Do you have better advice? Genuinely? For my friend.
It's good you talked him out of it.

The second golden rule says, "Do unto others as you would want them to do to you."

Yeah, your friend got scammed, and it was hurtful, painful, and all that. However, it shouldn't be the reason to start scamming others too. He should learn from it and move on.

Some persons got scammed, and it encouraged them to learn about scams, and today, they are scam baiters, reporting, preventing, and educating people about scams. Your friend can also be that guy.
Even to me, it sounded like his friend has intentions to scam others in order to recover what he lost. I think that's because he can see easy money there but might oversee the deed. Scamming others would never do good to us is what I think. I strongly believe in karma and I think what we do now will find it's way back to us in future. Instead of scamming, it is better to earn way less but live a peaceful life with no questions asked. Also, I don't think one can really respect that money earned via scamming. That money would disappear much faster.

His friend might want to earn money instead of reporting or educating others. Yes, this is definitely a better choice but I doubt his friend would consider until he recovers the loss.

If I had a friend like that, I’d try to talk some sense into them to get them to give up that idea, but then I’d find a way to end our friendship. I don’t think this person would be an ideal friend for you because someone who’s trying to scam someone else today might think about scamming you tomorrow. Staying friends with someone like that could hurt you in the long run...

There are many people who have started from scratch and achieved success. Your friend can draw the motivation they need right now from people who have hit rock bottom due to similar problems and then climbed back to the top. Life is very difficult for all of us, and we don’t know what tomorrow will bring. At this point, our duty should always be to work hard, but it should never be to scam someone else...

I am somewhat confused after reading all the comments that have come up in this discussion thread. Seeing how everyone is flattering or consoling his friend, it seems that no one really understands why they chose this path. Before solving a problem, one must understand why the problem arose.
The issue is not that your friend just wants to get back the lost money or is deliberately choosing the wrong path. People do not choose unethical paths for no reason. When someone is under extreme pressure, they start looking for ways to get out of it. Finding no path, they think, 'I have to solve this problem no matter what'. At that very moment, they do not have the ability to distinguish between right and wrong.
This has happened in my own case as well. Like the original poster, a friend of mine had invested in cryptocurrency and lost all his money. After that, he started behaving almost like a madman. Eventually, he began to forget the pain of losing money, but with no money in his pocket, he became financially destitute. When a member of his family fell ill and asked him for money, he couldn’t give it. From that moment, he started thinking of himself as the worst person in the world. Gradually, he returned to his unusual state. Now he only thinks about earning money. Sometimes he talks to me about different plans, but I’ve never agreed with him. I knew about his problems, so whenever he was in trouble, I helped him as much as I could. Now he is fully engaged in good work and never thinks about cheating anyone (Very briefly stated).. This is how I listened to my friend problem and helped him get out of those bad thoughts. Since you’re his friend, you should first listen to his problem. He has lost a lot of money and must have faced some kind of crisis ,that’s why he’s suggesting you take this path. You should understand the problem and help him get out of it.

Losing money can make someone feel sad and frustrated after the years of hard work but cheating other people isn't the right thing at all. Cheating may bring some money temporarily but it may destroy someone's future. So he should  reconsider investing again in crypto which may change his life.
Earning money honestly is always better to earn money by hurting people and he should focus on new opportunities instead of trying to recover his losses through scamming others in wrong way

After many years in crypto space he seems to have failed and tired 😩😫

He came to my place yesterday and what he said shocked me as I wasn't expecting such..

Friend, I think we all got it wrong, in crypto space it pays to become a scammer than trying so hard to be an investor and still fail, gullible people are everywhere they will fall for one or two scams easily, he said.

Has your friend look at many scammers that have been investigated and jailed for crypto scam? Stealing doesn't pay and it doesn't matter if it's crypto, anywhere you still that money will not last long. It might not come now, you can enjoy the money for as long as you want but when the times comes, jail will be the end. There are many people that loss everything in one bear market, they stay up and gave everything once more and they make more than they imagined.

Quote
I believe this is coming from his side of frustration, he lost his long time holding in February 2026, I guess he hasn't gotten over it yet obviously, mind you I talked him out of scamming others like a revenge thing.

After he went back home I thought about it very well, scammers are really making a killing in this space, and they are doing it for free, getting away with it, but hurting a human like myself is what I can't do, imagine stealing 10 BTC that belongs to a father who have saving it for years, planning to leave it behind for his family if possible.

Do you have better advice? Genuinely? For my friend.

10 Bitcoin? You didn't say any detail how he lost that amount. If you own that significant amount of Bitcoin, you shouldn't joke around with your security. How do you even loss everything when he didn't use an exchange or is it the regular Trust wallet stories I see around where people get phished? You can't a solution to particular problem until he discus the rest of the story, how he loss the Bitcoin before he can get a better advice.

To be honest, I feel like you are the one that needs this advice not your friend, maybe you are not being honest to us, but is okay, I just want to make something clear, your friend or you didn't lose his Bitcoin to scammers right? He lost it when the market crashed right? Why would anyone possibly think about scamming others? Innocent people that has never stole from you ? People that weren't the cause of your misfortune? There is no good excuse for committing crime and such mentality isn't good in our society. People should learn to be patient and always take other legal means of acquiring wealth. Say no to scam

Many people don't think like this anymore, we are now in one of those evil times where people will gladly kill other people for their own future, this happens a lot in my country, families are surviving on crime to feed the mouth.

A family that consists of older people and they all can't reason like a living being, there is a way that karma works and it makes people questions the existence of karma, people have said it to my face that people's life has to get ruined for others to be successful.

It's a Lion and a Lamb's world, but this feels good coming from a stranger, many people wouldn't care.

You are also sounding harsh towards him. His friend might be talking out of frustration from what he might have observed and not what he has experience with scammers. Assuming he was scammed, and he has the intention of scamming people, he would be doing that and retaliating but it's going to be innocent people and one day if he is caught in the act, he will answer to everything he has done.

Scam doesn't justify anything, even if you are going through health challenges you should never try to scam anyone. If you see the way prison change people and affect mental health after doing time, you wouldn't think of about it twice.
