Congrats for discovering inflation!

Real progress is measured in what your money buys, not the number on your paycheck. If $1000 today buys what $500 bought three years ago, you didn't get a "raise", you got a participation trophy from your central bank.

Most people get a raise and immediately "upgrade" their rent, phone and takeout habits, then wonder why they're still broke at a higher resolution. Lifestyle creep is real.

People are just looking to live comfortably. They want quick results. Even if that means struggling with long-term debt. As it's said in the real world, we must "live in the moment". The majority often chooses to live a luxury lifestyle to enjoy life at its fullest. Only a small few actually sacrifices lifestyle pleasure/enjoyment for economic growth. Inflation is inevitable. But we must find ways on reduce its impact on our wealth as much as possible. If you play your cards right, you will be able to become financially independent in the future. It's all a matter of patience and due diligence. Work smarter, not harder. Can't we just learn from the rich people?

This is the reality here in my country. Or it's probably even worse because while there are increases, salaries still can't catch up with the rising prices of goods and services.

The prices of goods and services, the weakening of the purchasing power of money, is much faster than salary growth. So, it's possible many are getting poorer despite having bigger salaries.

Your financial well-being isn't measured by how much you receive; it's measured by your specific needs and whether your salary can fully support it. Meaning, it's not how much you receive but how much it can buy you.

The percentage of increase in inflation is very high as compared to the percentage of increase in salaries of an average class in a every society. Specifically I am talking about third world countries and developing countries and due to this reason the purchasing power has gone down.
Despite increase in salaries the lifestyles remain more or less same throughout years.

If you cut your purchases than you might save some money but still that will not change your lifestyle. To overcome this issue, you should think of having more than one income options so that you can meet your expenses easily and save some.

Actually, this is what’s called inflation. It's when our income goes up but it doesn’t really reflect any real financial progress for us. All of it is because of inflation eating away at our money, so even if our salary goes from $500 to $1,000, it doesn’t change anything when the rent, food and transportation costs go up. In other words it’s really just enough to maintain the same standard of living not to improve it.

So that's why when salaries go up what actually happens isn't an increase in wealth, but just an adjustment to higher living costs. So, to really feel the impact of a raise we need to focus on managing expenses, long term investments and continuously improving our skills which is much more effective than just chasing a salary number that's constantly being eaten away by inflation.

In reality, Someone can move from earning $500 to $1,000 a month and still feel like nothing really changed. the reason in most cases is that Rent also increases, food costs more, transportation gets more expensive, and suddenly that extra $500 doesn't feel like much anymore.

I disagree with you that it's because of the high cost of living that makes it looks as if salary increase doesn't change anything. Humans are just insatiable, that's where the problem is. People always say, if a start earning so so amount of money i will become comfortable but what happens when they start earning their desired amount? Their taste increases, they become extravagant and forget that they are just coming out of a lower salary where they still managed with it. Why can't they at least wait for some time and save some money from the extra that has added before they start to increase their standard of living. Everything that is going wrong in the world is being originated by humans so they are true cause of their problems in reality.

It begs the question, is increased income really a good measure of financial progress?

If your income keeps increasing but the things you need also keeps becoming more expensive, are you getting richer, or you're simply earning more money to maintain the same lifestyle?
The rate of inflation is the cause of everything; what you buy at $50 last year can cause $100 this year, and your pay increase may not to be up to half of what you earn before, so how can you afford all you have been affording with your existing salaries? It is usually difficult to survive in these type of situation, and inflation is the cause while some government are not doing anything to tackle it for their citizens and that can lead the citizens to committing so many crimes which include theft and so on.

Sometimes, some people may earn more than what they have been earning, but instead of them to have plan for themselves to make good use of their income towards having long term investment, they will start to change their lifestyles that will be taking more money from them which is not good for the future. If you plan to progress in life, increase in your income can make you progress in future.

Your opinions on this is completely correct to an extent because many always create problems for themselves all in the name of upgrading  but inflation must also be considered a major criteria responsible. Excluding constant inflation the cost of commodities would still be low and even with quest for luxury increased salaries would still be enough to balance the situation.
At times we draw conclusion based on our own personal opinions and experience without knowing the best way to find answers is by looking at the situations of others, maybe theirs may be from a painful experience that may give all needed. On this it will be more encouraging in inflation is considered as a case study because with a balanced economy increased salaries will be enough to provide answers to all questions.

