RIP to Bitsler. It was one of my favourite casinos back in the day. I didn't play much there, as I'm a fan of sports betting by default. I don't know what really happened, but it could be that these new-age casinos put them out of business, and they really should have gone big and included sports betting very early on as the gambling space is super competitive.
Yeah, it was one hell of a ride for them. They launched during the era when most were looking for casinos to stay at and they're able to get into the competition. I still don't know the big issue that they have faced in closing down but I guess you're right that it's hard to compete with their industry these days. As for Duelbits, does anyone know if they have an insurance fund for situations like this?
I've tried to look at their blog site in reading if they are insured or not. But I have found nothing but, maybe they have it for something like this since they are in the money business.

~ Yes pausing is normal. But repeated security breaches are a major red flag.
However site going offline immediately after $7 million went down drain is not any healthy sign at all. So it is natural for user to panic when site suddenly disappear in situation like this.
Even if they return, regaining user trust will not be easy at all, imo.
But they are being transparent about the situation which is a good sign and they already announced that users funds are safe with them means they will cover the 7 million from their own loss. Any crypto platform can be potentially hacked that is why we should not leave any balance left those wallet even if they are a completely trusted one. I also see the transparency of the platform about the situation as a step to gain the trust of the people, but as the above user said, when things like this happen twice, a lot of gamblers will lose their total trust in the platform that the issue happened to. It is what it's some gamblers may see this type of incident as the reason to use decentralized gambling platform.

A similar hacking incident also occurred at Stake casino, where hackers drained the casino's hot wallet. Of course, a security system is in place, but they certainly looked for loopholes to exploit for the attack. Security incidents like this must be a concern for developers. But at least they claim that users' funds remain safe.

Any player that do not try to understand the situation at Duelbits and try to bear with them at this trying time is not being fair in any way. They already announced that the fund of their users is safe, so giving them some time to figure out what the problem was and implement measures that will ensure it does not repeat, is a necessity. Duelbit is a big casino, this is not the first time that have been hacked so I'm sure they will overcome this one too and come back stronger and better.
It isn’t that easy especially when it comes to money, no one will want to experiment trust with their funds, yes Duelbits was hacked before and they bounced back strong but do you think with this second hack that most of their customers won’t be worried? More bad news like this will still come if casinos aren't upping their games from now onward, they need to introduce bounty on their security features of the online casino itself.
They should slow down their promotion and advertising spendings and go full mode on very good security or else this is going to be the beginning, I can't say that the introduction of AI is a doom to us all, it's an eye opening innovation that shows weaknesses.
So yes it's not generally a cursed invention, the earlier they take security seriously the better.

Maybe it will turn into a new trend? Hackers used to break into exchanges and large projects, now within short period of time 2 casinos were hacked. Are casinos new victims? Recent cases are reminder and call for action for other casinos to take a close look on their security, run briefing for its employees and update their security. After casinos, who are going to be next to be hacked?

