Earning more money and being financially comfortable are two different situation in the present day global economy. that you are earning more than your previous salary doesn't always mean you're financially better off.
In reality, Someone can move from earning $500 to $1,000 a month and still feel like nothing really changed. the reason in most cases is that Rent also increases, food costs more, transportation gets more expensive, and suddenly that extra $500 doesn't feel like much anymore.
It begs the question, is increased income really a good measure of financial progress?
If your income keeps increasing but the things you need also keeps becoming more expensive, are you getting richer, or you're simply earning more money to maintain the same lifestyle?
This is a classic case of inflation, but this situation can be traced to the fact that the person earning the $500, moved probably to a new location after you started earning $1,000. If the person had stayed in the same location after receiving that $1,000 or even moving to a more remote place that can be more affordable, then it would have helped a situation like this. In answering your question, you are not getting richer because the amount you earn is being quenched by inflation, so you will have to look for a way to manage the situation, is either you cut down on unnecessary things that you don't need to buy, you stay in a location that is more affordable for you and your family, and you should probably look for an alternative source of income to support what you are earning.

It begs the question, is increased income really a good measure of financial progress?
Yes it is, but in the present today it could be more defined as increase in income depending on how significant your income is. With inflation increasing your income has to be very high to make a difference. With the how things are now one will have to get more than 2 jobs and more to make a difference between your past income and increase in income Many people suffer from the tendency to view themselves as more successful or deserving than others. This mindset is ultimately self defeating even if one does receive a reward the expectation that it can be earned with minimal effort is flawed as limited exertion does not guarantee a reward.Furthermore this attitude breeds resentment among those who are truly deserving as constantly asserting a claim to everything regardless of merit is entirely wrong. One is rewarded only for what one has genuinely earned otherwise merely believing oneself to be entitled inclines one toward putting in less effort and hard work.

It begs the question, is increased income really a good measure of financial progress?
No, for the fact your income increased is not a sign that you are financially progressive. When you earn more you tend to need more things because your previous salary didn't present you with such opportunity. Earning more simply means your responsibility will also increase since you now want to acquire all the things that you couldn't afford with your low income. If your income keeps increasing but the things you need also keeps becoming more expensive, are you getting richer, or you're simply earning more money to maintain the same lifestyle?
You are not maintaining same lifestyle because when your salary increases you seek for more quality stuffs. You will also want to make bigger plans, eat more healthy food and also wear expensive clothes so it's not the same lifestyle.

One can earn more than they used to earn today but can't still afford much more than they could before and if you're not careful, you'll likely start improving your lifestyle instead of maintaining what you had already. Getting higher income doesn't mean that one is getting richer, if you really want to examine your progress, check if your savings is increasing alongside your earnings. We all pray and work for increased income but if the value of what our income can afford is also rising, it means we're not making much progress.

Real financial progress is about how much money you have left over at the end of the month to invest, so it can actually multiply your net worth over time. Simply earning more doesn't mean much if you upgrade your lifestyle right alongside it. Financial literacy is really hard to stick to in real life because consumer temptations are pretty strong, haha. After all, when you make more, your immediate instinct is to spend that cash on pointless stuff.

Many of the economy in the world today are tough, and in this kind of situation working hard to maintain the same lifestyle you have have when the economy was okay seems to be meaningless, I feel one should be flexible, and try to adjust to the changing economy more especially as you are still struggling to meet up with some of your responsibilities. Things have really changed, and the cost of living is very high, in some countries, the cost of living now is like 5x high than it used to be , and surposing you were managing to take care of your responsibilities when the economy was okay, not it is 5x high even if your salary is doubled survival becomes very difficult. So to be on the safer side, lifestyle has to change otherwise you put yourself in more economic hardship.

Are We Working Harder Just to Maintain the Same Lifestyle? With the state of the global economies currently I would say yes in general a lot of people are working harder because essentially the purchasing power of everyones money has been reduced, and there is a good chance salaries have not increased in line with inflation. The cost of fuel and the incoming shortages are going to really exacerbate the difficulties a lot of people are feeling in terms of trying to keep up with their lifestyles. Next question is are people willing to make sacrifices in order to preserve some money rather than keeping up a particular lifestyle...they will probably be forced to though.

It is a good measure that you are progressing with your career but that can't speak of your financial progress. What if you spend almost every pay day all of your salary and none goes to the funding of investments? then that means that you still have no progress financially although the salary increase is there but what's more important is the money that's left after all the expenses. You earn more money to sustain the lifestyle but your pockets are not filled and they remain empty. So, someone who earns more should start to learn to invest and make their money work for its own at the same time you work in your jobs. Financial freedom is only reached when you are financially knowledgeable and it's not only about the amount you earn but you keep.

With the constant inflation experienced in today's life it looks as if the hardwork of people has no impact in their financial lifes. To any extent I will say yes because on daily basis the prices of commodities keeps increasing without any hope of coming down to balance once financial strength and the only available option is to accept our faith and live in accordance to what we see in the society today. On this the only solution is cutting down unnecessary expense and live according to what life offers and not depend on hardwork as it can never propell one to a financial stable state.

Increased income can create an opportunity for financial progress, but it is not the measure of it. Financial progress without any form of financial intelligence will still lead you nowhere financially; you will still just spend as much money as you earn and be as broke as you've always been. This is why more money does not make you rich, but financial intelligence makes you rich. As you strive to increase your income, also try to acquire the adequate financial knowledge to be able to manage it because increase requires capacity.

Based on the current economic lifestyle, it is generally normal to try to increase sources of income. However, considering everything, it is creating more situations to be financially comfortable. But at the rate at which the prices of goods, fuel, electricity bills, and everything used daily are increasing. Based on that context, sources of income are hardly increasing. Although my earnings have increased financially at present, the amount of expenses has also increased at a higher rate. In particular, I have paid double the electricity bill today compared to the previous month. I believe that the cause of this economic disaster is excessive inflation.

In fact, there was a time when we lived a respectable life mentally and socially with comparatively less effort than we do today, but now both income and effort have increased, but due to the decrease in purchasing power, we are not able to enjoy its benefits. There has been a lot of competition in every sector of jobs or business, due to which the amount of money that can be saved is not increasing and even though our salaries have increased on paper, the real economic situation is not improving. So, I think that only income growth or savings growth is not a measure of economic progress.

To be honest with you alot of youths are in the situation especially in my country where the economy isnt stable enough for you to even adjust to two jobs for survival, like alot of people are just maintaining their lives, basically anything to survive. You can be making a consistent figure from January till now but the price of fuel, the price of local food stuff even common transportation, i can bet you the price has been sahking from month to month, so yea alot of people are working just to be able to survive and thats very bad becuase years later when you retire, there is will be no saved up money becuase you have been surviving since with your savings
