Do you lose everything after a winning streak period?

Actually, this thread is about personal experience and also the experience of some few persons that I know off forum. During the world Cup period, I experienced some good wins and even after then I still luckily won most of my bets in other leagues but my lose between last month and this month is far above the wins I had in the previous months, so I would say I experienced more winning streaks then while last month and this month was just a losing streak period that has taken away all my previous wins and more than that.

Someone might say it's lack of good bankroll management but it's not, I don't chase losses and I only bet on games that I feel has a good probability to be successful, matter of fact, I didn't even bet in all games in the world Cup but majority of my bets was successful because of how selective I was in choosing only match that I am sure of.

Finding a way to deal with a losing streak in gambling is like a mystery. I also experienced a similar problem in the last World Cup. In the group stage, it was quite easy for me to get wins. But after entering the knockout stage, since there weren't many matches to choose from, there was a tendency to place bets randomly. I'm not sure about all of that either, but it seems that's just how it is. 
If the situation gets bad enough, I would just stop betting for a while. Continuously losing is also not good for your emotions.

In reality tournament like World Cup consist of limited number of match. Just 64 match.
You were selective there. That’s why you've secured some good win.
But the problem is, 64 match is an extremely small sample size.
And with small sample size if luck is on our side, it feels as though we are conducting highly precise analysis.

Anyway, once you started betting regularly on league. Such as Premier League, La Liga or Champions League. That was when the real statistical variance started to show its true color.

Good question because I think that is a very common outcome and the source of it is greed. A certain number is not enough and people also find an excuse to wager a little bit more, since there is a hot streak, right? Only problem is, every hot streak comes to an end and the losing streak starts.
I had this happen to me as well in the past. You can't lose for let's say 4 days, build up a big bankroll. Then all it takes is a losing streak, your mind goes crazy and the work of 4 days is gone in 40 minutes, all because you raise the wager into oblivion.
That's why it's so important to haver a sharp mind and even shraper bankroll management. Without that every win ends up in an even bigger loss sooner or later.

Yes, I had actually happened to me. I don't lose completely every single dollar I was able to get thanks to the previous good luck streak, I am rather left when a handful of dollars, which only represented a small percentage of what I could have withdrawn thanks to my good luck streak.
I think it is something natural, good luck will always eventually run out and people are left with their own choices, which are not always the correct ones.

That is why professional bettors are so rare, because they represent a very small percentage of the betting population which do not lose their streak in the long term and their profitability is consistent.

This can still happen to gamblers who are still selective and still manages their bankroll effectively. What a winning streak really does is to make a person’s judgment of probability to feel more accurate than it really is, while a losing streak can on the other hand remind a person that no matter how informed your decisions are or how solid your strategy is, that they can still fail repeatedly. So I believe the most important part is stopping yourself from chasing wins, and just accept that every win comes not because of how solid the strategy is but because of how luck the gambler is.

Although it happens with some gamblers because they are greedy that they can win more, so they also lose their winnings. This is the order that every bet or game in which you want to invest money. In my opinion, you should get out of it no matter how much time you have played and won it because it does not give us any profit or loss. Although I do not get into such a cycle because I know that my luck is quite bad in this matter, so I neither win nor lose because I do not play such games in which money is lost or won. I feel that a sense of confidence has developed in your subconscious mind following that World Cup winning strike.

You might be thinking that you understand game well and can pick sure fire matches.
You say that you don't chase loss and only place bet on sure match.
tbh, there is no such thing as Sure Match in sports betting.

Bookmakers set odds by analyzing hundred times more data than we do. When you perceive any match as having 60 to 70% winning probability, placing bet at that price might not have been reasonable. Consequently this habit of selectively placing bet has trapped you in a sort of illusion of skill regarding your own ability.

The question you should be asking is where did you get it wrong?  if while the world cup was going on you played on few selected games that gave you a level of win and now you are playing and experiencing looses, the first and primary thing to look out for is that the league games is completely different from world cup games. factors that influence the outcome of the world cup is not what leads to the outcome of league games so you have to check these out and be sue that you are doing the right thing.

What you experienced OP happened to me several times already. After a winning streak, I continued my games which resulted into a snowball effect that ultimately led me to a losing streak.

The problem with gambling is that the more you win, the more confidence you gain on your games. The more confidence that you have, the more likely that you would gamble more in the process. The more you gamble, the more chances that you would experience a losing streak due to the presence of house edge or provably fair that give casinos a slight advantage purely on statistics.

That's the problem- those winning streaks give you that false sense of hope that make you think it would continue. However in reality, it will only give you that confidence to gamble more and LOSE everything in the event you go all-in due to the confidence that has built over all your winning streak games.

