I do not think the world will adopt that.
Trump called the AI tech giants Sam Altman/Greg Brockman, Dario Amodei, Sundar Pichai, Mark Zuckerberg, Jensen Huang, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Satya Nadella, Alex Karp, Lisa Su on the 29th of September to discuss about how AI can remain safe for humanity.
But the way he talked about changing AI to SI (Super Intelligence) is somehow as if AI is not fit for it. Is it necessary to change the name?
I think Trump is doing all things that will not make his name to be forgotten. Politically I have noticed this about him.
all this seems to me more like a marketing speech than anything else, the fact is that these entrepreneurs in the world of AI are trying in every way to bring grist to their mill, trying to attract as many people as possible, with these shots on safety they make people more and more curious to go and try it. Pay attention, every time they come up with the "safety problem" and in the end the new super, hyper, mega ultra model comes out punctually, whatever...

Luckily this time around, we have some very good competitions and alternatives from China, and it would have even been much better if more countries had joined this artificial intelligence race sooner. You don't want to see a repeat of when we used to overrely on products from the capitalistic American tech giants such as Microsoft, Google, and Amazon. Boy oh boy, they hit us from all angles. From illegally profiting from user data to high subscription plans. It's one of the reasons piracy is very high.

Without them, how much would we be shelling out, and how many people would even get a shot at owning a smartphone? We kinda owe China a thank you. Without them we'd be paying through the nose, thanks to the monopoly and tyranny of so called elite Western tech.LOL But I'm not too optimistic about more countries jumping into the AI race. So far, China is the only one that can really compete with the US.

The name does not matter at all. AI, SI, and whatever name that will originate in the future do not change the fact that the technology is advanced. I still prefer AI over SI. The intelligence is artificial, not natural. Super Intelligence, on the other hand, can be artificial or natural. Trump may have said that to get the attention of people, but it isn't anything personal to him. I believe we are reading more meaning into what he says, while he sometimes says those words for mere entertainment.

Trump has decided that anyone who uses the term "Artificial Intelligence" instead of "Super Intelligence" is THE ENEMY. https://x.com/WatcherGuru/status/2108238301845156017He doesn't care that there are more than 1.2 million websites registered in the ".ai" domain zone? x.ai, perplexity.ai... However, the .si domain zone is the official national domain of Slovenia, which is currently experiencing an unprecedented boom thanks to Trump. Maybe Mr. President bought all the major website names on the .si domain and is selling them? And then he'll say we're going back to .ai?

~snip~ I think Trump is doing all things that will not make his name to be forgotten. Politically I have noticed this about him.
He has already gone down in history as the strangest US president ever, and no one will remember him for anything good or meaningful. He dragged the US into an even deeper financial abyss, started a war that he cannot win, destroyed alliances created for decades, and now all he has to do is to get even more rich personally and change the names of rivers, lakes, etc. Also include the tariff policy war with China that failed and the taking control of Greenland, which was not successful, He used his Presidential status for self-satisfaction and to pursue personal financial interests, including crypto and AI. Unfortunately, the next President will have to come into office to clean up his mess.

Imagine if DeepSeek, Qwen, Kimi didn't exist...god knows how much we'd be getting gouged just to access ChatGPT or Claude. It would be so terrible. It already was before DeepSeek, Z.ai, Qwen and Kimi became so popular. Their subscription plans are just too high compared to the Chinese counterparts. Same goes for Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo or BYD. Without them, how much would we be shelling out, and how many people would even get a shot at owning a smartphone? We kinda owe China a thank you. Without them we'd be paying through the nose, thanks to the monopoly and tyranny of so called elite Western tech.LOL They fought the Japanese tech dominance so hard and ended up making Japan their puppet. China is the right now the new saviour But I'm not too optimistic about more countries jumping into the AI race. So far, China is the only one that can really compete with the US.
A number of countries can join in and stop the overdependence. Russia, India, Iran, and some South American and African countries. It's all about breaking the chain of dependence.

Yes, this is true. He posted it on Truth Social today. https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/117406176604364910What Trump is doing is not necessary. He wanted himself to be remembered in the future is exactly what he is doing. I think Trump is pained that people are not using SI. He should not be surprised in the future if no companies or people using SI.

It doesn't apply to companies or regular users, and it has no legal effect on them. So basically nothing changes. He should not be surprised in the future if no companies or people using SI.
Yep, definitely. Like I said, it only applies to US government departments and agencies. Besides, it's just an executive order signed by the sitting president, and another president can revoke it. I doubt private companies or orgs adopting the term when it can get reversed anytime. https://www.freshfields.com/en/our-thinking/blogs/a-fresh-take/trump-executive-order-mandates-shift-to-super-intelligence-102o403

This includes individuals, organisations, private institutions and government institutions. What he is enforcing on everyone doesn't make sense at all. Someone used to saying AI can't start saying SI fluently overnight. I doubt if he has gotten used to the SI.

I fail to see the meaningful purpose behind such a move. Changing the label of something doesn't alter its underlying implementation or real-world impact. Measures like this seem to be nothing more than focusing on form rather than substance in an age dominated by images.

If Donald J. Trump renaming Ai (artificial intelligence) to Si (super intelligence) will improve Ai and protect users data, then Donald J. Trump proposal is quite a good one but if his intention of changing Ai (artificial intelligence) to Si (super intelligence) is for him to be remember when his tenure as the president of the United States ends, I think he should allow the initial name Ai (artificial intelligence) to remain.

