BTC as collateral for borrowing without selling. That’s the use case that actually changes behavior for holders. Lightning payments are next, but most “BTC DeFi/staking” right now is still wrapped, bridged, or federated with extra trust assumptions. Not really native yet.
I don’t like that idea behind borrowing over Bitcoin using it as collateral. I’m a fan of DeFi, but not when it’s being tried to be injected into the protocol. Lightning Network is a welcome development that solves the transaction congestion problem for those who know how to use it. Aside from that, other things you mentioned, I prefer holding Bitcoin and allowing the profit to be made over the value increase and not from staking rewards, where users indirectly give away their custody for small rewards.
