Assalamu Alaikum. I am a staff member at a complex and reside in Gazipur. I currently work for a reputable company but wish to start a business in Gazipur—one where products can be sold through both online and offline channels. Although I plan to start on a small scale, I want the business to have the potential for significant growth in the future. I intend to launch this venture with a budget of $1,000 to $1,200; what kind of business would you suggest? I believe many of you here are involved in business in real life, so I would appreciate your advice and guidance. I also hope you will share your insights regarding any businesses you might be running yourselves.
Thank you.

For 1 lakh rupees, you can set up a roadside cart shop which can be related to foods like chaat or even meals and just add them to swiggy/zomato to go online.

FYI you will need FSSAI license to link with food delivery apps.

You can join the Indian Local Board for more details: India[/ur]

When it comes to launching and running a business, it's all about how well or how familiar you are with the business. I cannot advise you to go into a food business if you do not know how to cook, so ask yourself what you are good at. Buying and selling is a profitable venture, but you need to do a feasibility study first and find your market.

Creating a business is all about knowing your business and knowing who your target market is. Dig deep, sit down and study, and you will find a business and a market to explore.

These days the most productive and profitable businesses are digital businesses that requires little or no budget at all. There would always be a need for something, so when you can provide a solution for that need, you could get paid for that service.

There are a good number of digital skills like social media management, AI skills (AI automation, prompt writing, etc), web development, video editing, data analysis and the rest. Though a lot of these skills are replaced by AI but not everybody knows how to maximize the use of AI to achieve a valuable result.

That's where the importance and value of humans come in, there's a limit to what AI can do without the intervention of human knowledge.

You can’t just rely on what other people’s suggestions here. You have to consider a lot of things.

1. Location
- what products would be great in your area?

2. Demographics
- what products does my target demographics often need or want?

3. Competition
- Is there any competitors offering the same product near you?

Perhaps you could narrow it down to smaller options once you’ve answered these three.

And since you’re just starting up, you may also consider going for something where your products can be stocked for a long time since you don’t know how long will it be on stock. Unless, you prefer entering food business.

Do not expect for a bigger profit as a small business startup, there might be more expenses than income in the beginning. But it’s normal so don’t be discouraged.

The kind of business you are looking at is a side hustle since you work at a reputable company. I know you won't be leaving your job for the business you want to venture into.

First of all, you have to keep in mind that you need someone who will help you run the business you have in mind because you won't be available to run your business at all times while you are at work.

Back to the question of a business to start with a small budget($1000): going into business like clothing, a mini supermarket, or groceries is a good business. All the mentioned businesses can be run by someone you gonna pay while you work and earn in your workplace

Your itemised business requirements are quite impressive,  with or without enough capital  the location of choice is very important so you will know what is needed within that environment.  For example,  we all know we are in a challenging moment where what to eat is considered very important especially in our rural areas that lacks job opportunities for citizens,  instead of going into eatable commodities one chooses to invest in vehicles and other high businesses, what makes you think there will be high turn over.
To start up any business be it big or small, the environment must be considered because that is the only thing that determines high or low turn over.

Building a product from scratch is way harder than it seems. But it's not bad if you want to try it. What about you try a better option whereby you look for a product and find a way to make it better. Like for instance a product that's already servicing people, but you find a way to improve it and get it to people.

For the amount you want to start, put a smaller amount and see whether people will like it. If they don't it, you can improve on it again and try and sell it again or better still look for another product and try ans improve it.  Just continue the circle until you get it right.

If one eventually clicks, then  you can think about scalability. How to reach a wider audience. For now perfect the product because that will be your selling point.

From what you have described, you'll likely not have the time or chance to do a physical business, unless you are willing to sacrifice your current job for the business you want to start up. A new start up usually needs the presence of the owner if you want it to scale, because most employees are not trust worthy nowadays and going by your initial budget you can't even hire one as that will be a financial mistake.

I can't point at any particular niche because I don't know what you are good at, but I'll suggest that any niche you finally decide, make sure your focus is online marketing. Your focus should be on utilising social media as a business hub. You can build your presence gradually and with time, patience and hardwork, you'll definitely see results. You don't even need to spend big, just make out time for few contents per day (maybe at night depending on the nature of your current job) and then watch how your business will scale significantly.
It is fact that we cannot rely on our employees because the pain we feel for it's growth no one can have same intensity. But in my opinion do not focus on investment in Monterey term. Instead it is better to spend time in searching online working. Here our progress is not depend upon the physical activity or the number of employees we hire. But its depends upon totally on our own struggles, or it requires lower investment as compared to physical projects. It save us from Rental expenses, employees wages, customer dealing, and construction of buildings. So it is feasible according to me, may be you have more options that may be better than this. But if the choice will be in my hand then i prefer online working platform. The appealing thing of this business is time feasibility, means we can continue our routine job along with it. When we feel financial better ourselves then we can take shift easily.

Determining the right business for you can be difficult, as location plays a significant role in business, and each region has different needs. First, analyze your local area to see what's most sought after by locals. However, if you have limited capital, a service and equipment business is a good fit, such as opening a repair shop, gadget repair, or other businesses that offer services beyond just selling products.

If we will fit your budget, I guess opening a shop with its monthly rental will only swallow your money so just focus with online selling first like shoes, shirts, bags or even skincare products as most of women and teens are into it these days. If you have an active partner that can monitor the business orders online then that would be much better as you are already making profits while you are working on your 8-hour day job.

When you are already seeing bigger profits, you can add more stuffs into it like phone and tech accessories or other digital products, and eventually open a physical store and hire a trustable person on your shop.

