Seems like a coincidence but I dont feel so.

Bitsler started by Baryom when Primedice by Stunna/Eddie was reaching its peak operations. Everyone on PD trollbox used to rope in their buddies into Bitsler and talking about the other casino on another ones trollbox was not permitted.

Eventually though bitsler remained on the backfoot while primedice culminated its peak by forming its sister site called Stake owned by the same parent company and bitsler's popularity when backstage.

Its sad to see them shutting down but its a stark reminder that the biggest ones will survive in the long run.

Sad to see these established sites go down, but good that Bitsler at least gave people time to pull their funds. Hope the Duelbits hackers are tracked down soon.

On chain transactions are difficult to track. The fact that the casino experience this one time and till date no traces of the $4m is found anywhere, they ar going to spend this same amount of money and people that stole this one will launder money without any traces. The question Duelbit need to be asking is how did this happen in the first place, you can't beat me twice and not shame me, it's will look like I'm not smart, this is how I view Duelbits incident.

The casino is back online and I even see a post of someone hitting $7k some hours ago, that's a relief that the company is unshaken but they need to find a way to make sure it never repeat itself again. If casino continues to get loss, it will be difficult to have trust in the company not to mention that the team might have to work for a year and every income made will be loss to scammers.

I agree sad to see big names shutdown and others getting hacked but that is the harsh reality of digital infrastructure nowadays, if you have not build a good enough cyber resilience chances to get hacked are there. Hopefully this serves as a lesson to Duelbit to take cyber security much more seriously and I am sure they will do from now on.

That's how tough the competition is now, especially for the new ones. If even the old casinos are being forced to close because of competition, then there is a good chance the newer ones will struggle even more.

With so many online casinos now, the biggest ones will probably dominate the market because reputation matters a lot, especially for players who are risking big money.

I think this is the first old casino I have seen here that really had to stop.

1. Duelbits
Duelbits hacked, total losses $7 million

Damn, Bitsler closing down is wild—they've been around since 2015. At least they're giving players time to cash out instead of pulling a typical exit scam.
As for Duelbits, losing $7M to a hot wallet key compromise in 2026 is just embarrassing. Terrible OpSec for a site doing that kind of volume.

I’m curious to know why they want to shut down, are they not making money anymore or are the owners having some issues that they decided to close down or have they started another casino?
I’m just confused because how will a casino that has been around for a very long time and people have already trusted and started using them decide to close down. It is surprising to me.

Is it that they don’t have the finance to continue running the casino anymore? Maybe this could be the reason why they want to close it down.

Thankfully, a 7 million hit was not enough to take down Duelbits and they will continue to offer their services to their gamblers.
Of course such amount can’t bring such a big casino down because imagine someone wining such amount already if they allow high stakes gambling and I believe they definitely do, so in terms of closing down 7 million dollars won’t make a significant difference of seven people winning 1 million dollar each.

Well, I am not an active user of Duelbits, so I am not sure how much of high-stakes gambling they have on their casino, but because of the side of their platform of the website and the amount of gamblers they also have, I assume that even if most of their gamblers were rather small, they could still recover that money out of small bets and wager anyways.
In the end, the important thing for casinos is the total volume of bets and gambling wager per unit of time, regardless of the size of the pocket of their gamblers individually.

Honestly, there are just a handful of casinos which could have taken his hit and continue to operate as if nothing happened.

I don't think it is about survival as Bitsler was good enough to survive for years to come based on their budget. One thing that we need to always remember is that cybersecurity is never really a finished job. Just because someone invested heavily in the security of their business or platform doesn’t automatically imply that new vulnerabilities wouldn’t show up afterwards or that the platform would be automatically shielded from these subsequent vulnerabilities or attack methods. So it’s up to Duelbits to decide whether security becomes something that’s an ongoing priority or maybe just something they only remember to improve right after an incident or a breach.

I totally agree with that too, most especially in terms of the banking industry. I am just very curious to know how Duelbits deals with the situation internally after the attack. Fixing and trying to improve the technology is important, but also it's important to look at what actually enabled the attack.

If they can see where things actually went wrong and take steps to ensure they don't repeat the same mistake again that would be a good step forward. In a positive sense, this incident will hopefully encourage them to go to even greater lengths in the future with regard to security.

Hard to say without an official explanation, a long track record doesn't always mean the business still makes sense for the people running it.

If there’s one thing that’s always constant, it is change. Changes can happen at anytime, including in the cybersecurity sector. What is believed to be the best or like you put it, being resilient even for 0 days vulnerability today, could actually change tomorrow. Technologies advance everyday both the ones we know of and those we are yet to be aware of, so we can’t confidently say that any security system is 100% secure with 0 vulnerabilities, but we can’t confidently say at least agree there are those that are top notch, and that’s why it’s crucial to constantly review, revisit and update (if necessary) a platform’s security features.

