The notorious claim that "Bitcoin is dead" is incorrect in several respects. Bitcoin bears no resemblance to anything usually referred to as a dead coin. Not at all.

However, in one sense, this claim might also be correct...
Bitcoin is dead in the same sense as a Nobel Prize-winning poet. It is at the pinnacle of fame and can be a great source of inspiration. But it is not something to believe in or to bet on.
I feel there is a grain of truth in that claim.

You say Bitcoin is dead but still impacting lives , servings as hedge control over inflation, both individuals and counties wants to be in possession and adoption of bitcoin yet it is dead, spreading from one continent to another, salvaging various countries economy from collapsing, whales are accumulating and holding on it for a longer term to yield more profits for them likewise individuals and small firms.

Does something dead function or have impact on people's lives and in the world at large , you have to accept the reality that Bitcoin is alive and functioning very well nevermind all the challenges it is the normal thing in life, when there is no challenges there will be no growth and success.

The notion that Bitcoin is dead is essentially a rumor, those who propagate it often do so to instill fear, but it is a completely incorrect and misguided interpretation. This rumor has circulated since Bitcoin's inception, yet it has never held true; instead, Bitcoin has consistently defied such claims and endured for years. Since its emergence in 2009, Bitcoin has remained active and viable even as we move through 2026 proving itself to be a resilient asset and a promising digital currency for the future. Those who claim Bitcoin is dead likely lack faith or confidence in it, however, an analysis of its value, history, and future prospects clearly demonstrates that Bitcoin is far from dead. Given the recognition and popularity it has garnered, its significant appreciation in value, and its reliability as a currency, it is not going to die out. Bitcoin has remained alive since the beginning and will continue to exist in the future, it represents a realm of financial freedom where people find trust and confidence.

If bitcoin is dead who must have killed bitcoin, you could probably know who does… however I know there are so many people that would have expected bitcoin to fail unfortunately that did not happen.

That brings me to ask which altcoin or shitcoin have you been advertising, because you sound more like someone who doesn’t fancy bitcoin.

Bitcoin is a volatile assets and you will always have a bull season or bear season, depending on what you choose to believe bitcoin is thriving.

Well these phrase is commonly use by the people who dont trust the bitcoin, who dont know the potential of the bitcoin, who dont make a good position when the market is down so basically these people are the doubters of the bitcoin, wait for the next bull cycle for sure these people who makes a thought about no hope for bitcoin will get silent, its their time and era right now because we are in the lowest and bear market.

It's only dead for those who don't believe in crypto. It's 2026 already, and those who still say it is either aren't in crypto, don't hold btc and are just dreaming for their alt holdings to soar, or maybe just a fool who thinks btc is just a scam.

Once they see btc has a massive drop, they always say btc is dead or going to zero, not realizing that a dump is very normal. We have passed the point where we still fear that btc would completely become nothing. Now, we see every fall in a different way.

Yes, we have moved on in the last 10 years or so, Bitcoin is here to stay and no matter what regulators did in the early years to try to stop it, but it didn't slow us down. On the contrary, it gain a lot of attention.

And that attention turn a country to make it as their national reserve (El Salvador), and then institutions comes in, like Saylor, and then we have the ETF's that push the price to six digits in the last bull run.

So if someone says that Bitcoin is dead, they are delusional and can't accept it.

I believe the more intriguing question is what do they really mean by dead? The fall in price. Less trading or a long bear market does not necessarily indicate that the network itself is failing. These are other things. The activity on the Bitcoin network, its security, adoption, and its market price can fluctuate over time. This is why it can be misguiding to base any judgment on price alone as evidence of alive vs dead Bitcoin. This has been stated many times in the years but a better measure would be if the underlying network was still working and still attracting users. It is a great advantage to the Bitcoin is dead argument that this fact is not as clear cut as it seems.

Bitcoin has been attacked and claimed to be dead so many times. So if someone says it's dead, it doesn't matter anymore, because no matter what they say, they'll still believe it. Well, if they think that way, then fine, I have no obligation to convince them. But given the fact that Bitcoin continues to grow, I think those with such beliefs are a bit ridiculous for trying to turn a blind eye to such a glaring fact.
Well, some people will always try to put others off the right path when they are not on it themselves, and they mostly fail at it if the people they are trying to convince are smart enough to understand that they make no sense and whatever they are saying isn't logical. People who say Bitcoin is dead every time when it has literally proved them wrong multiple times are just doing the same thing, and others who listen to them should be smart enough to ignore what they are saying because their claims obviously make no sense when facts and figures are completely against them.

If we have a look at history, we will see two things going side-by-side. The first thing is the growth of Bitcoin from the start until now, and the second thing is its critics trying to salvage its success with their words and negativity, and guess what? The growth actually never stopped, but the critics just keep getting humbled every single time by Bitcoin, and that's the fun thing to watch. So all we need to do is ignore the negativities around the industry, and focus on Bitcoin and its growth.

Bitcoin price growth is not a straight line, not even a linear growth but it has been very lively with ups and downs, bull markets and bear markets while during the last 17 years, it has been parabolic upward in general trend.

https://www.coinglass.com/pro/i/yearly-candlestick-chart

Even looking at Bitcoin yearly candle chart, we can see green and red candles and these candles show that the trend is upwards but along the way, there are volatility. People who can not go through this market with bearish volatile years will not be able to hold their coins, stay in the market, and get profit.

