I don't think people will prioritize doing smart work over hard work or the vice versa when they are at a certain status of their lives. This is not about being poor nor being rich. If you know how to deal your task by adopting both, the future outcome will turn excellent.
Just know that hard work and smart work do not compete with each other. They go hand in hand to provide us the most profitable result. And if you are seeing yourself into a lots of hard work, that's because you know for yourself that that's the most smart thing to do for now.

That statement is basically for those who are doing well, I mean those that already have other source of income. Because even though they got sacked for not working hard they still have other alternative, a guy that literally have nothing should not look into this statement as it will cause them more harm than good because they don't have plan B. I used to tell those who capitalize on this statement to stop using such statement, because those who are not financially stable is supposed to work hard so as to enable them make a lot of money and start up something by themselves before looking into this statement.

We are all familiar with the phrase or statement "WORK SMART NOT HARD" but the fact is that this isn't going to work for eveyone. If you are someone that's trying to build wealth from ground zero or from scratch you need to work hard because you are building from nothing. A lot of wealthy people only talk about working smart because they are speaking from their point of view, the ones that built from the bottom worked hard and when they finally got to that point where they want to be they sustain it by working smart. A lot of people are not making progress because they are applying smart work when they are supposed to be working hard. what's your opinion on this?
As the saying goes, work hard to build and then work smart to multiply. It means you have to build yourself first if you are not built already, if you are poor, have no skill, no foundation, no business, nothing. Then build yourself, put yourself into the kiln and become something strong, and once you have something, then use it smartly to multiply your returns. That's the only way you can learn when to put in effort and when not to. People spend too much time on this, but I don't think about it much. I first realize what's my task, how much time I got, and how many helpers and errors I can make. So after analyzing it, I start with either smart work or hard work, but if the purpose is to make good of your life, then start smart always, don't be a hard worker.

I guess my question is, “why would you ask, if you already knew the answer to your question “? That being, smart work isn’t for everyone. Not everyone is smart, everyone can’t work smart and there is every field of work or labour that would be waiting for employees to fill in, it’s the labour market and these hard jobs still pay. Best to do your most where you find yourself and make it work.

What is hard work, and what is smart work? Aren't they the same thing? If you are working smart, does it mean you're not working hard? Do you think people who work manual jobs don't need to work smart? Or do you think a person who works on a construction site, or in the kitchen of a restaurant, doesn't need to work smart? Do you guys think only people who work in corporate organisations need to work smart? Someone building wealth from the ground doesn't need to work smart? I mean, this is all funny to e honest and to see that a lot of people on the thread agree with this is even funnier. Now you're making it seem like people who have made wealth don't work hard to maintain theire wealth. You need to work hard and smart to achieve anything. At any level, you need to be smart and also work hard.

Those richest men, do you think they are not hardworking people? If you can know what they are doing throughout the day in one week, you will see how they are also working hard.
There will be some rich people that do not sleep fast just because they want everything to be in good sharp for their businesses not to turn into something they will not like.
I understand your point because those that work most are not rich or not rich up to wealthy people, intelligence is very important if you want to make money, but hardwork is a necessity if you want to make it in life.
The quote above gives a profound answer to your question, it is falsehood to think that the wealthy people aren't working hard, listen to their interviews many of them have sleepless night working relentlessly hard they work as or even harder than they unwind. The clear reasoning is that you need to work smart and hard at every stage of life, working smart is not so easy. Elon has said plenty of times he works 80-100 hours/week, and some stretches even hit 120. That's like 12-16 hours a day, every day. https://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-says-80-hours-per-week-needed-change-the-world-2018-11Jack Ma is famous for pushing the 996 schedule, 9am-9pm, 6 day/week. https://apac.entrepreneur.com/news-and-trends/whats-wrong-with-jack-ma-calling-996-a-huge-blessing/332234Tim Cook has also said he gets up at 4 AM to check emails and is working pretty much all day. https://www.entrepreneur.com/business-news/apple-ceo-tim-cooks-routine-emails-meetings-energy-bars/463506Most wealthy people work their asses off, and some barely have any time left for themselves or their families. Yet somehow, it's kinda funny that people like us who are still figuring out how to get rich always look down on hard work. LOL. Hard work doesn't guarantee wealth, but you isn't getting rich without it.

