Hello nutildah,

Honestly, I don't know where to start explaining this. When I found out that my account was sigbanned, I was quite surprised.

Since sigban decisions are reviewed manually, I believe everything was checked carefully. I have been active posting in the Gambling board, and most of my posts are mainly in that board.

When I look back at my recent posts, I can feel there is something wrong. But I want to know exactly what triggered the sigban.

If possible, please let me know where I went wrong, and I will fix it in the future. Thanks.

I am curious to know the exact sig ban reason too, but you'll have to clarify if this is an appeal or just an inquiry. Your thread title says it is an appeal but in the thread you do not mention that you are requesting one.

I went through your post history and it looks just typical of someone who is interested in casinos and interacts regularly with brands here. Nothing spammy or any post bursting in the few pages I checked.

Thanks for checking my post history, I really appreciate it. To be clear, this is an appeal.

I decided to appeal now because based on the Sigban Appeal Q&A thread, just waiting for the ban to end does not automatically make things safe, there is still a risk of getting sigbanned again without knowing where I went wrong.

So I think it is better to go through the appeal process directly. Sorry if my first post did not make that clear enough.

Probably low merit count and only gambling section post's. Since you're on the forum you can't just use the Gambling section alone , lol. You need to roam around the forum since you're using only gambling section you're just milking the forum for your own benifit.

I hope it is just your hypothesis and not close to the actual reason. You can just use the gambling section alone if that is what interests you. There is no obligation to roam around sections you are not interested in and drop a quota. Sig bans is not a war against gambling posts or should not be.

Lack of merits =/= spam. We should not be encouraging users to post with the aim of earning merits

The better advice is improving post quality which is key to get an earlier unban or won't be banned again in the future after this ban expiration.

If post quality won't be improved, while spreading posts to other boards, in my opinion, it only makes things worse. Spamming in only one board is better than spamming around the forum, at least it's less annoying and people who won't visit your favorite spam board will not be affected by your low quality posts.

Quote
Only nutildah can confirm the rest.
nutildah already posted that ban will not aim at gambling board only.
Your ban was issued because your recent posting habits fall below forum standards of quality. Substandard posting habits considered in the decision to issue the ban include at least two of the following:

- Unoriginal or low effort replies, including inappropriate use of AI content.
- Repetitive, previously-expressed or generic comments that don’t add value or encourage conversation.
- Consistent burst posting (regularly writing posts less than 10 minutes apart).
- Off‑topic posting or shallow engagement (doesn't provide insight, analysis or perspective).
- Posting in principle for signature campaign payment and not for the sake of contributing actual discussion.

More with posts 1 and 2 but maybe more posts about his stance and criteria.

I know that receiving or not receiving merits is not automatically indicative that the posts have quality or not.

But I ask: how is it that you only earned 57 merits since the system was implemented?
All of them have been us for the last 6 years
If I'm not mistaken, the merit system is about 10 years old (tell me if I'm wrong).

Note, the overwhelming majority of my merits have been obtained in the last 6 years.
But, you can also notice that I had long periods absent from the forum (it would be difficult to get merits).

In your case, you have always maintained some participation.

But as I said, I'm not saying that this in itself is significant of bad posts
I am just analysing the situation and I noticed this fact.

Shit man, you have been here for over a decade, posted actively (you have a whooping 3556 activity points) and you only earned 57 merits. That must be a record. You could have made at least a thousand just by joining random conversations in the forum. I haven't checked your post history tbh but that merit number of yours pretty much tells the story. At least it is just a 3 months ban, i don't think you should appeal, just wait it out and try to make better posts.

Sure. That is a fair request.

Basically, I don't think its a good idea to continue the precedent that it is lucrative to do what you're doing, which appears to be contributing as little mentally as possible while still writing full posts. That's not meant to be a dig on you - I think you can write good posts if you wanted to - but the majority of your recent post history is superficial takes on sports matches and casino issues.

You have hundreds or thousands of posts like this, which is basically the recycling of the same topics discussed daily for years in the gambling sections:

I think if a player already read the bonus terms from the start, most likely they will not see it as a trap. Like it was mentioned before, some promos have wagering requirements some do not, it depends on each casino rules, and from the start it was already made optional not forced. So it comes back to the player being careful to read first before claiming, so there is no disappointment later from feeling "trapped", when everything was already explained clearly since the beginning.

That was a rough start for Manchester United, no doubt about it. For this match, I did not dare bet on a win for them, since their form last season was also inconsistent and hard to predict. So I only picked the cards and BTTS markets, but even that lost because they failed to score at all. It is still early in the season, but losing to a newly promoted team is clearly embarrassing.

