Do gambling-related websites need a separate news section?

Lately I’ve been thinking about how gambling-related websites handle different types of content. Reviews and in-depth articles are one thing, but short updates feel more natural in a separate feed, so I ended up adding a dedicated news section to LuckAtlas: https://luckatlas.com/en/media-room/

I also made the project multilingual, so anyone who prefers a different language can switch it from the menu.

Curious what people here think — do you actually read short news updates on sites like this, or mostly visit them for reviews and longer articles? And does keeping the news separate make things easier to navigate, or is it just another section you’d probably ignore?

Adding the date of publication would be good. The most current news could be old, and most people would be disappointed to open an article to find out that this information is outdated. 

I am also not comfortable with the starlight on the background of the website. I don't know if it is peculiar to me, but I think it is not eye-friendly. The characters have the same color as the starlight in the background, making it difficult to identify some words.

Most of the guys who are sport fans or gamblers could actually make use of the section to a large extent of only they use your platform or casino, but however it’s a good move and if other casinos (sporty bet companies ) move that way too it’s going to create a natural bond with the users since some will trust the platform for verified news and when they hear or see from other outlets they might need to rush down to your platform to confirm the news.

I don't think the companies has that as priority, the online casino aren't like physical casino where you can build bond where people hang around with others. The casino companies want a place for people to enjoy their time alone and have sufficient service as possible. I don't think a feature that is subjective to individuals is what casino will want to implement in a casino. If you can gamble, you can withdraw and deposit can function properly, you are good to go.

Aside from that, some casino are heavy on their own because of how some games are build to work at anywhere even when the network is not good for some regions. If they decide to add some section that are not generally beneficial to gamblers, it will only slow down the casino. In my opinion, somethings are not necessary in the casinos or sport betting platform.

What exactly do those gambling-related websites plan to post in news section? I dont think that in gambling world happens that many different news, except jackpot wins or something negative (committing suicide because of debt, stealing, someone caught managing illegal gambling). It will turn news section into <insert name> casino promotion and criminal. If I want to read about crimes, I can open any news site. If I want to watch gambling ads, I can start browsing internet Imho there is no much need of a news section.

I believe a dedicated news section could be beneficial. Particularly if a web site's news items are brief and happen with regularity, but might otherwise be included with reviews and longer articles. I am in agreement with the idea of publishing the date. However. If the date isn't specified. It can be hard to determine how up to date the update is. Especially in the context of gambling news where information can rapidly move. Meanwhile. An addition of a news feed could not be the only line of action to attract regular readers since there are numerous methods already in place for them to read the general news. A specific section would be more useful if it had more information relevant to the industry. Users would want to know. And would not come across elsewhere.

OP is free to do his thing regardless of what people are saying, just because I will say that it's not necessarily to build something like this because people are not into something like this doesn't mean it won't work well for you.

It's just that most people today don't use reviews and gambling news platforms like you thought, still maybe this is your path, maybe you need to do this to find yourself? So keep doing what you like.

However it's smarter to work on something that people are lacking, such will bring results better than this, I'd rather spend time trying to create something that people are lacking and also something that has less competition.

From a UI standpoint, keeping news separate from reviews makes sense so the main layout doesn't get cluttered. But realistically, very few people visit review sites specifically to read short news updates.
When gamblers want updates on a specific casino, promos, or policy changes, they check the casino's official ANN thread here on the forum or read their emails. Having a news section won't hurt, but it won't be what drives your traffic - solid reviews and a readable, clean interface matter far more.

I think you actually made a fair point because the reviews on these sites can at times be more of an advertisement than real information. As for me, I would personally be more focused on the news section if the information is about new update on the casino instead of trying to convince people to use a certain casino.

Such informations like changes in withdrawal policy, new payment update, license problems or maybe any kind of important updates that is useful to the casino. Common information like this can still be very useful to a user even though the person is already following the casino discussion here in the forum.

Yeah, this forum is actually enough for you to know a good and reputable casino, if you go through the scam acquisition board, you are going to see a lot of casinos that are constantly having problem. You are actually correct some of all this website that put out a review of a particular casino are usually lies, sometimes because the casinos usually manipulate it through the website owners or they pay people to put out good review about them.

Some of these platforms are already stuffed with so much on them so they try not to get the whole place too busy and over bearing with too many information at a glance, so they will rather prefer not to add the news section, some of these platform does have sections for in-depth analysis, game highlights and many other things they consider that people who use their platform may need and so they will want to reduce how bulky and busy the platform may seem by not adding the news section but then some people may wan to prefer the all in one section and get both the news and all other information at once on same platform. So yes keeping the news separate does makes things easier to navigate and not making it look bulky.

I agree, like a blog website. And that is what some of them have and I usually see this as a common feature that they have with the exchanges. There can be some other updates that are not discussed or posted on an announcement thread. And that's why it is helpful for someone who knows where to go if ever they have some questions if there are some updates or promotions that they have to know or some news that they need to await to come.

I prefer using X or RSS feeds over going to gambling-related platforms that provide these kinds of updates and to answer your second question, a dedicated platform for updates can be great if it comes with a lot of filtering options.

I don't think it's necessary to have a separate website or platform for gambling related updates because everything that's needed is already here so it's not quite necessary to have it's own platform though one can decide to separate articles and reviews from them to ascertain the reputation of those websites, I understand how short updates feels special to the gambler in a separate while on sites because as you have rightly said it makes it easier for us to navigate our way on the website that is created specifically for it as it's only gambling news that will be seen on the site.

Although what is comfortable for me might not be what another individual may like because I'm okay with having gambling related websites without separation and can still navigate my way with the news feed. Some gamblers even visit this very board to know of new casinos they can use for their stakes and to know the reputable one too.

A full-fledged section probably isn't necessary touching upon news items selectively should suffice, given the potentially high volume of news it is better to let users discuss the stories that actually interest them. To avoid the "information dump" you mentioned, careful curation and perhaps professional moderation is essential.