I think this experience is not only peculiar to you alone, there are other gamblers whom I know have had this kind of experience too, but in most cases this happens when you are not recording significant wins. For instance when someone wins a bet like 2-3 times in a whole season, and is not a significant amount, and at the same time he gambled for that whole season, the gambler has already lost everything he won. To me, the only solution to this is to maintain good bankroll, so that it will not have a negative impact on you. A gambler is mostly worried when he gambled with good money, and he is not making a win, but when you gamble with the consciousness that you might win or loose, you won't think much even when you loose money. There are situations where one can gamble throughout a whole season without even recording a win, yet the person continue gambling in the next season without taking a decision to quit, and that is because he gambled with spare money, and not money meant for something more meaningful.

As a gambler you don't expect that you'll win forever, you were lucky to have won in row during the world cup, it might be because of how selective you were as you highlighted, and it might not, to my understanding, luck and strategy is what worked for you and it's unlikely for you to expect winning all the time.
When you're on a winning streak, don't get carried away to forget that you can lose at anytime too, however, there is a kind of excitement that comes with winning, and it takes a gambler with good self control to put this situation to rest, with your explanations, I think you were just unlucky, there's nothing much since you are selective with your games, what I can suggest to you, is for you to get some break, you don't chase loss as you said, but for you to come up with this thread, I read meaning to it, and I think you might likely be pained. Which is why you need to rest for the mean time.

Why do you think a fraction of sports bettors usually want to take a long break or quit entirely after a huge win?? I mean, there's no way I can tell how big yours were but I know it wasn't enough to keep you out of the game for too long.

Like you said, you lost everything in a period of 2 months--- there's really no accurate way(s) to stop that from happening, but you can get it under control CMIIW. The gambling platform gets to make their fair share of profit if you gamble for a long-term and the house edge mathematically proves that.

You claim you do not chase loss.
But all your previous profit plus your additional capital have vanished!

If all previous profit and even more are wiped out during one or two month losing streak then this is 100% failure of bankroll management.
If your flat betting process had been sound and if you never bet more than 1% or 2% of your bankroll you wouldn't end up completely wiped out.

It seems to me after your profit increased, your stake size must have gone up without you realizing it, something you overlooked in the excitement of winning.

So I believe the most important part is stopping yourself from chasing wins, and just accept that every win comes not because of how solid the strategy is but because of how luck the gambler is.

This is the very point I decide to pick out from your post because is like nailing it on the head. We can't always expect same positive results all the time, because there are still bad days ahead so accepting every result just the way they are is just the perfect way of staying safed in Gamble.

Hence, gamble is like a two sided coin, is either you're on the winning streak or losing streak, nothing is sure. So the best we can do as gamblers is to always use an amount we can afford to lose to avoid the stress of trying to find out how water got into coconut. Therefore, winning or losing will always comes bye from time to time, but the actual time is what we can't tell as players. Accepting loosing in gambling is a bit too difficult for gamblers because no one wants to loose as long as betting is concerned but we can't do away with loosing and most times we lost more than the amount we have even won in the last three months when loosing strikes which is very normal and bound to happen.

Loosing doesn't mean the individual is not betting responsibility nor having a good bankroll management, no one is an expert when it comes to predictions that leads to loosing so winning can't be guaranteed after series of games has been selected and played, it only takes luck to win because there is no sure strategy nor technical skills that gives winnings. From my observations in gambling I think there's a season for winning and also loosing, there are times you stake your bets and never wins while there are times that favors us, winning shouldn't give us that mentality that we won't experience loosing and we should gamble wisely to know when to quit if we experience so many looses.

I never risk everything, so I hope I never answer such a question in the affirmative. But yes, the World Cup was very successful for me, as was the start of the season, but the last three weeks before the international break turned into an absolute nightmare. A lot of the teams I trusted (Real Madrid, Liverpool, PSG, Chelsea) started playing much worse than expected, and I hit a losing streak. I hope a reset is taking place right now, and that everything will return to normal once the national championships resume.

Whenever I experience 3 or 4 consecutive loss or 15 to 20% drawdown in my bankroll then I stay completely away from betting for at least 1 or 2 week.

This eliminate my mental fatigue and subconscious urge to chase loss.

Actually experiencing such losing streak is quite normal in sports betting. But if you dismiss this simply as bad luck then you will face same outcome next time as well. Check your betting selection and stake size once again, mate.

Yes every gambler must have experienced this. And as a gambler, we don't think of those things and all what I normally think is to win the current bet and when I win it, then to withdraw it. So my later loses after my wins have nothing to do with me. Though everyone has their own way of doing or thinking.

If a gambler think of gambling from that angle, then he will be hurting himself so the best way is to leave behind what has happened and continue the new chapter of gambling.

When gambling, there will be wins and losses, we have to move forward with those wins and losses. You bet on sports and you may bet on those matches that have a chance of winning, but in reality, football is a game where even if you bet on the right prediction, sometimes the game gets disrupted due to the performance of the sport. Maybe this has happened to you too. But when you see that you are losing again and again, you can refrain from gambling and later participate again through good analysis.