Besides that, how they handle their money might also be a big reason. Many new casinos give big bonuses at the start to attract players, but without proper risk calculation so once many players claim the bonus and win, the cashflow gets overwhelmed. Also, if support is slow and not honest about withdrawal issues, the reputation gets bad quickly and players slowly move to other casinos.

In my opinion, its wrong to encourage people to post like this. Its okay to make light, repetitive banter like this occasionally or even moderately, but its not okay to make a career out of it.

My advice to you is to put more effort and thought into your posts and try writing about different subjects from time to time. If you must continue writing about the same subjects you have for years, try adding a bit more of a personal take to help differentiate your posts from other posters. You don't have to post anywhere in particular, but it wouldn't hurt to stop living entirely in the gambling sections. If that's honestly all you're here for, that's fine, but you need to start writing more engaging posts to compete with everyone else who's doing what you're doing.

To be fair, these are daily discussions in gambling and sports in general. I talk with my mates about sports and each weekend is similar but with different matches and actions but to someone who is not a fan we are rehashing conversations. Casino issues are also applicable with different casinos which offer the same gameplay but with some peculiar attributes with each different one.

This is not a bad thing or a flaw in conversation. Those posts you highlighted are replying to another user and also to the main topic that was being discussed in those threads. And if those are the worst of it, i personally disagree with this user getting banned.

In my opinion, its wrong to encourage people to post like this. Its okay to make light, repetitive banter like this occasionally or even moderately, but its not okay to make a career out of it.
I don't mean to derail this thread but the main signature ban thread is locked.

I think the reason I am yet to come to terms with the whole sig ban situation may be because I'm yet to understand the aim which I thought I did.

Is the target to reduce signature spam or to police what posts deserves to be paid for, adding an extra, subjective layer of moderation beyond the usual spam checks?
Are we saying, "these posts are fine for forum discussion but if you want the privilege to earn you need to do a lot more"?

That doesn't mean people should get paid for such posts -- they shouldn't if that's the only thing they're doing on this forum. That's not a positive contribution in any tangible manner, and it shouldn't be considered a standard for others to aspire to.

I used to understand the term “quality posts” as discussions that bring meaningful value to the forum and its members. I don't want to believe that the quality posts being referred to here are only those directly related to Bitcoin or the technical side of Bitcoin, because it would be wrong to define quality posting that way.

There are still many interesting and valuable posts outside those niches. Quality should not be judged by technicality alone...

Quality has never been judged by technicality or the subject material of the post. What is judged is the repetitiveness of subjects and words, along with other indicators that might reasonably suggest whether an account is exerting enough of an effort to constitute genuine interaction.

Repetitiveness comes in many forms. It may be the 4th post in a row about Real Madrid's ongoing match performance. It might be someone who writes the same posts about Dollar Cost Averaging on a daily basis. It might be someone who is using AI to mass produce template content without even realizing that's what they're doing. In the end, its all the same thing: laziness immortalized for no apparent reason other than to host a signature stamp.

The point is don't be overly repetitive. Put some thought and effort into offering an original take, instead of seeking to do the bare minimum which has been the standard for years... a standard that is still far too low. I don't think its too much to ask.

yes, i expect PAID posts to be at least.... SOMEWHAT useful. often, theyre not.

far more info in the posts from accounts that post because they actually have something to say. some have paid sigs, some dont. makes no diff on those accounts. they would post with or without the pay simply because they are.. hmmm. theyre something a sig spammer would never understand.

I think that sometimes people forget that Bitcointalk is a forum about Bitcoin and topics related to the cryptocurrency universe.
This is not a forum about sports betting or sports.

These topics and areas of the forum exist as an extra to the central theme of the forum, because we don't always have to talk about Bitcoin and the like; the world has more to offer.

You know, there are metrics that management can evaluate. And when a forum starts losing positions in searches or becomes better known for its betting section instead of its main topic, it's not a positive thing for everyone.

We cannot forget that, ultimately, Bitcointalk is a forum about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.
Therefore, I think there needs to be a balance.

That doesn't mean people should get paid for such posts -- they shouldn't if that's the only thing they're doing on this forum. That's not a positive contribution in any tangible manner, and it shouldn't be considered a standard for others to aspire to.
Thank you for your response.
Now I understand it. This is the forum (or theymos rather) moderating signature campaigns on subjective rules and standards. This also means there is actually focus on the gambling section as most of the active signature brands are casinos.
With that focus on the gambling section, I would have considered it imperative to have people very familiar with it involved in the process.

yes, i expect PAID posts to be at least.... SOMEWHAT useful. often, theyre not.
I get your point but if those paying for the posts are okay with it along with the signature manager handling it, does that not count for something? I know this is not foolproof because some campaigns could encourage spam as a means of getting attention but that is not usually the case. And considering bitcoin features, should we be moderating an on-forum transaction between parties (signature brand and participants) that are comfortable with the terms and output when they are not breaking any forum rules?

