~snip~ Surely there should be a goal shift, candy how careers should be seen. A shift from finding a company that can keep you for 20-30 years, to building skills, relationship and financial independence that can remain valuable when one becomes disposable.
This is true, people should look for a job that could develop some skills, give them experience in order to secure their job, or possibly their next one. And most of the time being loyal to the company doesn't really rewards you, there are companies out there that pays higher to the new recruit rather than the tenured. Imagine staying for a company for a long year then knowing that the new employees salary is almost the same as yours.

I agree with you a job whether high paying or low paying can be lost at any time, as there is no guarantee of permanence. Employment can be lost due to the employer decisions or one own mistakes. Therefore, to secure your future it is essential to accumulate capital alongside your job this ensures that if a setback occurs۔you have investment options available. If you have sufficient capital you could even start a business or make investments while keeping your job thereby increasing your income and avoiding financial hardship.Even with a government job, difficulties can arise unexpectedly so it is crucial to plan prudently today for the sake of tomorrow.
Only few people that are earning salary know this, majority of people do not even think that it will end, that was why if they retired they found life so difficult just because their fully depend on only one source of income. It is very dangerous for someone to depend on only one source of income, because immediately that has been taken away from him or her you will see that some of them nearly commit suicide. Even though the job is not taken away from them, you can see that our responsibility is increasing everyday and it will get to a stage we're what we are earning cannot cover it up. No matter the situation we found ourselves in she always make sure that we don't solely depend on one source, even though it is a business, having multiple way help us grow without any thinking.

Currently, companies evaluate employees based on performance—viewing this as a workplace imperative—even though it can lead to hurt feelings between long-term staff and new hires. Such friction is inevitable and depends on company policy; furthermore, there is no such thing as absolute job security, as employment can end at any time. Ultimately, however, starting a business from scratch is a better path, despite the initial challenges.

The shift that I'm seeing in terms of employing staff to work and be entitled to retirement packages when they have used their youthful age to work is fading away because employers no longer want to be responsible for workers retirement, they prefer to pay you enough for a job done like a contract. Technology is another factor why jobs are no longer secured, a business owner would rather rely on a machine to get their tasks done faster and efficiently without paying salaries and asking for a raise and retirement gratuities then a human who wants job security.
We hear that AI is already taking people's jobs and many degrees are not a guarantee of a good job and good life. To become relevant in today's labor market you have to learn and develop skills that are in demand then work towards becoming your own boss, only big corporations and working for government can give you a good job security.

The aspect of acquiring skills and being financially independent is very crucial. Working with a company for many years and being loyal doesn't mean the person job is secured , because anything is possible .A company may want to reduce its workforce as a result of financial reasons, and may have no other options but to lay the person aside , despite years of loyalty. For this it won't be good thing to put all ones hope in a single company and is risky. When someone is lay off unexpectedly, having a skills and some savings will definitely help them to be able to sort themselves out . Being loyal to ones employer isn't bad but this shouldn't stop someone from acquiring skills or from making saving or stop someone from personal development.
As an employee working for someone or for a company, you should not depend on that job alone, you should also keep building your Plan B. Even if the company does not dismiss you, it is very rare for someone working under another person to achieve full independence or the enjoyable life they are dreaming of. Relying on one job alone is unreliable and also the government jobs are among the most secure jobs in some nations. But it is very hard to get an opportunity to secure a government job, especially in many underdeveloped countries. In some countries high inflation is one of the factors that can make someone avoid staying loyal and working for someone, even if they have skills and knowledge.

I think we simply no longer live in a world where job security actually means anything. It just doesn't exist, and the public sector, as well as large corporations, are not a guarantee that you will have a normal, secure old age or even a cloudless present. Work always had a utilitarian nature before, but now we are living in the absolute height of this. There is a specific agreement for specific work. If you do it and there is no more demand, they say goodbye to you. Unfortunately, that's how it is. And the demand for skills also changes at the speed of sound. You need to be adaptable and learn quickly — that is the only thing that will help you survive in the modern world.