We are all familiar with the phrase or statement "WORK SMART NOT HARD" but the fact is that this isn't going to work for eveyone.
In reality, "working smart" is not such a simple task, and more often than not, it must be combined with "working hard". For instance, starting a business requires considerable mental effort to take into account all the relevant factors (such as current demand for goods or services, competition, optimization, and so on) and to make that business successful. If you are someone that's trying to build wealth from ground zero or from scratch you need to work hard because you are building from nothing.
Actually, the saying implies working with one’s mind rather than physically; as I mentioned earlier, even "working smart" requires overcoming challenges (exerting effort) though the effort is intellectual rather than physical. If you are starting from scratch, you don’t necessarily have to begin as a manual laborer; you could, for instance, become a trader or reseller (buying goods cheaply in one place and selling them for a higher price elsewhere). While this doesn't require "working hard" in the conventional, physical sense, it does require using your brain ("working smart") to turn a profit. Furthermore, "working smart" often entails leveraging the labor of others so that they "work hard", while you simply manage the processes, overseeing and maintaining the system (business) you have built. A lot of wealthy people only talk about working smart because they are speaking from their point of view, the ones that built from the bottom worked hard and when they finally got to that point where they want to be they sustain it by working smart.
This can be described as optimizing your workflow - adopting time management practices and rationally allocating both time and effort when handling various (business) tasks. A lot of people are not making progress because they are applying smart work when they are supposed to be working hard. what's your opinion on this?
Not everyone manages to work smartly (it is not a gift everyone possesses), so the majority are forced to choose the "work hard" path, which most often manifests as the endless repetition of routine, monotonous, and mindless tasks. "Working smart" requires a certain creative "spark" that enables one to find new and different ways to overcome obstacles and achieve goals.

If you say the statement is basically for those who are doing well, have you also thought of why those who are working hard are still struggling to make it despite their hard work. The difference between most successful people and those who are struggling while working hard could just be a little touch of smartness. I think the both of them can go hand in hand such that even when you’re working hard you also need to be smart enough to know that you’re not just putting the hard work in vain.

I think you misunderstood the phrase cause "Work smart" doesn't really depend on whether you're starting from scratch or from a wealthy place, to me it just means whenever you are given the choice to work, you can always try to find the smart way to go about executing that work, not necessarily over working your self because you want to maybe proof something to someone. A smart worker can always be a hard worker because the job gets done at a better rate, regardless of if it was faster or not or probably easy for the individual because intelligence was applied when executing. Having money doesn't automatically makes you a smart worker btw, I have seen alot of wealthy people that lack common sense but to them they are still getting the job done regardless and to be fair at the end of the day, that's what really matters, the work is done.

In my opinion, work smart is greater than work hard, because anyone who works hard without inspiration will not give you any result, but if you want to build your self or own your own or you come from a poor family, you have to work hard, especially if you come from a poor family whereby you are the head of the family seriously, you have to be a hardworking person to make the family proud because youngers one eye will be with you that is there helders "Work smart" doesn't really depend on whether you're starting from scratch or from a wealthy place.
in my opinion, it simply means that whenever you have the opportunity to work, you should always try to find the best way to carry out that work, without necessarily overworking yourself because you want to prove something to someone. Regardless of whether the task was completed more quickly or more easily for the individual due to the application of intelligence, a smart worker can always be a hard worker.

Work hard, work smart is a tool to get elevated to be successful in whatever you desire in life. The most important thing is to know when to use either of them. Rich people work hard and understand when to work smart; this is when they hire people to do the job, but in the end, they earn the praises. In life, you must work hard to achieve certain goals and also understand when to work smart. If one is able to use both work hard and work smart, there will definitely be good results. Don't think one is better than the other; you need both for the success of your goals.

First of all, not everyone is going to succeed from doing the same thing, smart work has a lot to do with intelligence and you know not everyone posseses that. An example of this is telling people that have no idea about cryptocurrency to start buying bitcoin, this is considered as a smart work but for most people it is harder than rocket science. Hard work is important but the only misconception about it is that it guarantees making profit which is actually false.
You know what successful people don't even do. They tell you about the things they do but they will never tell you how they did it. The truth is, any person that has successfully made it will not tell you about the struggles and the way they make the business successful or the work they do to be successfull. The thing you will just keep hearing is work smart, do that and make money, don't be surprise that there are some place that you need to work hard too. All work requires hard work, it's over time that you become better and then find an hedge to work smart. You can't start a work you don't have any experience and want to work smart. You will be doing the work and probably might not be productive. It's when you know how to do some work efficiently that you can work smart. For example, if you are doing a job with bare hands for 5 hours a day and you master it very well, you can work smart with same job for 2 hours if it can be done with some tools.