Most likely Bitsler was closed because of this news Some journalists accessed hacked records of the Curacao Gaming Authority which had the doxxes of all of the crypto casinos on them. Maybe Bitsler was in it, I don't know. But you can see the Duel.com representative talking about it on X here https://x.com/korraflow/status/2101983709998031304 Apparently some of these casinos were involved in unethical practices. It doesn't look good tbh. It wasn't just Bitsler that suddenly closed but Livecasino too Bumping this old and inactive thread as Livecasino is going to close soon. Don't forget to withdraw your funds if you have anything on your Livecasino account. I'm surprised by seeing this email in my mailbox today: It has surprised me as the sister sites of Livecasino (Sportsbet and Bitcasino) just got back into the track again by changing their previous decision. Anyway, they have suggested the users to play at Bitcasino now. AFAIK, Livecasino was focused on Japanese users. I looked for the official reason for Bitsler's closure, I didn't find anything. Shouldn't they be fully responsible for the user identity data they request? The rate of hack these days is truly unprecedented. Every single exploitable server is being exploited, I haven't seen this sort of hack incidents ever. But honestly, I don't see how doxxing will force them to close though—it shouldn't affect their operations. But I guess we can link the both incidents together due to the timing. If you ask me, I don't see a motive for shutting down due to doxxing, besides, they're not the only ones being doxxed. Or maybe it's probably due to the new CGA (Curacao Gaming Authority) rule that will force the expiration and renewal of the present license which will phase out till mid next year, and also create a more strict guideline. Here are some of the guidelines: New crypto rules: What Curaçao licensees must do and when Effective June 2026, the guidelines apply to all group entities involved in crypto transactions, aligning virtual asset management with global AML/CFT frameworks.
Key requirements for iGaming operators include:
• Role restriction: Licensees may only accept crypto for gambling, not as exchanges, custodians or VASPs.
• Blockchain analytics capability: Mandatory wallet screening, risk-scoring and transaction monitoring at deposit and withdrawal.
• Asset controls: Fiat-backed stablecoins preferred; privacy coins, meme coins and wrapped tokens of unclear origin require assessment or exclusion.
• Wallet segregation: Player, operational and treasury wallets must be kept separate; personal or UBO-linked wallets are banned.
• Banned assets: Funds linked to mixers, tumblers or sanctioned addresses are prohibited outright. The CGA mandates immediate prohibition of sanctioned wallets, mixers and operators acting as exchanges. Licensees must then adhere to the following timeline:
• Within three months: Submission of a compliant crypto policy to the CGA portal.
• Within six months: Completion of risk assessments, due diligence on VASPs and staff training on the new requirements.
• Within 12 months (June 2027): Full compliance expected, including segregation of wallets, deployment of blockchain analytics capabilities, transaction reconciliation and maintenance of audit-ready records.
While the CGA mandates a phased approach, it retains the authority to demand accelerated compliance should significant risks materialise.

I think its not a new trend, but rather those hackers is targeting them already for long time. This time they succeed, because they successfully find a vulnerabilities. I'm really surprised about the hacking issue of Duelbits. Since as what I know after they experience a hacking issue before. They made some counter measures and do regular audits or internal security checks, but maybe they didn't do enough checking. Since after all they experience another situation for second time and this is so bad for their casino.

Both news are extremely bad but casinos can recover from hacks, they will poteintially catch the hacker and recover stolen money or recover it slowly over time by generating profit, they will definitely improve the security of their system but what happened to Bitsler really hurt my heart. I was in their signature campaign for years and I was watching how they were slowly becoming popular. They really were one of the best crypto casinos out there and the owner Baryom was a very good and generous guy. By the way, I wonder how did it affect them when they stopped a signature campaign on this forum? During the campaign, they were reigning but as I see in the ANN thread, they haven't been doing well in the past few years, which I assume, are mostly years from 2020.

I don't remember any decentralized casino took off as any of the traditional ones, despite knowing all the risks and even hacks. People are still going with the reputation for sure, this might be a short term fall on Duelbits but they will manage to regain their userbase for sure. I just wish people don't use exchanges as any kind of wallet and keep any balances left in there, just wipe it down when the current session ends and make a new deposit whenever you want to comeback. Because casinos are supporting many cryptos and multiple chains so withdrawal fee will not be an issue anymore.

1. Duelbits Duelbits hacked, total losses $7 million
2. Bitsler Bitsler ceased operations, users were told to withdraw any remaining funds by September 30th, and closed permanently on October 1st.
I have read the duelbits case in somewhere and it is very bad experience for those who lost their funds. As for the Bitsler, they way they are closing is a responsible shut down because they announced to their players. This is the normal way to do things. But I don't know what happened that they are closing. Is it bankruptcy or what? I was not expecting a casino that is making profit and has a good reputation to shut down like this.