This is getting way too reoccurring for my liking, just last 2 months, my cousins was laid off from his work without any severance package or some sought. I think one major consideration for this companies is the economy consideration like you said but one major aspect you didn't mention is the use of AI, gradually its taking away lots of work now, especially manual laborer, gradually alot of minor decisions making roles would he taken over.

If I answer honestly, I would really say that those who have the ability to do business should not come to work in any way. A job is a profession where you have no freedom. You will get money from an organization and in return you have to give everything you have to that organization. Many times you will feel that they have bought you and in return they are paying you money every month and they can do whatever they want with you. The most terrible thing is that they can fire you at any moment if they want. Jobs are for those who do not have the ability to do business but those who have the ability to do business should never become employees instead of becoming entrepreneurs or businessmen.

You are right, and when you look at it, even business are not easy to setup, then talk of a successful business. After going through school and at the end, you are settling for a business, which you don’t know if it will be successful or not doesn’t sound right. Besides, the money to setup a good functioning business is not small also. So these reason is why some people just prefer to be employed by a company. Sometimes it not as if they are okay With the pay, but there is no choice, needs and wants needs to be financed every month. Companies are not doing good, they love to take advantage of someone, but until you are well setup, manage the company work you have, at least to be able to carter for yourself.

Experience in your field matters more than a job, even when it’s stable you should think of a better future by securing a small investment that can save you for the next decades of your life. The huge shift between a worker and advanced technology is worrying a lot of people who mainly need a stable source of income. Why I mentioned experience here, is that even when your company decides to let you go, you will have opportunities with your profile and of course, you need also to be smart and competitive. Speaking about the shift, back in time workers were more important to the company. Human resources now are replaced by AI and automation where they can replace many fields. At the same time, some jobs cannot be done without a human worker, which means it’s more important to have at least two different experiences.

This kind of scenarios depends on the country and the nature of the job in question. There was also a recent situation with an accounting friend who was laid off work for no reason too, maybe there was a better replacement or his services were not needed anymore. There are specific jobs that are in high demand and can never be replaced by AI on the long run, but it's painful to see that the insurgence of AI has cost so many people their jobs.

Certain jobs have their job security. Government jobs in countries outside US, jobs that require physical labor and jobs that need human intervention fully will never go out of practice. In fact the jobs that are repetitive and dull will be the first to move out because of the AI use.
Hence when one is looking for future prospects, try to get into a professional course that ends up being in such a sector and not writing reviews for a company's blog, AI can do that any day.
Also additional sources of income are necessary, invest in bitcoin and traditional assets to make sure you have some stuff to rely on in case things go further South.
Having a job in the government it can be as a guarantee of a bright future until old age, not to mention that after retirement will receive severance pay every month of his... My country, where a person works in the government of his life is happy especially with the high class level. Working in a company can be fired at any time laid off, as long as you do not have special skills, you will not get additional income, now many sectors are open, courses exist where we live how we want to follow them, on the internet there is a lot of learning about this. The most important thing for me now is to understand AI how they use it, this can produce quite good, starting from content creators who rely on AI can be a good opportunity for us.

Witnessing huge layoffs from employment giants like PayPal, Dell and Uber, something is definitely has definitely change in the job space that's not talked of as much.
For a long time now, getting into a good company brought about the feeling of finding a home. You work hard, stay loyal, climb the ladder, And then expect the company to reward such a loyalty with stability. Well, in today's reality, that is no longer the case.
Companies often have targets, shareholders obligations to fulfill, competition, and operating costs to all to navigate. If the numbers no longer make sense then drastic actions need to be undertake.
Personally I don't think it's about the company being evil, but more about incentives. A company can value an employee but still decide that keeping that employee doesn't make economic sense.
A very uncomfortable lesson.
Surely there should be a goal shift, candy how careers should be seen. A shift from finding a company that can keep you for 20-30 years, to building skills, relationship and financial independence that can remain valuable when one becomes disposable.
We shouldn't even focus on the companies; we should rather look at the perfect scam our school system completely pulls on us from day one. So many universities are still taking huge amounts of school fees just to teach the youth worthless theories from many years ago, then making them feel like the colorful degree paper they obtain after graduation will secure them automatic employment anywhere, until the students graduate and enter the real market before they realize that the top companies only care about the practical skills that you can just browse and learn on YouTube for few months. So the companies are not really that evil, but the schools never tell our generation about the job market changes while we were so busy cramming textbooks.