Whenever such attacks happens, is probably linked to some part of the development that went expired unnoticed to the dev team, just assuming though, but the most critical case at such will leave the site inoperative for sometimes, like examples with bitget withdrawal that have been halt since their were also attacked on that same day, despite fund movement from the effected wallet getting stopped, there is some critical aspects that need fix before everything return back to normal, so the withdrawal remains paused.

Duelbits own case is different as their went offline for mettanance for a couple of hours, and came back live again and everything is working perfectly with the casino now, it shows that the aspect of the exploitation have been handled and activities resumes back on the site.

I agree with you, no security system can be 100% secured, as the day goes by technology is increasing, and people are also developing or increasing in Wisdom and those security that you feel that nobody can breached can actually be breached because of high technology and high Wisdom that has increased overtime. It is totally impossible to say that your security system is 100% even the United States they can breach their security system and they have done that before in the past.

For a company or anyone to be safe, you need to always try as much as possible to update yourself when it comes to security aspect.

It's going to be a cat and mouse game for services against the hackers. If I'm not mistaken, this could be the first time that Duelbits has been hacked. So it means that their security features are good.

However, those criminals might have been studying them for a while and looking for the perfect loophole to get in and hacked their wallets. So it means there could be some missing links that they need to patch as they go along serving their customers and we can only hope that this is the last time that they are going to be hack.

2. Bitsler
Bitsler ceased operations, users were told to withdraw any remaining funds by September 30th, and closed permanently on October 1st.

They have also closed ANN
I’m curious to know why they want to shut down, are they not making money anymore or are the owners having some issues that they decided to close down or have they started another casino?
I’m just confused because how will a casino that has been around for a very long time and people have already trusted and started using them decide to close down. It is surprising to me.

Is it that they don’t have the finance to continue running the casino anymore? Maybe this could be the reason why they want to close it down.
There may be various reasons for the closure, such as many casinos are profitable but the profit is not enough according to their expenses. If it does not improve gradually at that time, then of course that casino may close despite being profitable. However, it cannot be said for sure that this will be the case with Bitsler. I think that either their profit has decreased or it is being closed due to regulations. If there was a hack, it would definitely have been revealed. Moreover, competition in the market has increased in the present time. Bitsler's market strategy may not have progressed in such a way that they are forced to close, it may also be that the owner is trying a different business. Since the issue of shutdown has come up, there will definitely be various speculative discussions, but here the reasons like the owner's lack of money or loss in business will be a logical assumption.

Wow. Duelbits lost quite a lot of money... I hope they can get it back.

This raises the question of how the hackers plan to move or swap their ETH? All their movements will be tracked carefully... Ethereum as PoS now has been way more centralized than when it was PoW in the past but the money still cannot be frozen/confiscated...

I don't see changes as bad, that is, for me, not just bad.
Of course it always depends on how you adapt, i don't know if you get what i mean.
If you are a person or a company or a casino that adapts easily and flexibly, it is no problem for you.

If you are an entity that prefers to live on income then no.

I don't think it is about survival as Bitsler was good enough to survive for years to come based on their budget. I think the owner/s got not any satisfaction anymore and most probably shifted their focus elsewhere.

I think it's still due to survival because the official announcement in their Ann thread doesn't seem like a mere lost of interest in the business or something else, it was purely due to survival.

Over the past few years, Bitsler hasn’t been doing as well as it used to, and we’ve made the decision to cease operations....
But today it’s clear that the market and its environment have changed (AI, security risks etc. ) in such a way that we’re no longer attractive enough. Since we don’t want to compromise our values, the only option left was to close.

They may have the budget to keep running the business but that's not the point here. They're not closing because they can't afford to pay, they're shutting down because the costs of remaining competitive in this industry outweighs the return. The industry has shifted to a point where you need to spend huge to keep things working in order to remain relevant among your pairs. There's no point in spending huge amounts to stay relevant if you're not longer attractive. I guess their return, the volume, and the players at their platform has significantly reduced. If that's the case, then it's survival.

It’s very sad I hope everyone gets their money back somehow and that Duelbits comes back stronger. I’m sure they’ll handle this situation well.
No customer lost anything through the Duelbits hack. They are also up and running again, their hot wallet has been topped up and players can now deposit, play and withdraw smoothly on the website. They have also announced that they are launching Duelbits 2.0 soon, i know it is sad they just lost a lot of money a couple of days ago, but i am glad they are back and it looks like interesting times ahead for them.