I think that sometimes people forget that Bitcointalk is a forum about Bitcoin and topics related to the cryptocurrency universe.
This is not a forum about sports betting or sports.
I honestly do not think we want to be a forum that forces people to post somewhere. I can like bitcoin and understand some of the basics to enable me hold a wallet but I'm not nearly technical enough to help users when they have a question so I mostly read what others say. If I have a peculiar interest in economics (not bitcoin related) or sports, I am still a part of the community through those niches. People should be allowed to bring their interests to bitcointalk and if they can earn from it, fine. We should not become a community that forces people to conform, that to me is against the core qualities of bitcoin.

If you ask me, there is a balance. There is no want for posts in bitcoin related sections, there is even a lot of spam there too in addition to useful posts that we get.

At this point, I would back of entirely from the signature ban process/discussions and let the admin run the forum as he wants. Not that it matters much

I didn't say any of that, and I am not liable for your conclusions.

And most of the time people like you forgot casino signature campaign was not meant to accept user that post frequently outside the gambling board.

If casino company will choose user that post on bitcoin technical board that gets lot of merits there and regular gambling board poster that earn low merit. Who do you think will be most suitable for the casino sig campaign spot?

Yes this is Bitcoin forum but the signature campaign being in question here is gambling related campaign which is the most victim of sig ban. Just ban casino signature campaign if you guys don’t want members to post on gambling board.

This issue becomes a big deal ever since mixer campaign was banned. It’s hard to admit being a pajeet in sig campaign. I understand that but don’t use the pretense that forum is for Bitcoin discussion only since crypto casino is the early adopter of Bitcoin utility when the time that only few people believe on it.

Banned from displaying signatures until Bitcoin 1M

Perhaps I didn't explain myself well when I said that.

When I said that the Bitcointalk forum is a forum about bitcoin and not about gambling, I was referring to its structural basis. The basis is whether it should always be about Bitcoin and crypto. But that doesn't mean you can't post about other topics, or that people are obligated to post about any specific topic.

That's why there are several sections, so that people can talk about many different topics. Anyone can post wherever they want.
Furthermore, I have nothing against that section of the forum, as I even participate in it.

That being said, the debate in these sections should be like the one people have offline, where people express their ideas about games and sporting events. The type of conversation changes every week because the game is dynamic; things happen in one game that don't happen in another. They shouldn't get into a loop of the same conversation.

I'll give you an example. In my country, you wouldn't believe the number of television programs dedicated to debating football. They manage to find enough content to spend three hours debating, every day of the week. Some channels even have debates in the late morning, mid-afternoon, and evening, every day of the week. I'm not talking about sports channels, but news channels, like CNN.

Do they always talk about the same thing, or do they always say the same thing about the same subject? Of course not, otherwise people would stop watching these programs.

Perhaps the reality is the same in other countries. But the point I'm trying to make is that people should express their ideas, and not just repeat the basics of what they say. It might happen once in a while, because there really isn't much else to say. But, systematically, it ceases to be positive.

I think the problem that's been happening is that people are constantly repeating what's already been said (even with different words) because they don't want to waste time writing more elaborate things.

I believe the admin at some point was vocal about not caring for seo rankings and the forum never actually ranked well for those at any point either.
If you ask me, there is a balance. There is no want for posts in bitcoin related sections, there is even a lot of spam there too in addition to useful posts that we get.

But I didn't mention SEO. The problem lies in how the forum is viewed abroad. That, indeed, can lead to more complicated situations.

Furthermore, the forum performs very well in search engines; anyone who thinks otherwise is mistaken. That's why casinos want to advertise here. Believe me, it's not just for the users.

Having influence in search engines isn't just about appearing in the top results; that's often not even synonymous with good performance. But that's a different debate altogether.

Regarding spam in other sections, perhaps much of it comes from users who want to level up just to participate in subscription campaigns. Something to think about.

Anyway, I'm already going on too long and getting too off-topic, sorry.
I just wanted to finish by saying that I have nothing against the betting section. I simply agree with the idea that it shouldn't be a section that allows for lowering the quality of posts that this community has always had.

...
I understand the final decision is still up to nutildah. I just hope this can be reconsidered, since I've already acknowledged the mistake and I'm willing to fix it.

After this, I will try to add some reason or personal experience when I talk about casino or sports topics, instead of just giving a short opinion.
