I believe this is the worst government so far in the history of Nigeria with nearly or approximately 6-10 trillion Naira in debts. From this history of Nigeria so far and I do not see anything to be happy about our country, instead things are even getting more worst on a regular basis. Of course you are right, at least for the life we have is good for us. There are people who is late today that never see today to celebrate but we that are living, at least we should be thankful for preservation, protection and guidance from our Creator for given us sounds health and also making out ways for us to see food to eat is enough to celebrate.

There is no debt free country out there, even the country we keep trying to compare Nigeria to, saying they are doing far better then us, some of them have bigger debts then we do. You might argue thst the money isn't being used for the right reasons, after all we don't trust our politicians even though we keep electing them year after year and then using election rigging as our excuse.
The country is in a bad place, and instead of complaining about it we should do our own part to make sure the country becomes a better place, election is coming in a few months.

Truth be told today just feels like an ordinary day to me regardless of the fact that it’s Independence Day we are still not independent as a nation.

Over the years the price of things have continued to skyrocket and standard of living keeps getting tremendously high making the citizens lean on survival mode ,most even lose their lives in the process of trying to survive the hardship in the country.

Let’s not begin to talk about the insecurities,killings and abductions that have happened over years mostly in the north and nothing is really done about it.

For me I would have even liked it if the whites where still in Nigeria and we didn’t gain any independence maybe the law and order would still be abiding just maybe the country would have really been a lot developed than it is now.

I am not saying that there is no debt free nation out there, but I am telling you that the debt rate has increased badly.. imagine having a debt increase of 6-10 trillion Naira was extremely higher, even more than expected and also even higher than expected. The highest so far in the history of Nigeria. Of course, there is no country without debt which should be at least controlled or regulated so that it shouldn't be that much. Just imagine borrowing upto 10 trillion Naira just on an interproximal space of 3 years and 10 months is extremely bad and that shows incompetency. Could you give account on what they uses those money to do?
Which is of the federal roads do they use that money to build? Is there any company or Industry that is built with that money where her citizens would be working while they deduct their taxes from there?

Happy 66th Independence Day anniversary Nigeria, a country blessed with diverse ethnic nationalities and languages, a country blessed with various natural resources and minerals, though it is quite unfortunate that despite been so blessed as a nation, greed, tribalism, corruption, religion etc have kept on us stagnant this long, Nigeria is so blessed that if our politicians have used just 50% of our resources to invest in development of the country by now Nigeria would have been competing with America, China, Russia and other top world countries.

As we celebrate independence let’s keep hope alive, believing that some day Nigeria will be great again, let’s continue to do good to people in our own little way, ensure to live a life of peace worthy of emulation so that the efforts of our past heroes won’t be in vain.

If not that the birth of everything is very important and sacrosanct to celebrate I don't see anything worth celebrating at Nigeria on her 66th birthday because we have literally gone through hell in this very administration under President Tinubu and so what exactly are we celebrating as a nation, is it kidnapping, human trafficking, bombing and terrorizing the country that we will gather to celebrate? So as for myself we don't have a reason to celebrate.

I understand that Nigeria is still a very Young country compared to how we have developed for this past years but we have the natural resources that we need to have developed more than the way we are now but greed and corruption has made every step to advancement proof futile. This is not possible, just search online about what the president has done and you will see some good things that he has done. The president is back from France to celebrate the independence day and he was looking hearty and strong than the time he left for overseas.  I think the rest he took has been good for his health as it's all reflect on him.
I believe that many Nigerians aren't happy with the way he is governing the country which is not different from tyranny, for that reason,i guess this independence day won't be widely celebrated.

I will not celebrate the independence day because the government hasn't given me any reason to.  we are at war against insurgency,corruption and a fragile economy so why should I be celebrating?

You're very correct for noticing this error of saying that the president has not achieved anything since his assumption into the office. This country has been through several leaderships from all zones of the nation, we have experienced several level of bad leadership and we have also experienced the coming of the short-lived saviour, Musa Yar'Adua. We have been through the ticks and thins but none has broken us. We are in this regime and we have learned the difference in the past leaderships. The president has done well in some areas but he has also increased suffering by his tax reforms and removal of fuel subsidy and unending naira devaluation.

We can be sad because of the hardship but the initiation of the coastal road is a huge project and nationwide road projects. This can be political but I still know that it's a necessity. He has also increased the minimum wage to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy even though it's not enough for the civil servants but at least he did something to that effect. We hope for a better Nigeria and we also hope for a better leadership. Come next year, it's everyone's civic responsibility to vote wisely and change the government for better. Nigeria shall be great again. Happy independence day to all of us.

You are right the debt rate has actually increased, from what i heard this morning that everybody in Nigeria both the new born babies are debted to pay 700k each which means that Nigeria has actually borrowed a lot that each head in Nigeria will have to pay the sum of 700k if Nigeria want to clean up this debt. If these funds that are been borrowed by our leaders are use properly for the development of the country it would have be okey but they borrow and also embezzled it and this present administration is not still tired of borrowing money, now i want to asked does it mean that the countries loaning this money to Nigeria know that Nigeria is capable of paying them back or maybe they already know what to do if we can't pay?

Today 30/09/2026 is marked Nigeria independent day, a day that is worth celebrating in the history of Nigeria. In the past , this day was being celebrated with all happiness, but today the reverse is the case. It would have been better that Nigerians are celebrating today along side with good governance, and achievements instead Nigerians are saddened in the heart about the present condition of our dear country Nigeria. There can not be any celebration when people are living in hunger, and hardship, there cannot be celebration in the mist of insecurity, and there cannot be celebration when Nigerians are tired of the activities of these political leaders. Today, there is total silence all over the country, and instead of celebrating Nigeria as a country is now as if there is mourning in the country.
This situation is really ugly, and we can't afford to continue this way. Election is coming up, and the plan is for APC government to return to office for the second tenure, no one should be confused by their fake promises saying they will do better, let every reasonable Nigerian say no to this malicious governance, and the decision of the citizens will prevail

We all know say that "Children are the leaders of tomorrow" nah lie them dey use tell them sef. E even sure me say children no dey too sing that song for school again. The speech Peter Obi give nah reflection of wetin dey happen but who go change am? I feel your pain, but the gospel truth is that can you put your life on the line for the people born after October 1st, 1960 to rule Nigeria because that can't be achievable by just casting your vote for Peter Obi come 2027 and you go home and relax, you need to protect your vote by demanding accountability from INEC so that election results won't be manipulated by INEC. October 1st is a day we celebrate Nigeria for gaining her independence, and Nigerians dressed in green and white clothes to make the celebrations colourful, but in this year October 1st everywhere is quiet in my local government nobody is celebrating anything, I don't know if it's like that in other local governments in Nigeria.

That's another problem we have. How on earth would a country who claim to be independent for 66 years now still can't take major decisions on it own. Small thing, boom! Off they go to another man's land to do inquiry and ask how to go about issues. They are ready to take orders and live by it no matter the consequences.

The quietness over here is really something else, though it only shows one thing which is that people are gradually giving up on our country, every one anticipation is always that things get better but only to be surprised as how bad things keep getting. I have been asking myself that should this fight really have to be something one have to put his life on the line? Is bad and painful no doubt while it will take an extra mind to make such decision of putting your life on the line for this. Honestly things are really getting out of hand, just imagine how we can't boost of anything good happening in the country, complains everywhere.
