Tracking through Bitcoin is possible but it is not as easy as people think. Tracking will only be possible when the user somehow connects with a fiat transaction or with a kyc verified exchange. Sometimes if you make a transaction on some platforms and that platform tracks the IP then they can also get the identity.

Those who can use crypto anonymously cannot be tracked by anyone. For example crypto scams are common nowadays but most of the time governments cannot track them because they know ways to hide them.

If you have done KYC any where online relating to centralised exchange, your wallet transactions can be tracked or traced to you via the exchange you operate with so do not think your identity can be swept under the carpet. Although online ledger does not show your identity but have it in mind that as long as you have had KYC done with n exchange, the transaction can be traced to you irrespective of whatever you do to cover it up. Except for those who do the offline p2p Nd have no KYC records with my exchange or whatsoever.
If you are doing offline p2p, do not accept transfer but rather cash at hand and only then would your identity be covered but it is very risky because you don't know who you are dealing with and if the might attack you on the cause of you having a deal with them.

Someone has answered you very well. But I just want to throw more light to that. Bitcoin address is visible. Everyone can see it. You can trace transactions as the Blockchain is accessible to everyone. What can't be done is trace the address to the owner. That's partially impossible. The question is how or why? Now it all depends on the information about the person that is online or data leak also. That's just the important cases of them linking an address to it's original owner.

Transactions on Bitcoin can not be trace if they are link to a non custodial wallet. When a wallet is link to a centralized exchange, that wallet can be trace to the source because there is kyc involved on the wallet. What newbies need to learn is to avoid kyc if they don't want to be traced back to their wallet. However, even if you use a custodial wallet, Bitcoin isn't anonymous, everything you do on your address is going to be visible to the public.

People need to learn about privacy as well, you can do all of these and still link your wallet to some place with your information and they will know everything about you as person that controls that address.