Yep, you need both if you really want to achieve your goals or succeed in life. Many people do not get this and believe you can either work hard or work smart, as though one can substitute for the other. You can work your ass off, but if you are headed in the wrong direction, you're just spinning your wheels. Conversely, you can have a great strategy, but if you don't put in the work to turn it into result, that strategy isn't worth much either. One of them keeps you going in the right direction, while the other one gets you where you actually wanna be. Both are equally important.

let's have it this way, if you must end up working smart, you've to put in the hard work first and work your way up to specialization, of which you can then use relevant tools and helpers to work smart. People often interpret working smart as being lazy or finding shortcuts to success, but it is false, you can only successfully work smartly in any given career path when you are already conversant with the rudiments of that career, then you find tools or resources that boosts efficiency. For example in the current AI trend, people who doesn't want to work hard have depended totally on AI to the extent they're now walking morons, and those guys are always easy to spot when it comes to tasks that requires critical thinking and logical problem solving. You cannot jump the process, if you have a weak foundation, your smart structure cannot persist for long. Most people who work smartly is a testimony of the years of hard work they put in behind the scenes.

Putting in work is very important in every career path we choose because even the smart work is not as easy as some people mistakes it to be. Many billionaires we know have their various stories during the growth days, when they had to keep wake to think about the success of the business. It is not even easy to work smart when you can not work hard because most smart connections made that help in business growth are made during the period of hard work. Smart work" is misleading when you have not understood the basics which is building with hard work and expanding with smart work. Excessive dependence on AI is the reason for the increasing half-baked professionals who have refused to concentrate on hardwork to learn.

Everything starts from working hard and we all know about that. One who's working smart these days have their humble beginnings and they also value hard work. But as they work, they have figured out that working smart can be done in what they do. A lot of wealthy people only talk about working smart because they are speaking from their point of view, the ones that built from the bottom worked hard and when they finally got to that point where they want to be they sustain it by working smart. Well, that is true and it's easy for them to say that because they are in a better position compared to the most people. I think those who are starting out shouldn't be pressured by that because they have been on a different level while the starters have to start from the bottom.

I believe that everyone has the ability to solve problems to a certain point, while some people easily perform tasks without putting much effort, there are some who might put in much time and effort to achieve a result for same task. So whatever works for you is what you should focus on so far you'll achieve a result at the end.
For instance there are labourer who use their physical strength to carry loads that some people would be wondering how and why because they don't have the time and strength to put in such effort those labourers are putting but would rather use machines to make it easier and faster, that's just the difference. Both hard and smart work pays.

If you put hard work in the wrong place, then you will not get the desired results from it, and to determine the right place, you have to think smartly and find that right place through research. Again, if you only have a plan, but if you do not work hard, then you will never be able to convert your plan into reality. And that is why both hard work and smart work are equally necessary if you want to achieve good success. There will be different problems in a journey, you cannot achieve anything in parallel, different problems have to be faced and those problems cannot be solved only through hard work but by thinking smartly and taking effective steps. And that is why using both together will have the potential to get richer results in every work, and this reality should be understood very well everyone.

If someone wants to be successful, they have to work hard. Some people may do it smartly, so they get some extra benefits, it takes less time, and they get more output with less effort. But everyone has to work hard. Now let's say a person wants to create a website for their business. Now they can go to web developers for this or they can easily develop it themselves through AI, without having to get it done by someone else, without paying them money or wasting extra time. This is basically called smart work. You have to work hard, generate ideas, but how easily you can use it, depends on how smartly you can do the work. If someone does not give up, then with time they will succeed. In some cases, success comes quickly, in some cases, it takes a little more time, there is additional loss. Even then, after failing repeatedly, one day that relatively weak person also becomes successful. It can be in business or in a job. So everyone of us should do hard work, but it should be done smartly.

If you have experience and skills, you can accomplish many things with intelligence, and there are many who change their position with a lot of hard work. We can see that there are many middle-class people who work hard and try to manage their lives well, but they cannot improve their position properly. Basically, it is not enough to work hard only, but you have to move forward with your own intelligence, then only then can you expect something good in the future. Those who move forward from zero with their own intelligence and hard work get good results at one time, relying on only one can never reach the goal, but to reach the goal, skill, experience and intelligence are needed. There are many people who want to move forward with their own experience but they do not want to work, they can never reach their goal. If a person wants to reach the goal, he must move forward with his own intelligence and his own skills, then he has to work hard, only then will it be possible to achieve success in the future.
