The US left GRECO, a peer to peer review body on financial crimes led by public officers, at the absence of the foreign watchdogs that call out the foul play happening on the inside of US public offices, bribes sent or diversed to crypto could get overlooked.

Why it affects the ecosystem.

  • The officers are not looking to help the market but to fuel their riches at the cost of whatever punishment the mass users face in future.
  • Heavy restrictions follows up to curtail the crime, which returns to affect the crypto ecosystem.

In a nutshell, the US government chose to cut costs and focus on investigating financial crimes led through public offices themselves. The good side of it is that they won't have to send blank checks to international bodies to review these offices. The downside being that some officers will get immune of the review in some certain financial crime, like the exemption of the President and the Vice President in the Federal conflict of interest laws, which was pointed out by GRECO to be changed.  By quitting, this exemption won't be addressed or wont be called out anymore.

Crypto sponsored bribery? This is the tag you leave on Crypto-currency that actually creates the real stain on Bitcoin and Crypto-currency at large and we are influencing it.
First using the tern crypto sponsored you are saying that Crypto-currency sponsored the bribery with is wrong grammatically but that not all it the sort of headlines people take from it and think of Bitcoin negatively.
Crypto was used to give out bribe is more like it and does not put Crypto-currency as the principal subject, in a bribery case.

I made an adjustment, hopefully its clearer now, when I said crypto sponsored, I meant the issued crypto to a corrupt public officer sponsored their actions. Also, crypto is decentralized and is not pointing directly to a certain group or organization.

Taking bribes should not be tolerated because it is a bad practice, and whether you are a public servant or not, you should know what is right and what is wrong.

The use of cryptocurrency in any illegal form should be forbidden, for illegal activity creates an impression that cryptocurrency is intended for any form of fraudulent activity, and people already know that some kind of intent to perpetrate fraud exists. For all these reasons, we must stand to create the difference by using cryptocurrency in the right way.

He isn't directly placing the blame on cryptocurrency, but on the public officers. I think the topic title contradicts what I'm saying. OP went too raw with his statement in the title of this post.

I used to tell people that cryptocurrency isn't what's bringing crime into society. Without cryptocurrency, there will still be online crimes and ways scammers use to steal money. The first means of paying for bribes started with physical assets, then moved to physical money, and now crypto is being used.

-cut-
Why it affects the ecosystem.

  • The officers are not looking to help the market but to fuel their riches at the cost of whatever punishment the mass users face in future.
Aside the fact that this is corruption:

1. NO ONE who is investing is looking to "help" the market but make the profit.

2. Government official shouldn't use their rank to "help" the markets or enrich themselves.

3. If you don't see need of same regulations for everyone as a punishment, then punishing public officers doesn't cause a "mass punishment".

US exiting from anti corruption group however could lead to equivalent mass punishment, because it increases the corruption and makes punishing disproportional. It will hurt more smaller criminals who don't have the skills and teams to launder their money.

4. Regulations are tightening as we speak. That's why they are exiting, to save their own asses from future investigations.[/list]

Taking bribery should not be tolerated by an officer that is meant to enforce the law on anyone that intend to do something similar to that. There is no way corruption is going to vanish in this world where people are looking for how they can accumulate wealth and build several houses for their families to live for it without spelling suffering in their next generations. Bribery and corruption can not be stopped at all. If you don't encourage it or like it, there are people that are busy and ready to spoil the system.

Corruption is everywhere, and it is affecting the ecosystem. Crypto is not a problem but the misuse of it is a problem. Bribery has existed forever, even before cryptocurrencies, and banning them or restricting crypto because some people are using it for illegal payments could punish the other users who are using it correctly and legitimately.
The main focus now should be on trying to improve transparency, also track any sort of suspicious transaction and also make those officials accountable for any sort of bribe, whether it is paid in cash through cryptocurrency or any bank transaction. Investigators can take help from cryptocurrency permanent blockchain record of cryptocurrency, which can help in tracing the movement of funds. We cannot assume that crypto is the cause of all corruption it is the responsibility of the regulators to target the people abusing it while also maintaining reasonable rules and protecting the businesses and users.

Go to France and see how the number of public officers are taking advantage of their positions and scamming citizens; these challenges are not limited to France alone, but any other part of the world can also be affected,d depending on how scammers use trending routes to operate their schemes. I will always advise that we should not always appear in public to disclose what we are doing or let others know our worth in assets, just for our own safety.

It's very likely that such body is not credible enough to peer review corruption. I'm a witness to how incredibly corrupt they can be. You are only credible when you handle corruption effectively without partiality, but they tend focus on people who oppose their dark agenda or refuse to do their bidding. In fact, if you want to be financially corrupt, just do their bidding. They would only go after you when you rebel against them. Dark entity could use such bodies to blackmail public officials of foreign countries who do not obey them.
By the way such bodies should be independent enough, and their key members should be impartial people who can review issues without considering whether their allies, friends or loved ones will be affected. Consider how issues are/were handled between Russia and Ukraine, Ethiopia, Israel vs Palestine, Sahel etc. They barely consider the interest of their enemies, those they hate or don't do their bidding.  They are like the Pharisees of the old who would rather see people suffer than allow them break a law that was meant for the wellbeing of man. If a law forbids a part of a country from seceding from a country, what happens when that part is oppressed or maltreated by the country? If you come to the aid of this mistreat one, the Pharisees will be mad at that you for breaking the law on territorial integrity. To them the law is more important than the wellbeing of the oppressed.
Such people are not qualified to be in such bodies.

And, people who are OK with such bodies, are not qualified enough to make laws to regulate crypto. They will still import their partiality into crypto and even violate laws that are meant to protect the privacy of the innocent in their quest to hunt down people who refuse to bend to their will.
