That's what seed phrases and private keys are for.

Your friend probably have been careless and didn't know that with those things will be used for the recovery of his funds.

He have his everything saved in that phone but the issue is that the device have some circuitry problem and the shopkeeper told him that we can't recover the phone while saving the data .
Although time has passed and he also doesn't know the password of that phone. He have saved every single detail in the notes on that phone.
That's sad, there's no way to recover it and it's only through him. I'm not a recovery expert with the data from the phone but I think if it's doable with the ssd/hdd of PCs and laptops.

Maybe with the mobile devices, there can also be possibility that it can be recovered. But it's about knowing if the file was there or saved notes or logs where he has put those important things like the seed.

I have a friend of mine who used to invest in BTC in 2016. He was using very low end device on that time , and succeeded to make money through the investment. But now he still invest in markets but he forgot the password of that mobile he used to use in 2016. He tried to recover it but everyone around him told him that we can recover the mobile but not the data.
You can loss your device but still have access to your wallet..if your friend have the seed phrase of the wallet he store or kept his bitcoin, it will be easier to recover the BTC...

But if he did not save the seed phrase elsewhere, that means he will lost the bitcoin, and it's impossible to recover it without having access to his device...That's why forum members alway emphasis that everyone should keep their seed phrase intact for safety measures...

Huh... As lovesmayfamilis said, it seems that he did make up the story. The problem is that until now he hasn't responded anymore even the chronology or the full story he hasn't explained even though many have asked for that explanation.

Actually, it's easy to respond to the unclear chronology of this OP, let's just scenario:
First: If he stores his BTC in a software wallet, he should save his seed phrase, in a separate place. When an event like this happens, just re-input the seed phrase. and that's it

Second: If he saves his BTC in the CEX APP on the cellphone, he just needs to log in again on another device. Done

It is actually weird. His friend makes two important mistake like forgetting phone password and the forgetting to write seed phrase that should not happen all together.

There is another possibility here, that is maybe when his friend found out somehow that this phone was holding Bitcoin so he stole that phone and since they are not professional thief they don't know where to go to recover the data.

Sounds unlikely if the part about damageg board is true. Stealing a phone then keeping every important data there instead of moving the assets asap sounds naive. Especially until the device itself got damaged with no backup at all. Anyway, mistake happens. At the very least this can be a lesson for OP's friend to make backups for important things. Electronic devices will break sooner or later.

Yeah , he also lost his last hope but I am somehow trying to help him cuz he is dealing with a large amount according to our view because he worked so hard for that to collect and now he is very upset , But the good thing is that he is still doing a good job and earned double amount of that.

So everything is okay then?  And hopefully he wont make that mistake again and will have kept his backups safe.

Yeah, I know it sucks, but it is good he is doing fine financially now.  Tell him to accept the loss, and make sure his current seeds and passwords are physically backed up on paper or steel next time.

This is a typical issue many back then experienced. Their mobile phone is basically where they save all their value without having a backup anywhere and whenever something bad happens to that phone, they end up losing everything, and since bitcoin was not that valuable during the time you explained there won't also be much of a reason for your friend to have a secondary backup, the next option is what Charles have suggested.

Don't tell the engineer or the phone repairs that you have Bitcoin on the wallet, they can make you give up the phone so they can retrieve it.

Only if he left the phone with them or sell it. People mostly do this mistake of giving out or selling their devices to technicians when they are told it can not be repaired again. There's no way I'm falling for that trick. I will frankly tell them you don't need it either if it can not be repaired.

Quote
Since the shop keeper told your friend that something is wrong with the circuit, hopefully it has nothing to do with the motherboard replacement. You should ask him what circuit is faulty. You should also ask your friend the particular product of the phone, you never can tell if you can get the same phone as scrap from other market place. You should be able to replace the chip that is good with the main phone and maybe it will work.

The problem here is incomplete information. Op story is not complete and the shop keeper is not specific either. Which of the circuit is faulty? If we know the particular circuit, we can tell if it's possible to replace it I can tell this is not a job to be done by random street phone repairers. Only experienced technicians can handle it but we don't even know how much worth of Bitcoin we are talking about here to know if it worth the stress and expenses.

How about the seed phrase? He did not backup the seed phrase somewhere like on paper?

One thing about phone password is that to brute force it is hard. After like 5 attempts, it may keep doubling the times needed to try another password.

He should backup the seed phrase on paper or on metal sheet like stainless steel or titanium next time.
Although is not every newbies that has the common sense of figuring out to backup their seeds phrase or hand written by himself without being guide from the day one, if a proper foundation is not properly handled by the person that introduced him to Bitcoin and i know that this is also common mistake most investors always make from the period they created Bitcoin account or any other exchanges wallet, i could have been a victim of such situation but the only luck i have that, i was able to have the idea of backing up everythings concerning anything online registration with my email and since then i having making use of both book recording and backup.

