Primary duties of every government

I know one of the primary duty of a government is to ensure it citizens safety, of which I have seen so many countries enjoying such duty from their government, but that doesn't not include the Nigerian government, because they don't really care about the safety of it citizens that's more reason the level of insecurities is becoming unbearable, I can tell most of African countries that are really enjoying such duties from their government, not to talk of the western world, i know there's corruption in everywhere but at least the government should show working in some areas to at least boost it citizens confidence, but that's not for Nigeria government.

The Nigeria government is among the governments that don't understand their primary duties. Those aspiring to power in Nigeria don't have the country at heart, they want power just to be able to steal public funds and enrich themselves and their household.

The current government of Nigeria has been unable to protect the lives and properties of its citizens. for the  years and few months spent in office Nigerians have been killed like flies by boko Haram, bandits and unknown gunmen, while we have a government that sworn an oat to protect the lives and properties of its citizens.

Also, they are about  to wrap up their four years in office, yet no Job opportunities have been provided for the citizens. They want to return to office next year, and some foolish Nigerians are busy taking bags of rice in exchange of their vote next year. what a tragic cycle that keep the country trapped in the same problem year after year.

Exactly, not that Nigeria government's is among, they're the no1 government's who doesn't understand their primary duties. From my own observation, i think the faults came from the first government's who ruled after independent and failed not to.plan for the betterment of their people, if the past government's has showed good leadership and with some laws that any leaders who comes to power must abide maybe in times of bad leadership.

Right now Nigeria government's are have failed to protect life's and properties of their people because of their selfish interest, whoever that get into power only think of their families members they don't care what other's are going true, since Mr A went there care about other's they chose to do the same thing  too.

Talking about the present government's right now they're the worst government's so far, ever since they came into power nothing good could be write about them in the history of Nigeria leadership. This present government's has made life's so miserable to every citizens of this country, by making them do what's not good in the eyes of humans. Even with the pains and sorrows they've cost on this country there're still some people who i don't really know what to describe them with are still supporting for their second term, right now they used food items for their campaign because they knew that people are hungry, so the only way to get vote from the masses provide food items for them.

Below are some of the primary purpose of every government. At first I will mention protection of lifes and properties of citizens,  Provision of employment opportunities and so on. All this and many I didn't mention are all duties recognised constitutionally which most governments choose to deviate from because of their own reasons.

These responsibilities are handed down to ministries to ensure that they are effectively carried out and ideally, they are the ones that ought to be held accountable if they fail to carry it out as expected. The president and governors can not do it all other than overseeing what those they have appointed are expected to do.

The unfortunate thing is that those that are in charge of these ministries are selected based off who will be loyal to the dictate of the government in power  rather than through merit and so we have more incompetent people handling these position who do not even have the slightest idea what is expected of them.

I have come to understand that most government deviates from there constitutional duties as a government and goes at it pleases then without being questioned because the citizens at time do not know the primary purpose of government in every country, to start i will be pleased to outline some primary duties enshrined in the constitution.
Below are some of the primary purpose of every government. At first I will mention protection of lifes and properties of citizens,  Provision of employment opportunities and so on. Even though the government has mentioned these issues in the rules, it is negligently deprived of these issues, it does not think about the benefits of the people. In the current situation, those who work in government jobs have more benefits and do not have to face accountability to anyone, because they are performing their duties negligently.
They are doing their work as they wish, so they do not feel the need to be accountable to anyone, this is causing a lot of harm to the country and is creating more difficulties for the future of the country. Therefore, the day the government can properly perform its duties, the country will start reaching the peak of development.

Government is expected to be in control of every affair that pertains to a particular country; the government, ahead, has the full responsibility for anything it is doing or that is happening to the masses they represent.

Being in government is not an act of going after acquiring power to make influence against others and show them your superiority; instead, it is a call for public service, whereby we engage with other people in working together to make a better nation. This also comes through a selfless service we are going to render unto humanity and the nation at large; the government must not fail the people, especially in the areas where they needed them the most, to intervene when it comes to security and fight against every form of attack from among the people.

This is the primary duty of every government and it's not optional, that's a privilege the government owes us (citizens). But it's sad to see that even the barest minimum is now seen as the best the government could provide, that's what the government makes their citizens believe.

To add to what has being said already,  other duties of the government would be:
1. Providing security/ law and order.
2. Provision of adequate health care centers.
3. Providing substantial educational facilities and many others.

But in a country where corruption and deception thrive, we would likely see a government where all these necessities are comprised.