I don’t think a thousand to $1200 will be enough to cover the expenses for the type of business idea you have in your head; first you will need to rent a physical shop. where you can use as office and your products can also be be sampled offline, which this will cost money, you also need to have an online store which you will also need to pay a developer that will put it in place and then the product to sell should he decided base on what you have idea about and things you think your target audience will want, I can suggest for you since we are base in total different countries.

Yeah, I also feel it's a bit difficult to start up this type of business he's talking about with the above mentioned amount.  $1200 is little although I would have say it will go a long way if he had based onfline but this one he's planning on operating online and offline I don't think if $1200 could solve that, but I believe he can actually achieve his target but first he have to focus on offline first I believe the expenses will be a bit cheaper when it is done offline then after spending some years in running it offline by then he must have make alot of profit that will be enough to start running it online, so he just need to take it slow to avoid unnecessary mistake.

What is the most common business there in Gazipur? then don't do that and don't add to the competition.
Look for a boring business that is going to click there in the area where people will need it.
Food business is too hectic and sensitive.
Maybe for some leisure like renting a bike if it's possible in the area.
Or be a middleman for vegetables or what you can import in other areas and by bringing it to Gazipur.

Since Gazipur is a place known for its readymade garments and textile manufacturing industry as the most profitable large-scale business in your area, hence you can buy some of it and market it online, and add some personal or customized stuffs that will hit online. That way, you won't rush profiting in your business because you have a rent to pay. Sell them online and maybe nearby cities and provinces will be interested in your stuffs and create a good business with them.

You don't have to start it big, just start with your small idea that can offer solution to the people.

IMHO, that's enough. He's said to start with small scale so he doesn't have to put up a physical store right away. He can take orders online and just use his apartment or home as his stock room for that one product that he choose to sell. It's good to start small and I think with that amount, he's already overwhelmed of what can happen to it. Make a market research first OP, I won't suggest any type of business to you. Look at what the people in your area needs, water, professional services, or any other product. As long as you can solve one existing problem there.

Idk how the economy looks in your country or OP's. But honestly, starting a business with that amount would be straight up impossible where Im at.

Even if it's enough to start something small I still would not do it if that's all money you have and you don't have anything set aside. Business doesn't always make money right away. It can take time to get customers and bring revenue. Putting everything you have into it can put you in a pretty bad spot if thing do not go as planned.
While that can be small in your area, I think that the good thing here is that he should just simply start it regardless of how much the capital is. We don't have to start big if we want to put up a business. For as long as there's the opportunity and the chance that we can make money out of it in the beginning just to see the potential, he has to do it.

Its a pretty vague question like uneng said . We don't really know what market looks like where OP lives . What people need or want , so tbh it's hard to give advice that's actually useful.
Right. He knows better than us which business is good to start with in his place.

Its a pretty vague question like uneng said . We don't really know what market looks like where OP lives . What people need or want , so tbh it's hard to give advice that's actually useful.
Right. He knows better than us which business is good to start with in his place.
Some businesses, like a food business, will flourish in any community, but my concern is the budget with which you are entering the market. You have to not allow it to limit the goal you have to own a business where customers patronize you online and offline too.

Sectionalize the goals and set milestones of achievement, so even if your budget to start the business is not sufficient, you will have a roadmap to the goal and dream you have for your business.

I always recommend the food business because people will always eat. If there are many food businesses already, make your own unique one by maybe offering a special dish or recipe.

Starting your own personal business can be very beneficial, and starting very small also gives you the advantage of growing big with time. While venturing into any business, it is more advisable to start small because this enables you to really know whether your business is really growing or not. There are so many businesses out there that gives small or retail investors the opportunity to really invest in them and make money, and the list might remain inexhaustible if we begin to mention them one after the other. With the amount of you just mentioned, with $1000 -$1200 you can venture into laundry services, selling of phone accessories, home services like cleaning etc. One can make real money engaging in these businesses instead depending wholly on your salary.
Starting a business is very good a it creates an avenue for learning, having a target audience helps to choose the best place to get a shop for the business. It's important to have passion for the business one is going into because without it, one will feel irritated and tired when presure arise when building the business. There would be lots of criticism when starting a new business mostly when the mind is diverted and there is need to grow and improve into a bigger standard and to serve better.

Thank you.

Are you talking about Gazipur district under Dhaka division of Bangladesh?

If so then Ghazipur is famous for garment industry. So you can do children's clothing business. You can do business by renting a shop and also sell products through Facebook page.

Whatever business you start, try to start online based business because people are getting lazy day by day, they order products sitting at home.

These are truly great ideas. Nowadays, you can get things done without a huge budget the key is simply providing a service that meets people's needs. What matters is spotting those opportunities, effectively marketing your service, and making sure people know you offer it. Some excellent suggestions have been shared for the OP and not just for them plenty of people could pick up great business ideas here.

Could buy gardening equipment, or even take on jobs like painting and repairing home gardens.

I assumed that a lot already have been selling online in your city using those apparel and knitwear stuffs because that's the top category to sell in your area. So why not make a difference and leave a unique impression to your future buyers. Instead, sell some stuffs like vitamins and supplements, baby diapers, sunscreens, or go for temporary tattoos that would impress a lot of men and women.

If you have many variants to sell, at least people will have more reasons to buy from your online shop, not just focus on a single stuff.

I feel that the main error would be to select a business just because other people say that it is profitable. I would start by advertising the product and then rent a shop or purchase quantities of product before spending $1,000-$1200 on it. For instance. Pick 1-2 products. Develop a basic online platform and attempt to get real orders in the area. If the first lot has been a success, keep growing and reinvesting profits. This also minimizes the danger of the bulk of the capital tied up in unsold stock. I do not think he would need to be onsite full time right from the get go with a business that is going to be part-time first. Then expand to a brick-and-mortar operation.
