It's true that job market has changed a lot in recent years and doing job in well known companies doesn't guarantee a person can safely do his job what people expected before. Nowadays companies can lay off workers whenever they face financial issues or experiencing trouble cause company also need to keep their business running. That's why we need to plan about our future and better to develop skills besides job. Having a good job is blessing but saving money from job is the most necessary part cause losing a job can happen suddenly.

And it would seem that the longer you work, the more experience you have, the easier it should be to find your next job. But it doesn't work that way. Because often, extensive career experience even becomes a kind of obstacle to a new position, since they look for specialists who are so adaptable that you simply don't manage to become one if you work full-time at one company for more than two years. And a paradox turns out: if you change jobs often, it's suspicious. If you stay too long at the same company, it's perceived as sitting in one place, and consequently, conformity.

The best approach is having other streams of income when earning from a recognised company or institution. Job security is not and has never been a guarantee because as evolution keeps happening things change and this changes causes job roles and specifications too to change which lead to many loosing their jobs. Even the most extensive career doesn't come with guarantee, it's either we are evolving as trends come and go or we get replaced by job ready evolvers.

Especially in the era of AI, organizations are competing to provide a different dimension to everything. Many are losing jobs, those who have been working in one organization for many years are having to leave their jobs without any incentive. Many people I know have already lost their jobs and are working somewhere else, even though they have worked efficiently in that organization for a long time. Never depend on one source of income, even if you work hard, you have to look for alternative sources.
With evolution happening in every field, you also have to acquire skills and this is a reliable strategy for financial security.

I couldn't agree more. Each person need to have their other income streams so if ever their job positions are about to get eliminated by innovation and AI, you have a back up for yourself and family. I think this was never thought of those people who have been comfortable with their jobs and that's why they didn't chose to upgrade or learn new skill for them to have another side hustle. But those people who are worried and start to think of what if for their jobs, they're the ones preparing for it and they're already having their plan b's if the situation worsens.

I think it is wise to have a passive income source as an alternative source of income, so that the source of income automatically continues to pay you, whether you are working or not. I think the best option for this is investment, or even a business establishment. Your job is dependent on the will of others and you can also be fired due to the evolution of time. Although there is some security in government jobs, it depends on your ability to work. That is why, along with an active income source, a passive income source can protect you from the danger of unexpected dismissal.

Most of the passive income that we can have isn't going to be that much. Unless you've got a huge capital and a business that generates stable passive income. But then, being it as an alternative source might not be the ideal IMO but an additional income. Well, right now I'm working three jobs. I don't view this as genuinely separate sources of income, because it's all hired employment subject to the same risks. But still, it is way better than depending entirely on a single salary. And I’m glad that things are working out this way, despite the fact that I have catastrophically little time and work practically all the time. But we live in such uncertain times that it’s better to work a lot and in different places than to count on nothing changing specifically in your life and you being safe.

Having three jobs would help you secure your financial future. The only downside is that you'll have less time to spend in life. You won't be able to focus on yourself or have fun, since most of the time will be spent working. I believe this is not healthy. But if you manage to spare time after thrice as much work, there should be nothing to worry about. This is the price to pay for reckless government spending and uncertain foreign policies. The US is the main contributor of such economic chaos worldwide. Things were starting to get well even with the Russo-Ukraine and Israel-Hamas crises.

With US President Donald Trump getting into war with Iran, the world began to suffer from high energy prices (oil). Now all hell broke loose. Unless the war ends, I don't see inflation settling down anytime soon. It's going to get worse in the US and abroad. If unemployment continues to rise while AI takes over, we will end up in a future where the vast majority of people will depend on government subsidy to survive (like a Universal Basic Income). I sure hope not...

I do not believe that with such an outcome people will be provided with basic assistance. Even strong economies cannot cope with high unemployment rates, let alone weak ones. I live in Ukraine, and the economy of my country is in a catastrophic state. And this is not only because of the war; there are so many factors that it is already impossible to determine the most influential ones. And I don't have the slightest illusion that the state will take care of its citizens if the unemployment rate becomes critical. Here, throughout all ages, people survived on their own; one could not rely on state institutions. But even if we don't take such extreme examples, even in countries with traditionally high living standards, it will be extremely difficult to cope with the problems that the modern world is facing.

Jobs especially from Private organizations or companies have not been certain and secured as far as I know, it is not like the government jobs that are guaranteed to be secure till retirement, the companies layoff employees at their discretion especially when there is strong need to do so.

 The company needs the maximum profit from their operations and when they get the opportunity to reduce operational costs by reducing their employees, then they will take it. That is why many big companies nowadays layoff employees because of how cheap AI can replace those roles.

There is no evil here, these companies run a business and a business will always go for higher profits and as an employee working for them you need to be ready for anything because you were not given any guarantee it will last when you got the job.

The world is changing fast, so the mindset of people needs to change from looking for a job that last to running a business or building a good skill that is needed.

I don't think that anyone can start business or spend a lot of time learning new skills when there is a change in job market. There are people who are living on their monthly salary they cannot take time off to learn new skills or to start business from zero. Companies can reduce costs but that does not mean that they have to lay off the employees who have worked for them for years and years.

Workers invest their time, their efforts, their loyalty, and their generosity towards the company and help it to grow. Artificial intelligence is a tool it helps improve productivity but replacing employees just to increase the profit is not a good or a long term decision. Starting a business or learning new skills is a good idea but stable employment is also necessary because not everyone has the resources to start business and become an entrepreneur.

Worker should be prepared for any sort of changes while companies should encourage them and treat them fairly rather than making job security feel like something that everyone should simply accept.

I am not saying that business should consume all your time; that is not the goal. There will be uncertainty in the job market. You have 3 jobs, but it is almost certain that one of your jobs may go away for some reason. The chances of losing 3 jobs at once are low. This is an assurance that diversifying your income can be equivalent to having a stable source of income. If you have discretionary income after meeting your family expenses with the amount of salary you are getting from these 3 jobs, then this will be a secure financial position for you. Someone who works in one job and has to spend most of the day there cannot start earning through alternative sources even if they want to. Having one job as a source of income puts a person at greater risk financially. It is better to try to diversify your income even if the amount is small.
