If you want to find a permanent job or job then you must look for a government job. In this, the tenure of the job is long and you can work for a long time in this job without any hassle, you will not get so much benefit in company based jobs, where you have to spend all your energy behind the work, private companies will give the highest priority to your work. Even after spending so much energy working in private companies, they are laying off employees, they are looking for more workers and making them work at low wages. Private companies always create pressure on the governments.

Employers have no conscience. If emotions are used to hire workers and keep them, many businesses will fail. Haven't you come across business owners who complain about how their employees mismanage the business funds and run away, leaving the business bankrupt?
A business owner has to focus on whatever makes his business up and running. If it means sacking all the employees, hire AI machines to facilitate the business. The relationship between an employer and an employee should be strictly business.
The loyalty of an employee is to keep his job. The day he stops being loyal and committed to his job he loses the job, and if he is loyal changes can be made in the company that will make him lose his job.

Surely there should be a goal shift, candy how careers should be seen. A shift from finding a company that can keep you for 20-30 years, to building skills, relationship and financial independence that can remain valuable when one becomes disposable.
Many people become very comfortable once they are able to secure government jobs because there is a high level of job security when you're working for the government than when you're working for a private firm. But this comfort in getting government jobs should not mean you to relax and not try to seek another source of income should in case something happens to the job you already have. The dependence on the job alone after being able to secure one is the mistake many people make. After securing a job, the next target should be either developing a skill or going deeper into the existing skills you have or simply starting a business. Yes many people are quite relieved when they get government jobs because job security is more in government jobs compared to private organizations basically we all know that private job security depends on the company and performance. However it is clear that jobs are no longer the 100% reliable and safe haven they used to be because it seems to us the global economy, technology and changing corporate culture are eroding the idea of a permanent job. In addition to artificial intelligence and automation, sudden layoffs and inflation and income inconsistencies, jobs are no longer safe havens but to my knowledge if everyone creates alternative sources of income and skill upgradation they will be able to create income streams.

In the case of employment, it is certainly foolish to consider it permanent. Although there are some jobs where there is a long-term certainty, in most cases there is no certainty. In the case of those involved in civil service, they have a job for a specific period of time, but when the time is up, they have to come from there. Maybe for them, the job is a good gift later on, but that is not enough. That is why I think everyone should not depend only on the job but do something on their own that will provide them with financial security as well as job security. There are many employees who have served for a long time with dedication and have contributed a lot to that organization, but if for some reason they feel that they are not needed, then they can be fired at any time. You will never find peace by keeping yourself in such uncertainty.

Quite pathetic. The best thing is to be independent but the funny thing is that you hardly stay to build capital before you are layed off if you have a higher paying jobs. What some big companies do is to higher a professional and put some people under those professionals to learn the ropes and technicalities in it. Then, within a short time the professional may be relieved of his duty or they reduce his pay package which will force him to seek another job somewhere. When they leave then the company replaces them with the personnel that was under him while they pay smaller amount compared to what they paid the previous staff. Sometimes you also don't blame companies who cut down on labour force because of the situation of high cost of production and low sales due to insufficient cash flow in the system and also the tax paid to government. Businesses like to cut cost to maximize profit.

Well, everything you've just talked about clearly explains reality. Companies at some point are often forced to make certain tough decisions especially when it boils down to making a choice between what's best for the company and what would please their staffs. And it's always a tough situation for most employees to handle especially when they heavily depend on that particular work, and clearly have no backup plans to fall back on. I think it's very important for employees to understand that loyalty is never enough. Whether we like it or not, companies will always put their interest ahead of those of their staffs. The least employees can do is have an already working backup plan... You don't have to wait until you get laid off before having a backup plan. Sometimes, getting another job can be very difficult, which makes having a backup plan even more important as it gives you something to fall back on temporarily.

Witnessing huge layoffs from employment giants like PayPal, Dell and Uber, something is definitely has definitely change in the job space that's not talked of as much. This very much talked about. Infact it has trended on social media for some time to the extent that many people are aware of this and company loyalty is no longer in their life and career's goal. Surely there should be a goal shift, candy how careers should be seen. A shift from finding a company that can keep you for 20-30 years, to building skills, relationship and financial independence that can remain valuable when one becomes disposable.
Are you aware that, companies on the other hand know of this and no longer train their employees and staff like they used to? Because they know that they may walk away after the acquiring the skills from the training which would be a loss to them. So it is a two way thing.

Looking at your heading, the skepticism becomes so high. However, a drastic layoffs and in high number is usually for company best known reasons, although in these cases global giants are consigned but that doesn't completely qualify the fact that jobs that ladders are climbed will no longer be secure. Laying off employees in mass or not sometimes is the company being evil through the person in charge reason best known and sometimes the company have to layoff employees to continue to exist. Reasons to layoff employees varies from company to company and time to time.

The thing is, you just work on the job, you don't own the company that offers the job, so whether you like it or not, the company management can easily cut their connection to any of their employees most especially if the company is facing tough challenges and financial lapses. With this, I can tell that getting a job isn't a guarantee of long term stability, the company will only keep you if they still benefit from you but that does not mean that they will keep you forever as long as you want to.
There is no security in one's corporate job, the reason why some people proceed to their own businesses and become the boss of their own.

Downsizing has always been a thing, if a corporation feels they have redundant members of staff, and they can be efficient with less manpower than they currently have on their payroll, they'd not hesitate to lay off some of their workers. It is even more prevalent nowadays, were AI can handle so many repetitive/routine jobs, and these institutions no longer need humans in these roles.
That said, the shift is ongoing and it would continue into the future. It is up to individuals to align themselves with what is happening through learning highly sought-after skills that are applicable today, not stuffs that can easily be replaced by artificial intelligence.

