make use of it based on its different features like for transactions investment, and so on. And as well for the fact that its security gets stronger every time giving it an edge that the network can't be hacked. It not some old artifact to just  go to a museum and take pictures or look at,no it's a real evolving technology that you don't just look at but make use of digitally....

They wouldn't wait because they know it's not going to happen, the things they are saying is not coming from fundamental or any technical aspect, it's coming from speculation and hate because they don't like Bitcoin for reasons best known to them. Sometimes, I think people in other financial institutions do this to keep their liquidity, they don't like people leave their traditional finance for another investment but even if people are blind, Bitcoin is not.

This trend didn't start today and certainly it wouldn't stop here either but the more it stays, the less it makes. Back in 2014, if you say that Bitcoin is dead, people might have to agree with the things you said because under performance and the chart might not be impressive but if you say such in 2026, you might even look like a clown who doesn't understand a thing about Bitcoin.