You should try to be more specific when you are providing such critical information.
In your case, you can recover your bitcoin keys if the notes application has a cloud backup.
In that case you can download the app on other phone and open the notes with the same Id you entered on previous app and fetch the data.
If the notes app didn't have cloud backup, you can try to use data recovery tools to see if it can detect your phone in recovery mode and recover app data.
In that case, you can download that app data and use it on other phone to fetch the bitcoin data.

Some people are just careless, maybe because they feel something uncertain wouldn't happen, and so there is no preparation for this emergencies. Some people feel so wise that it isn't necessary, or that they can still remember there seed phrase or don't just plan for such happenings because they feel that they won't loss there phone for nay reason, forgetting that anything can happen.

Newbies should always be very careful while dealing with there acounts. Anything could happen. And if these things are forgotten just as the case we have here, it's gonna be difficult to recover them and probably, you could loose your assets. I always prefer writing it down somewhere and keeping it safe.

I hope that OP can reply me on this, what type of wallet was he using in the smartphone before it got locked and password becomes unrecoverable? There is no way to bypass recovery seed before your wallet becomes accessible to you.
You will have to activate the wallet by confirming the recovery seeds first. And if this is not what happened then the wallet installed on the phone is a custodial wallet.

Maybe the only response the OP need is how to get his smartphone recovered without losing the data in the phone, which is related to factory reset on the device because it seems like the device have some fault which needs to be addressed, and in that process, he is afraid of losing his data in the phone which might include his wallet backup which was not supposed to be saved on the phone in the first place, but since the mistake has been made, to correct it will be hard because if the fault has affected some parts of the phone’s panel, he will lose the data completely, but if it can be managed to get it recovered without losing any data, we can then talk about the type of wallet and how to recover the Bitcoin.

Yeah , he also lost his last hope but I am somehow trying to help him cuz he is dealing with a large amount according to our view because he worked so hard for that to collect and now he is very upset , But the good thing is that he is still doing a good job and earned double amount of that.

You lost an amount, but you worked for years to make double the amount; that isn't the same. And I am still not clear about the issue here because you didn't mentioned the questions that is asked.

He has the seed phrase or if it is an exchange, he can login from any device.
@Bitcoin Smith you have hit on a very important key point with the inquisitive to know what type of wallet is in the question.
And while we are yet to know, if it is regulating wallet as the exchange and he looses his login passwords, definitely can be retgain his access by logging in through diffiferent devices as far as he has access to his recovery email or contact.

If we assume it is anon custodial wallet but don't have seed backup while the device got brick then it is still possible to recover the data, not just any mobile service centre and even the official brand won't do that but some experts can take the data stored chip and work it on with different IC and something to recover the data. It can be a costly one, a lot higher than the actual cost of the phone but the amount saved is worth it to give it a try?
I would say it is a whole lot of expensive going to the device brands factory in request of reinstall the device internal storage chip to other device.
That is certainly going to be a special order which I also think he is going to provide some legal documents from the security agencies for security purposes and for the brand to also keep their reputation but as OP said, the wallet contains a huge sum of Bitcoin so, if it worth it, he can take the risk.

And perhaps, even this said alternative may not be reliable.

There are literally programs for recovering wallets

BTCRecover (the 3rdIteration version)
FinderOuter by Coding Enthusiast

These programs support recovery of many different types of seeds, key formats and passwords, provided that you already know enough information about them

They have been around the forum for a long time, these pieces of software

If you know you are being careless about how you handle your passwords, seed phrase or any other private key and sensitive information, then don't come into cryptocurrency because you may likely go reckless about how to handle this as well and end up losing your coins, this is where we must be intentional about what we are doing in cryptocurrency and not just to invest alone and let go of everything, we have to be security mindful of every step and decision taken, to make sure that they are of necessity to the protection of our asset in crypto, we no longer have security and trust with centralized platform and that is why we take over by ourselves to have used bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency as we want for our freedom financially.

Yeah , he also lost his last hope but I am somehow trying to help him cuz he is dealing with a large amount according to our view because he worked so hard for that to collect and now he is very upset , But the good thing is that he is still doing a good job and earned double amount of that.
Why aren’t you telling your friend to take the phone to a reputed data recovery center? No software or application can solve problem like this. Even though your friend has forgotten the phone’s password maybe they can somehow repair the phone and recover the data.

Since the phone is quite old its security and encryption is not as advanced as the phones nowadays so there is at least some hope of recovering the data.

Many people are just giving their advice on how to help op unlock the phone. What if the phone is not truly their own? What if it’s a phone that was stolen from someone that’s into crypto and they trying access the phone to steal from the person. If op and his friend don’t know their password they should forget about whatever that is in that phone. It’s a big not to document informations on paper.
