It's true that job market has changed a lot in recent years and doing job in well known companies doesn't guarantee a person can safely do his job what people expected before. Nowadays companies can lay off workers whenever they face financial issues or experiencing trouble cause company also need to keep their business running. That's why we need to plan about our future and better to develop skills besides job. Having a good job is blessing but saving money from job is the most necessary part cause losing a job can happen suddenly.

Mostly youngsters try to connect with the companies who basically used to work on high scale. It may be multi national companies that usually offers attractive salary packages plus lot of incentive amd facilities. These jobs are the dream of the many employees, but when they become the part of it they realizes that there is lot of stress or work load is present. Or companies often regards only when they are collecting profits for the firms.

During any ups and downs they suddenly take the decision of filtering the employees or reducing the workforce. Because for them their reputation and existence is always important, they don't care about the employees future or their stability. So even doing hard working or loyalty no one has permanent job security. One has to work hard to establish passive earnings, otherwise it would be difficult to cope with any emergency situations.

Witnessing huge layoffs from employment giants like PayPal, Dell and Uber, something is definitely has definitely change in the job space that's not talked of as  much.

For a long time now, getting into a good company brought about the feeling of finding a home. You work hard, stay loyal, climb the ladder, And then expect the company to reward such a loyalty with stability. Well, in today's reality, that is no longer the case.

Companies often have targets, shareholders obligations to fulfill, competition, and operating costs to all to navigate. If the numbers no longer make sense then drastic actions need to be undertake.

Personally I don't think it's about the company being evil, but more about incentives. A company can value an employee but still decide that keeping that employee doesn't make economic sense.
Actually company do have target, which is often their priority, and their share Holder happen to be one of the investors that made the company what it is financially technically and otherwise. They are the sole founders and the effort are more recognized more than employee, employee happens to just be a contributor with less priority. That's why they can hire and fire any employee at any given Time. As a employee you don't have to relent or think of relaxing in your place of work, hoping for promotion or increase salary base on your efforts. It's better you begin to look for way out to start something reasonable no matter how small because employer don't see you as anything.

I agree that even working at a good, recognizable company doesn't protect you from being fired, laid off, or even the company collapsing. And that there is no certainty it will last for long, or that you can stop worrying now and not think through backup plans. We no longer live in a world where people could work at the same job for decades, growing there and feeling a sense of belonging. But it is still better to work like this than to live in a state of constant freelancing, where there is no certainty at all. And it’s only an illusion that you set your own pace, depend on no one, and can do whatever you want. In reality, it turns out you can sit for months without income, having no idea whether you’ll have work at all.

I agree it's not about constantly chasing the next thing, more about not tying your entire sense of security to one employer. A good job can still be a great foundation, but keeping skills sharp and a bit of savings aside makes the ups and downs easier to handle.

I think savings is important but they are for specific problems that may arise unexpected. Savings will not take you anywhere as long as you are salary earner. What you should do as a salary earner is to make priority of your earning, set aside money that you are going to use to sort bills, the one for savings especially when it comes to emergency and the most important one is investment. Make investment that will protect your money from inflation for the next 10 years.

If you are from my side, you will know why we occupied cryptocurrcency. My country lead as one of the countries with remittance, this is because our paper money has been destroyed by inflation. It's getting better recently but it has never been better all these years. This is why we fear inflation and make investment with crypto and make savings in dollar currency.

Because often, extensive career experience even becomes a kind of obstacle to a new position, since they look for specialists who are so adaptable that you simply don't manage to become one if you work full-time at one company for more than two years. And a paradox turns out: if you change jobs often, it's suspicious. If you stay too long at the same company, it's perceived as sitting in one place, and consequently, conformity.

If anyone is from poor family then he should get a job which is best for him because job will give you stable income but today time is modern and people have to secure their future by getting skills of modern time as we know that today there is need of AI and you can get certificate about AI and you can earn more by studying how to use the AI  Job is helpful for us because we have nothing other than job. The people who are earning from business they are best because they have not to give more effort as comparison to job people. Job people are giving their best for the owner but after that owner is not happy. Skills are important and if you are practical person then you will survive in all times

A very uncomfortable lesson.

Surely there should be a goal shift, candy how careers should be seen. A shift from finding a company that can keep you for 20-30 years, to building skills, relationship and financial independence that can remain valuable when one becomes disposable.

Companies are now greedier than ever. They've noticed AI's promise to reduce costs and improve efficiency, leaving them no choice but to ditch the human workforce. No need for sick pay, a regular wage, etc. AI and Robotics will take care of everything. This explains why job security is scarce within the corporate sector (especially in tech). We just need to adapt ourselves by upskilling. Learn something AI can't do yet. Becoming indispensable is key towards survival within a challenging labor market.

The only jobs that are considered "secure" are those in the government or the military. That is if you're "lucky". People are now working two jobs to prevent losing their income stream if all of a sudden their employer decides to replace them. Plan ahead thoroughly, and there should be nothing to worry about.

Salaries are less reliable than assets in the AI era. Im focused on getting my asset-related income as higher as possible before all jobs are replaced by AI. In a long enough timeline this will be the case, for at least most jobs. Thus the owners of assets will be able to have passive income from the AI economy. Those that do not have assets will have to rely on state-related pensions, and one may as well get the income directly from the AI economy. What do I mean by AI economy, well, simply by buying the Nasdaq-100, or even the MSCI If you want more diversification, you will already be benefiting from that. If you have enough money to live off-dividends from these broad type of indexes, you should be better than most people that rely on a job or some sort of public income, because any public income will be coming from taxes on these private stocks that are paying you a dividend anyway.