You can keep this thread about Bitsler casino alone and their wind-down plans, since there is already a thread about the Duelbits hack in this board and all discussions about it should be in that topic.
I know about Bitsler, but i have never gambled there. I don't know if they have a lot of players in this community, but good thing is that there are more than enough reputable alternatives to migrate to.
Duelbits is a very friendly casino which I have also read about the new in the other thread but this Bitsler is a very strange one to me. Haven to keep deep about this thread, I think it should be a privilege for us to understand that even popular casinos even as they maybe favorites can still vulnerable for invaders which is why we should not trust the companies too full even if they seem to be reputable. Don't get me wrong, there are people who also uses their gambling wallets to store funds. So imagine having a huge sum and it is hit of hacking, sure it could set your funds at risk in terms like this. If you have also fallen victim of such as a gambler, I will advice thorough investigations be made and don't take out of being too urge to gambling after your favorite is compromised and jump into any available one. The Duelbits carries some terrifying tensions than this Bitsler due to their popularities. I am referring to their possessions in the forum. Maybe can be some good to write about to others who are familiar with it. It sound crazy that someone can actually use online casino accounts to store large amount of money but it's possible because people do crazy things this days. Some people still favours keeping their Bitcoin with centralised exchanges rather than doing it themselves and if you ask them why they will say they can't keep it very well, some will say that if the exchange lost the coins they will refund them. If they lost their coins themselves no one will refund them, so I believe that people do a lot of things this days and it's why hacks and scams will never stop, people don't learn their lessons from others stories until it happens to them.

But I don't know what happened that they are closing. Is it bankruptcy or what? I was not expecting a casino that is making profit and has a good reputation to shut down like this. I think it is a natural progression for many casinos: eventually, they either get hacked by fraudsters exploiting vulnerabilities, or they simply stop being as profitable as they once were due to fierce competition gradually drawing their user base away. It is also noticeable that new casinos emerge using aggressive marketing tactics that influence players, leading them to believe however groundlessly that luck awaits them at the new venue it is simply what players want to believe. In any case, a combination of these factors can place critical strain on such gambling businesses and sites, making it impossible for them to recover and continue operating as before. Unfortunately, everything comes to an end...

It isn’t that easy especially when it comes to money, no one will want to experiment trust with their funds, yes Duelbits was hacked before and they bounced back strong but do you think with this second hack that most of their customers won’t be worried? Another thing that will be in mind of most of their customers will be that even if they survive this particular hack what is the guarantee that Duelbits won’t be hacked again? I feel Duelbits would have done everything possible to strengthened their security after that first hack so that such wouldn’t have reoccured because such repeated stories of hacking are not so good for a casino, it kills users trust and with the influx of many other casinos i doubt that most of their users will be patient with Duelbits at this trying time.
Well, based on your opinion, you can put any casino under suspicion of being unreliable, since In this day and age, hackers are capable of breaching almost anything. Which is more worth trusting? I expect Duelbits to implement more robust security protocols following this incident. Losing millions and rebuilding your business is worthy of respect, as not everyone will find the strength to do it. There's an unpopular controversy that I think we should also take note of. Allegedly, and I'm not saying any part of this rumor is true, but perhaps this was a properly planned scheme since the tracks were covered in a way that nobody could trace it back to the people behind it. Maybe an insider has always had a hand in it which explains why they had to try again after the first attack in 2024. If we check the records and compare the method of the hacks, there are pretty much similar. There's no record of a data breach, leak whatsoever. These particular hackers usually break through the security and gain unauthorized access, there by compromising the private keys to the casino's functional wallet. Notice the pattern?

I don't remember any decentralized casino took off as any of the traditional ones, despite knowing all the risks and even hacks. People are still going with the reputation for sure, this might be a short term fall on Duelbits but they will manage to regain their userbase for sure.
I just wish people don't use exchanges as any kind of wallet and keep any balances left in there, just wipe it down when the current session ends and make a new deposit whenever you want to comeback. Because casinos are supporting many cryptos and multiple chains so withdrawal fee will not be an issue anymore.
You have a point and the reason why decentralized casino don't take over is due to their limited gaming services, while some are yet to gain the trust of online gamblers, but I am not talking about a takeover that will happen this year or next year because Rome is not built in a day. I am talking about the power shift that could happen when people have had enough of data breaches and hacking attacks on centralized gambling platforms. Aside from people not using centralized exchanges as a wallet, we shouldn't use centralized gambling platforms as a wallet either, or any other centralized platform.
