The Idaho 1/4 Goldback honors Justitia, the virtue of justice. She stands with scales, sword and blindfold, symbols of fairness and restraint. The smallest Goldback yet, measuring 1.99 inches x 3.228 inches!

Goldbacks resemble standard paper currency in shape but are made with thin layers of 24-karat gold. Initially introduced in Utah following the Utah Legal Tender Act of 2019, they serve as a voluntary currency, allowing transactions at the vendor's discretion. Since then, additional states have each launched their own Goldbacks in subsequent years, with Idaho recently becoming the eighth state to adopt this unique form of currency.

The Idaho Half Goldback
The Idaho 1/4 Goldback was the first quarter denomination ever designed. At its forefront stands the virtue Justitia. She is the classical personification of justice, which has been used for centuries to represent fairness over power. She carries raised scales for weighing truth and a lowered sword to show restrained authority. A blindfold covers her eyes to demonstrate impartial judgement.

The design is layered with Easter eggs that reflect Idaho’s history and values.