Earning more money and being financially comfortable are two different situation in the present day global economy. that you are earning more than your previous salary doesn't always mean you're financially better off.

In reality, Someone can move from earning $500 to $1,000 a month and still feel like nothing really changed. the reason in most cases is that Rent also increases, food costs more, transportation gets more expensive, and suddenly that extra $500 doesn't feel like much anymore.

If your income keeps increasing but the things you need also keeps becoming more expensive, are you getting richer, or you're simply earning more money to maintain the same lifestyle?
To maintain a certain lifestyle depend on the type of lifestyle and the person income. If you are someone who spends extravagantly, then you need to have a higher and sustainable income to maintain such lifestyle.  You can not maintain your extravagant lifestyle when your income isn't increasing. Inflation is bitting harder, costs of things and services are going higher, the costs of your lifestyle in the previous year may not be the same this year. If your earnings or salary isn't increasing, then you need to lower your expenses, otherwise there's a possibility that you might start looking for who to borrow money from to maintain your extravagant lifestyle which is bad for your finances.

Yeah, I think that’s the problem. Getting a higher salary doesn’t necessarily mean you’re better off if everything else gets more expensive too. Rent, food, bills… they can eat up most of the extra income pretty quickly. At some point it feels like you’re just working more to stay in the same place.

Even if the price of everything remains thesame, an individual who starts earning more will want to increase his standard of living. If he was eating less balanced meals before, he will try to improve on that area. His needs will increase, so also his lifestyle. The reason people strive to earn more is so they can improve their standards of living.

If after achieving an increase in his income, he still could not comfortably enjoy an improved standard of living and he could barely save some money too, then what he needs is multiple streams of income. Infact because of inflation,  everyone needs more than one source of income  .

What is the benefit of working harder when we aren't improving the way we've lived our lives over the years? Any effort that doesn't show a significant difference is just wasted effort.

We have to keep moving in life and keep changing for the better. The more we are interested in improving in any aspect, the more we do; the better the result should be for us. You should also learn to improve more to increase our delivery capacity because the economy is not stagnant in the same position for a long time without change.
Well that's the point not many people actually see their progress. Some often focus too much on what they haven't done compared to the ones they have, and while it's not bad still it keeps you in a psychological loop whereby you don't actually feel any signs of progress in your job even if there is.But the truth to the entire stuff in most cases is that as we make more money or as our income increases, our lifestyle gradually does too in the sense that you can go from buying cheap clothes to costly ones while you are busy tormenting yourself mentally. So that's just a perspective....

That said like what a friend said to me he said If you were a vampire and you lived for thousands of years and yet to achieve anything, then you are cursed. But since vampires do not exist and the human lifespan is 100 years or at most 150, why not make use of your time now?So yeah my point here is everyone is different in their own way when it comes to financial growth, and one of the major things that is important is to know when you have improved both financially, mentally, or physically so you can be able to find the loopholes and make amends. That's all. It's all about being aware.......

Infact because of inflation,  everyone needs more than one source of income  .

It’s not just because of inflation. It’s more about the uncertainty. We don’t know how long any given job will support us. We don’t even know how long we’ll be able to work at all, given how rapidly the world is changing. We don’t know what skills will be needed to stay ahead of the competition, not just against other professionals, but against constantly evolving technology. In that context, inflation becomes just one of our many problems.

Yes, this is a fact, for this reason we may often see the phenomenon of millions of people being trapped in harder work, this cannot be separated from the luxurious and increasing cost of living and also inflation, lifestyle settings are also greatly influenced by pressures. social.

For when we live in an era of technology like today and digital, to stabilize the economy in life it is necessary to take into account and consider living standards and stabilize consumption such as basic needs, without us having to force ourselves to work extra just to maintain the same lifestyle.

Likewise, ignoring social pressure, especially with the lifestyle of modern society like today, without having to work overtime to show constant activity in order to be considered more successful in the social environment.

An increase in income is a measure of financial progress if inflation is low and people save to invest. People who increase their income will become financially stable if the cost of living is still minimal and they keep their expenses low relative to their income.

In the case where money keeps losing value, an increase in income doesn't lead to financial stability. Those who increase their expenses because their income has increased will remain in the rat race. I know people who earn less than me, yet they have more assets. This is as a result of financial prudence.