It becomes a huge bother for someone who has no skill in handling a business, I mean those who are built for the corporate world because it means that there will soon be a time where they will be in search of jobs and will struggle to secure one, and even also a time where their relevance reduces as AI takes over many corporate job roles. If you don't know business you have to learn business because the corporate world is no longer safe, business does not always mean you must sell a product, you can invest in a skill and offer a service.

Working as a private employee do not hold any guarantee that your job will forever be yours. Changes are inevitable, and you can be one of those affected with those drastic changes. So yeah, a private job is never secured. One day, you're on it, the next day the job is no longer yours.
However, with government jobs, you can work on it until due retirement. But here's the fact, keeping that government job alone will not make you achieve financial stability and security. Sometimes, you have to go out from that comfort zone, and maybe luck will find you and put you in a job that isn't replaceable.

You will still find job security working on a government job rather than owning a private job. However, the idea to work on it for a lifetime may not be sufficient enough so we can live on a debt free and secured life. We have to mix job with some potential investments and businesses because they can offer us multiple flows of income than just sticking with our single job alone which limit us from maximizing our potential profits.

Always have a Plan B. Nowadays the world is changing quite fast. A high paying and stable job may turn 180º overnight, and employees may have to find something else to maintain their life status. We aren't in the 60's anymore, when our grandfathers could live peacefully and stably working the whole life on the same company and retiring there after decades of contribution.
The modern human being is more disposable than ever. First of all, you have to value yourself, to respect your identity, values and protect your self. And don't expect the world around is going to do this for you.
Don't get concerned about being useful for a company in particular. Be concerned about being necessary for society.

This is the reason why you don't have to just focus on your job but start a small business that has potentials to grow once the audience bite it. Regardless if you are privately or government employed, the idea to stick with your job isn't sustainable enough. Although getting a stable government-based job means long-term security but the income is still limited, and that's where you have to go out from your safe zone and enter small business or investments that will most likely sustainable for long, without leaving your stable job.

People are built differently, not everyone has the capability to manage a business or be entrepreneurs and for these persons and most persons in society, getting a well paid job in some firm or government body has always offered some securities and promises of stability.
I don't think human capability is the issue here, it is the willingness to go into businesses that we are lacking. So long as I'm concerned, the society has preconditioned our mind that success is when you go to school and land a good paying job, but that is false. Infact, in general, that you have a good paying job does not guarantee success in the long run. Jobs don't last forever but your personal legacy (investment) can live on even if you are no longer in this world. For example, football is a very high paying job, but there are still many cases of broke footballers immediately they retire from their jobs, because they didn't invest into other businesses. Most of the good paying jobs we see today are owned by someone or an entity. If you consider your paycheck a good one, can you imagine what the owners might be earning? I guess yours will be considered peanut when compared to theirs. That is why it is difficult to see employees being listed among the world richest people. In a nutshell, I'll like to encourage people to shift their mind set and focus more on entrepreneurial skills so that you can start up your own from the salary you earn. Don't totally depend on another man's business to survive.

The job market is pretty competitive these days. It's not just people competing with each other anymore, but also with AI. So there is really no such thing as 100% secure job, even in the government sector. If government wants to trim down or restructure their whole system, you are just as likely to get laidoff as anyone in the private sector. Honestly I'd even argue government job are riskier, cause the political infighting is just way too much. The second a new administration comes in, your job's at risk right away if you're tied to the old one. The solution is you should always have a backup plan, I mean like a side hustle or some kind of business on the side alongside your main job.

It seems that mass layoffs have become widespread. And this is just the beginning. Soon, a large number of people from the middle class will join the ranks of the unemployed. And they will be very, very angry. Because they feel deceived. In fact, that’s exactly how it is, because capitalism told them: get an education (pay for it), work, invest your income, take out loans and consume more, and a stable, secure future awaits you.
Long ago, Lenin saw the problem in the proletariat’s lack of education and made great efforts to fix it (and the workers learned to shoot the bourgeoisie; they even shot the last Russian emperor). And now, a whole huge middle class with excellent education will be thrown out onto the streets. What consequences will this cause?

For a long time now, getting into a good company brought about the feeling of finding a home. You work hard, stay loyal, climb the ladder, And then expect the company to reward such a loyalty with stability. Well, in today's reality, that is no longer the case.
Companies often have targets, shareholders obligations to fulfill, competition, and operating costs to all to navigate. If the numbers no longer make sense then drastic actions need to be undertake.
Personally I don't think it's about the company being evil, but more about incentives. A company can value an employee but still decide that keeping that employee doesn't make economic sense.
A very uncomfortable lesson.
Surely there should be a goal shift, candy how careers should be seen. A shift from finding a company that can keep you for 20-30 years, to building skills, relationship and financial independence that can remain valuable when one becomes disposable.
I don't have a lot to say about this topic than this. Becoming the boss of yourself and running your own company or business is way better and reliable than working under another boss, smart people don't plan to spend 30 years of their life under someone else. Too many people are comfortable with their jobs and they shouldn't be, because it's never their own and one day they will be replaced easily, this isn't the first time and it will never be the last time. When you are working under someone always plan ahead, spending over 2 years already in a Job is increase of possible layoff, so save enough money and start doing something for yourself.

These days, people are undergoing professional developmental training to improve their skills so as to match up with the competition in the job market, especially now that we have AI also competing actively with humans. Anyone can be displaced at any time. It could be from getting fired as an individual, retirements or a fault from the organisation which is no longer productive and decides to lay off some staff members to safe cost for the organisation. Now, no one should be comfortable on one job. There should be constant development to match up with current technological trends. In addition to that, there must be a backup plan just incase... I know some persons who became stranded after they lost their jobs.