The best approach is having other streams of income when earning from a recognised company or institution. Job security is not and has never been a guarantee because as evolution keeps happening things change and this changes causes job roles and specifications too to change which lead to many loosing their jobs. Even the most extensive career doesn't come with guarantee, it's either we are evolving as trends come and go or we get replaced by job ready evolvers.

That feeling disappeared during the first "personnel optimization." In general, we now live in the age of AI, and because of this, employers are looking for ways to replace people with computers.
We're already seeing how AI is effectively replacing programmers and designers. It hasn't yet replaced doctors, but anyone who has ever spoken to AI about illnesses sees that AI is excellent at making diagnoses, despite warnings that it bears no responsibility. So, it will partially replace doctors, too.

I simply follow some people whose careers seem very motivating to me and worth taking as an example. So, I noticed that even among those who have held executive roles several times, there were still many instances of jobs lasting under a year. And the change of positions and companies happens often. A question arises: why do even such high-level specialists often not stay long in one place? This is also related to the question of job guarantees.

So, it will partially replace doctors, too.

It's a different world that we live in. Before, when we get a job and work for at least 5 months, become a regular employee in the 6th and then we thought that we are safe as we can stay to work for years on a single company. But that idea was shattered with the advent of AI or how the world reacts, like the economic crisis in 2008-2009 or the pandemic.

So there's no such a thing as secured job, unless you are the owner of the company itself. And again, if we talk about AI, we have received a lot of news even in the US that companies are focusing on this technology and many are losing their jobs already.

AI are not free either, and I wouldn't call that greed. It's a strategy to reduce the cost of labour and increase productivity. If I have a business that warrant the use of AI, I'm going to reduce my cost, pay less and get the work done even better than what humans can do or combine less human labour since AI can't stand alone.

If I can get a robot to do a job where I don't have to worry about paying a person that will give excuse for some work, I will take robot that will only involve one time cost with minor maintenance if well maintain.

Quote
The only jobs that are considered "secure" are those in the government or the military. That is if you're "lucky". People are now working two jobs to prevent losing their income stream if all of a sudden their employer decides to replace them. Plan ahead thoroughly, and there should be nothing to worry about.

I will choose government office and industrial owned jobs over field jobs. The military jobs are secure if you remain alive. I don't know how people summon the courage to want to fight war for politicians. I respect people that secure the country from invaders to make a living but that will be the least job that comes to my head even at worst unemployment.

Surely there should be a goal shift, candy how careers should be seen. A shift from finding a company that can keep you for 20-30 years, to building skills, relationship and financial independence that can remain valuable when one becomes disposable.
Aside the government sector I doubt if 10% of the private sector intend to keep employees for long period of time, for example few private companies are wealthy companies so they focus more on contract offer than permanent offer. I know companies like this pay high for example the oil sector, while this job is not permanent the advantage is to plan ahead before time using the income to build a business that can sustain and support one for lifetime.
The government sector on the other hand might not offer such high income, they’re financially capable yet workers income are limited. 20-30 years is like a lifetime offer while the benefit that comes with permanent job is the fact aged workers receive pay after retirement.

I couldn't agree more. Each person need to have their other income streams so if ever their job positions are about to get eliminated by innovation and AI, you have a back up for yourself and family. I think this was never thought of those people who have been comfortable with their jobs and that's why they didn't chose to upgrade or learn new skill for them to have another side hustle. But those people who are worried and start to think of what if for their jobs, they're the ones preparing for it and they're already having their plan b's if the situation worsens.

having a steady job may not be seen as a guaranteed path to create your life, as it was 10 to 20 years or even more ago. but you shouldn’t throw your whole life away for the sake of a dream just because of this idea.

these words are usually directed at people who are about to make their biggest decisions in life. but the people giving this advice can’t offer a better alternative than working a regular job. yes, planning to work at a company for many years may not be as secure a choice as it used to be, but when you consider the other options, it’s still a pretty good choice.

people who are about to make a decision should at least be well-informed. just because regular jobs are bad doesn’t mean everything else suddenly becomes good.

It all depends on the work, and the performance of each person who works. I don't think any company is hypocritical, they are definitely looking for efficiency or better performance.

For example, in my opinion, the work as Customer Service is less secure, because some Crypto exchange companies have recently switched to AI or Bots that answer all questions from their customers, that's part of efficiency in my opinion, even if it doesn't perform better.

Meanwhile, jobs that tend to be safe are those that have a direct impact on the company, which When laying off the workforce can be worse such as for example factory machine technicians, essential production operators, etc.

Even the most extensive career doesn't come with guarantee, it's either we are evolving as trends come and go or we get replaced by job ready evolvers.

That, or you can decide to run your own business and never have to worry about "job security" again. The only problem is knowing how to successfully run that business to prevent going bankrupt in the long run. It takes time, and due diligence to be able to keep your business afloat. Which is why, many people prefer to work for someone else. It's much easier this way.

I'd say once you're able to accumulate a large sum of money, you should invest that money into dividend-paying stocks to build your own passive income system. This way, when you're out of a job, your money will keep flowing as usual. It's all about strategy. Follow the right strategy, and you'll be on your way towards complete financial independence.

I think it is wise to have a passive income source as an alternative source of income, so that the source of income automatically continues to pay you, whether you are working or not. I think the best option for this is investment, or even a business establishment. Your job is dependent on the will of others and you can also be fired due to the evolution of time. Although there is some security in government jobs, it depends on your ability to work. That is why, along with an active income source, a passive income source can protect you from the danger of unexpected dismissal.