Yep, he did use the word "anyone" in his tweet, but the executive order he signed only applies to US federal agencies. The private sector isn't covered by it, so switching from AI to SI is entirely up to them. Don't care if he's used to the name or not, tbh. What I care about more is where the term "SI" ends up once his term is over. Looks like Zuckerberg's testing the waters with "superintelligence" instead of AI too, according to TechSpot. No official word on renaming Meta AI to Meta SI yet, tho. But he did use the term 60 times in an AI essay he published this Monday. https://www.techspot.com/news/114099-elon-musk-spacexai-become-spacexsi-following-trump-push.htmlhttps://www.theguardian.com/technology/2026/aug/10/mark-zuckerberg-superintelligent-ai-essay-meta

Maybe AI should still remain in use while we should apply SI as an advance AI improvised technology like that which operate with quantum and other technologies serving as an improvement over AI. So I don't expect the renaming instead we should wait to see more advanced technologies that will have more better features than what AI could do and give them the super intelligence technology. Your idea makes a lot of sense to me, there is no need to create confusion around AI by just suddenly changing it's name for the sake of it, the name "AI" have been accepted because it is what it is an opposite of our natural intelligence which should be artificial intelligence. Maybe in the future when there is a clear upgrade in the innovations of AI which would be obviously more superb than what AI can do today that is when it will be generally accepted that the upgrade is a superior super intelligence to the AI that we are used to. Allowing the name to remain as AI would be better than forcing it on everyone to change what we are used to which is deserving of what it is called. I can't help but agree that Trump, wants to write his name in the history of technological advancements but he doesn't have to go any extra miles to achieve that because he will remain one of the most popular US presidents in the history of America.

Sounds true, you see, nobody wants his name or legacy to be forgotten, people should remember more of the good side of it and dragging this conversation to Trump, is funny. He knows what he's doing, changing the name from AI to SI doesn't change the fact that when it takes over like taking care of our jobs while we watch, it only says one thing, which is we as humans are not in control of what we should be doing. The best thing he should do is stop it completely, I mean the development of AI or SI as the case may be instead of saying changing the name will keep humanity safe, no way, I know he won't try to stop it, even if he changes the name from AI to SI or change it from SI to HI (Human Intelligence), we can't be comfortable and safe with it, these guys had already planned out all these things and they want us to be comfortable with what ever comes with it, that is it pure political ideas.
Trump is just trying to do things deliberately. He is doing things to make sure that his name is attached to everything he just want to leave his name attached even to things that were in existence long before he came into power. But I think that changing name of a technology is something that he cannot decide by his own will. It is not that easy. I am paying attention to discussion because it has become very popular topic right now but developers and computer scientists are the people who are going to decide and they are the ones who understand the technology and they are the ones who use these terms in their work. Changing name of the technology makes sense when there is a well discussed reason behind it, not just because someone wanted it and just wanted to be remembered.

Trump has age more than his government works and he does things that many people are angry about because they change things that people are connected to.Although he does not do such things for good, he thinks about himself that he is making America better, but there is nothing true in that. Wherever he does something, it will benefit himself and the government first. He does not care much about the people. He can make people happy by attacking his enemy so that people will vote for him again, but in reality he neither starts from the head nor goes to the feet.He has also benefited a lot from crypto. When he came to power, the price of Bitcoin increased and then its popularity among the people became positive, but we all know what the reality is. In the case of AI, this may be Trump's own thinking because China is also faster than AI, so Trump wants to make it better than China, so he is working on it.

In my opinion, the name change is unnecessary and distracts from more serious issues when comes to AI. The name change won't do anything to change the fact AI continues to be used by criminals groups to hack companies, the name change won't do anything to protect our environment from costly data centers.
In the end, the name does not actually matter, Trump is only trying to create a new standard on the name of AI because if his ego and because he want to continue to be as relevant as possible in branches he is not supposed to have anything to do with... Like technology. He is not a scientist, he is a real state investor and politician.

I think replacing the names of products doesn't mean the function of products has changed. And many people might be caught in this misleading trap. Can you believe that by changing the AI to SI it's becoming safer and stronger just by replacing the wording? Obviously not. Globally, Trump is famous for his fake announcements and immature reactions, and on 29th September he signed a deal to change AI's name to SI. I think it's a foolish decision, instead of changing the name of leaders, we should improve it and give free access to poor people who can't afford the premium version of it.
Your point is also very crazy and accurate about Trump that he makes fake and attractive announcements so that he remains in the news, but these steps gradually decrease his fame and reputation over time. He makes mostly fake announcements, so maybe replacing AI with SI may be fake, but if it happens, what should we do? We should remain updated with new technology. In case one system fails, we must be ready to use an alternative.

You're wrong there. Say this to MAGA idiots and they will respond to you that Trump is the best president in US and every his decision is very smart move which is beneficial for USA. Gulf of Mexico turned into Gulf of America. Denali became Mount McKinley. The Department of Defense became the Department of War. The US Institute of Peace was renamed after Trump. The Kennedy Center became the Trump Kennedy Center. Lake Ontario changed to Lake America. And now AI gets swapped to SI. Guess we will see a few more changes before his term is over, with another two years to go. Let's not even get into his economic and political achievements yet, but one thing's for sure, a lot of people are probably gonna remember him for these weird and kinda eccentric changes. LOL. Trump always was a bit strange person, but now he is getting even more weird. Don't know why exactly he is doing it, probably he wants to leave his mark in history books. Trump used to laugh from ''Sleepy'' Joe Biden, but what he is doing now is much more ridiculous. I don't think it's good when 80 years old man rules most powerful country in the world.