Absolutely, right from the very beginning when Bitcoin would drop from $0.10c it was called
that it was dead, and this was happening hundreds of times since the first time. So we could
read it that Bitcoin was also resurrected many times too!

People who call that Bitcoin is dead are wither trying to create FUD and or dont actually understand
what exactly is behind it, how it works and what it offers to everyone.

The OP should be careful when using the phrase "Bitcoin is dead" without explaining it.

I need to digest the phrase "Bitcoin is dead" as a form of metaphor. despite the fact that when it comes to fame then of course Bitcoin is no longer an experimental asset because it has become one of the peaks of the global financial system. Bitcoin used to be something that is uncertain, has not been recognized and even doubted its existence. Now that proof is no longer needed. So the word "Dead" has the meaning of the death of the old narrative of bitcoin. Circumstances have changed, have gone through cycles, dismissing various crises and criticism, recognition of institutions, and even adoption of the state.

First of all we need to even establish what it actually means for something to be called dead. For anything to be produced dead, then it’s must have existed and stop existing at a pint in time. Or are you saying that bitcoin is abrogated? None of this seems to be true about bitcoin. Hence the claim must definitely be regarded as false. Bitcoin is rather interesting to another level of adoption and its volatility is reducing as compared to when it was much younger. I want to also remind you that bitcoin is 17 years old already and it’s getting more popular and adoption. so if you don’t want to be around bitcoin it’s not a problem but there is nothing your FUD would cause to the level bitcoin is and i honestly wonder what who doesn’t believe in bitcoin is actually looking for in a bitcoin forum. Do you plan to come and create controversies or you just catch cruise and having your drink?

Dead means dead, keep it simple.

Bitcoin is dead if its blockchain is dead, no miner, no mining, no node, no new block found, no new transactions to be confirmed.
Bitcoin is dead if its market is dead: no buyers, no sellers, no trading volume.
Bitcoin is dead if noone can use it to spend for something, buy something with bitcoin.

Dead is always simple, it's dead but fortunately Bitcoin is not dead.

If you want to know it more, look at dead altcoins and see how deaths are with altcoins.

Is it because it is not guaranteed? that doesn't mean that it is dead in a sense.

I mean, "Bitcoin is dead" claims have been around for a very long time. They usually go around every time there was a bear market, and it just goes the other way around when the market was skyrocketing it would be like Bitcoin is King or the best, something like that. Maybe we are talking about the sense that Bitcoin doesn't really have its value since the value of Bitcoin was just depending on the market demand, supply and demand is usually what makes the Bitcoin price, and there was no other thing that is going to guaranteed the Bitcoin.

Meaning anything could happen at any moment; something could come up that could break the foundation of Bitcoin, probably going to a huge crash in the market, it has already happened a lot of times in the past. Since there is nothing supporting in aside from supply and demand, it is also prone to manipulation because of that.

If you or whoever claims that Bitcoin is dead, in what aspect are you referring to?
Is it dead on the path that it is no more following the rout of decentralisation because the rate of centralised control is gaining more power than what it is supposedly made for or is it on the perspective of its price movement?

People say things most times out of hatred and not because the truth lies in what/how they see the whole situation.

I don't see why someone could come up with such an idea, and the only thing which I consider that can actually kill bitcoin for real among a few things is if the internet is cut off and there is no means to broadcast transactions aside from that price will go up and down and bitcoin will still remain and even grow stronger.

Bitcoin will always be dead for those who have not experienced getting profitable with bitcoin. For them, it's still a big scam that's why even if they are completely aware that until now bitcoin continue to exist and is still creating progress in the market, but the fact that they don't believe or trust bitcoin, then they will always have something negative to say.

The best approach is to ignore these people and never entertain the thought that bitcoin is dead. Bitcoin will only be real dead if it no longer exist in the market and is no longer giving us potential profits every time the market turns bullish.

There are actually people that can never relate with bitcoin because they have not given the opportunity to benefit from bitcoin, or they might be aware on it but they end up ignoring that opportunity because they don't think that bitcoin is capable to do this or do that. And until now, they get blinded with the idea that bitcoin is dead, and there's no reason it will still be profitable in the future because gone are the golden days of bitcoin.

However, one thing they don't know is that bitcoin is still here, though not as profitable as before but the opportunity to make bitcoin as a good retirement is still there. They fail to see it, simply because they don't have trust about bitcoin in the first place. In the end, its their loss not ours.

There is always someone who says "Bitcoin is dead" but this depends on the meaning of Bitcoin is dead for everyone.
Those who are against Bitcoin may be happy with that sentence but those who are pro will say that Bitcoin does not have a life and that Bitcoin will continue to be traded and mined until the supply of 21 million is reached.

Bitcoin never dies but if we look at the current purpose of Bitcoin as a payment currency for anything it may have been hampered and a bit extinct.
Because now stablecoins really master payments well with faster networks and low fees.
Bitcoin is still hampered by transactions that sometimes get stuck due to a surge in transactions and make fees more expensive.

A quick solution like Bitcoin LN cannot be the best solution because it has many limitations and if it is also possible to say that it is not real Bitcoin because it uses an offchain network, not an onchain.