One of the essences of working hard is to ensure a better life that will be different from the one we have been living; we should not relent for any reason in our pursuit of excellence, and we should work harder to make life a better place to live, which does not warrant us continuing with the way things used to be. Change is a constant thing we must expect, and we can only have it through our commitment to work hard.

I think the concept of “phantom inflation” comes into play right here. According to the data, inflation seems to be falling, but then it suddenly rears its head. A long time ago, I chose to adopt a more minimalist lifestyle. I made radical changes to my way of life. When I look back today, I think I made the right decision. Theoretically, there’s no other way to cope with this anyway. As the value of the money sitting in the bank increases, we’re actually getting poorer. Rising income isn’t a measure of financial progress, and there’s no way to compensate for this. In this situation, the best thing I can do is reevaluate my lifestyle and make more rational decisions in certain areas...

Under any circumstances, an increase in income has always been a blessing and a relief for us, but with the way things are going in our daily lives, everything has become more difficult. My income, at least, isn't enough to cover my basic needs because everything is tightly budgeted, and sometimes you have to sacrifice one thing to afford another, and then sacrifice something else.

All of this depends on the country we're in. Obviously, in a developed country where income is sufficient to cover everything, it's fine; but in places where you have to hold four or five jobs and still can't cover all your expenses, it's really tough.

It begs the question, is increased income really a good measure of financial progress?

If your income keeps increasing but the things you need also keeps becoming more expensive, are you getting richer, or you're simply earning more money to maintain the same lifestyle?

Our goal here is not continue living and maintaining our previous lifestyle but this time, we need to improve and start doing well. We should be able to know what we need and how far we can go in other to accomplish our goals. By the way, increase in income doesn't automatically give you the upper hand that financial progress will exits, instead it's the reverse outcome we're seeing. We're humans and we have absolutely nobody to care for us, we're the only ones that still got our own backs.

There's always room for us to make proper foundation and continue making decisive actions that will benefits one and his family. What's the need here of financial progress, we should mount more pressure on our purchasing power because it will always give birth to the grind mastermind which we'll get innovated by the space. Our financial growth should be seen and also measure by the ratio of high estimated income flows and how it goes our.

Depends on your growth since you could make more money, faster than inflation it doesn't seems like it but you could make more money after a few years faster than the inflation so you could maybe go from 200$ salary up to 1000$ in a few years so it might not be that bad. It is a good thing in my opinion because you are increasing your income anyway, even though it wasn't something that is going to be a measu of financial progress but I would say that it was a part of it.

You wouldn't get a 1000$ if you are only earning 200$, so having a huge increase of income is a huge thing, whatsoever even if you increase your lifestyle you are still earning 1000$ and that was sustaining you for a much better lifestyle, so it's still a progress, I mean at somepoint your gonna need to bump that lifestyle. The main thing here was to increase your financial savings, if you don't have financial foundation you don't really have anything, that is why we want to maintain our lifestyle and not increase it because it would cost more, until you build your financial foundation so most of the money goes into savings and investment for now. So if you are burning 400$ on monthly and earning 1000$ put whats left on your savings and investment until, you could passively earn that 400$.

This was just difficult to a lot of middle class earners since we could feel the inflation hitting and we needed to increase our budget for all of the things, because it was already cost more than before.

There is something even worse than this. Your expenses increase while your salary stays the same. Many of us are struggling with this problem. Inflation is very high but salaries are not increasing at the same rate. Rents are going up, grocery expenses are going up, bills are getting higher, taxes are increasing, everything is going up but salaries are increasing at a lower rate.

People gave up their old lifestyle for a long time. Things get even worse for the past few years. I don't know where this will end honestly. I don't see any hope for an ordinary person under this economy.

Surely working hard is very good if you ask me...But the bone of contention here isn't even about hard work, it is about increased needs and responsibility just as someone income grows..And when that happens, it begins to feel as if someone isn't working hard enough as he or she should... For example your previous income was $200 and due to your hard work, your income grew to being $500...Now we live in a world where folks are filled with so many expectations from other people...These people could be your siblings or your family members in general, and their expectations from you could very well contribute to increasing your needs which is like an addition to the personal needs that you already have...And when such a thing happens you will not even notice that you had an income raise because the additional money has gotten absorbed by these new responsibilities..So instead of you upgrading your lifestyle or giving you a better life like you said, you would rather be working so hard to keep up with your original lifestyle of when you were earning $200, that's just the irony of life..