Universities often can't cover market shifts simply because the people teaching there are actually outside the market. They work in an artificial construct where they don't have to constantly win open competition the way specialists outside academia do. Their existence is more stable and measured, so many trends just pass them by. When you live in such a refined bubble, you can't teach students adaptability, how to develop new skills, or how to read a fast-changing market.

That is still a case. Companies do not simply kick you out. They have some rules and regulations to follow which won't allow them to kick any employee just because they no longer need them. I have one of my friend working in a top company with SAP projects but from past 1.5 years she did not get any projects but yet the company is paying her the fixed salary. All she does is goes to office, have a cup of coffee and chill until logout. She is getting paid for that so I don't really think companies are just going to kick you out.
Yes, they might kick you out if they feel you are not contributing your best or not working in the expected manner. They already have an alternative so they would not really think twice before kicking you out if you do not follow the policies.

Well if you are working person, then definitely you will need to save a lot of money along the way as jobs are not secured. Although you can still work with some companies and stay for 10 years and then moved on. But that thing is that if you work, then nothing can happen to you unless you go into business. That's why in the beginning, if you have a dream to be a entreprenuer, then you can start with a daily job, save enough money and then quit and established your business so that you have total control of your life.

Jobs today aren't even long term anymore, unlike in the past where my parent were able to build a lot of properties using salary, today no one dares do this unless that job isn't a very common one and it's going to take alot of your time and effort.
Things have changed completely, it's either you become a boss of yourself or you choose to work under someone who can sack you one Monday morning, but can't deny that there are some jobs that will always be there no matter what.
Examples are lecturers and teachers, they hardly get sacked at their jobs, it's just that skills are paying more than servicing the public, either ways you choose what suits you best.

The most important thing for me now is to understand AI how they use it, this can produce quite good, starting from content creators who rely on AI can be a good opportunity for us. Content creation is becoming so easy to do that the quality of content being produced is going down. Narration, presentation of a topic are few difficult tasks that humans will do best. But they are tough even if they might sound easy. Most of youtubers out there who are famous have been good in those skills but every other day a run off the mill creator arrives only to struggle for years before realizing that they were never meant for this type of work. The bad thing is that this type of work is easy to get into but difficult to sustain. A professional course requires a proper degree and skills and I always support that over poor quality content.

With the right skill, every lay off becomes an opportunity to launch into a new space and attempt something bigger because because there are still many jobs that are looking for the best of brain that will take them to the next level. the issue of unemployment that is mostly talked about is a big deal because there are a lot of unemployable individual that are hovering the street with little to no skill that that gives them edge in the market space. Competition is getting too serious and with AI and automation becoming a big deal, companies are working towards deploying these technology as a means of reducing cost and if you are working in a spot that can be easily replaced with technology, when there is need for layoff, you are the one that will be taken out firstly. if you care about sustaining your job, then create something and become the best and get a skill that is in serious demand and provide your service to different people such that you can make options as to the kind of organization you want to work for.

This is something that I observed too. The number of contractual jobs are increasing instead of permanent jobs. Employers prefer paying for a fixed duration with no retirement bonus maybe because this helps them cut costs and increase company profits. Employees still prefer joining these contractual roles because they can hardly find any other option. These employees might be happy as of now because they are getting well paid but they have no future stability. Once the contract expires, they would need to find other opportunities or have enough knowledge to stick in the same role and get a permanent employment over there. Even big corporations and laying off employees but yes, they intimate at least a couple of months back giving us room to find another job. Yes, government jobs are much safer but only as of now. We never know when technology would take over government jobs.
