As for your question, the general public may not be buying Bitcoin but smart people who have access to this forum are continuing to invest. Global threat is FUD, don't worry about that much.

As long as it is not affecting the Bitcoin market, I don't think there's a panic happening yet. Also, we won't see a boost in buyers just because of that. People and investors are much wiser now, and knowing what a FUD or not is easier thanks to Google and AI. Still, if it's going to happen, then it's going to be. It's difficult to talk about something that is not in reality just yet. There will be years of experiments, trial and error, and a lot of tweaking and upgrades before it happens.
So, we can just stick to what is here, and I believe Bitcoin is still the future. Regarding buyers, I think many of them are waiting for an entry point, and they may not have seen it yet.

It is never possible to accurately predict the price of Bitcoin. In the short term Bitcoin price prediction is even more difficult. And it is not right to think that all Bitcoin holders will make profit. After a long time, the price of Bitcoin continues to increase, but the possibility of a decrease is not completely eliminated. So in fact it is not possible to accurately predict what the price of Bitcoin will be in the future.

However if all the factors can be analyzed so far then it is natural for everyone to think that the price of Bitcoin will increase in the long term. And if there is a real negative issue of Quantum Computing in the future, which has the potential to create problems for the security of Bitcoin, then it will have a negative impact on the entire crypto universe. We can't deny Bitcoin's potential, but let's be real, none of that is guaranteed. And profit depends on your capital, your entry price...and you're right, buying BTC doesn't make anyone rich automatically. For example, people who bought BTC at $69k in 2021 is only up around 20% after 5 years, while those who bought below $20k in 2022 are sitting on much bigger gains.

It would be a huge mistake to think that simply investing in Bitcoin and holding it long term will make you rich.

  Don't get me wrong here am not saying that you holding Bitcoin for a long time will guarantee you automatic success in terms of profit. The point that I was trying to make here was the importance of holding your Bitcoin asset , and not only buying and selling when for the sake of profit generation when the price appriciates and is looking good for our favour with respect to our entry price.

As Bitcoin believers it's important that we should think about holding Bitcoin for the long term, because Bitcoin as an investment asset which is volatile. Price correction which affect our investment can only be corrected on the long term basis because, volatility as an effect affects the our investment.

I think Bitcoin has faced plenty of threat in the past, and survived them, and I know this quantum computing won't be the first. I quite understand how this statement made by Vitalik Buterin will keep people thinking considering his contribution in cryptocurrency, but investors should remain courageous because I don't think their is any technology that will come up to destroy Bitcoin. I know quite well that in the past, some persons tried to pull down Bitcoin by calling it trash, and fake digital asset, and even now, some people say it will go down to zero, but listening to some of this news can only make you feel discouraged, and sell your Bitcoin asset, still there are those who will keep their portfolio safe , and still continue in their investment.

In my opinion, Vitalik Buterin is one of the smartest people in the cryptocurrency industry. He knows as much about Bitcoin as any of the Bitcoin Core developers. 🙋

There's a known problem: at a certain level of technological development, it's theoretically possible to calculate private keys given the public keys. This applies to both Ethereum and Bitcoin.

It was previously believed that this threat could only be realized by creating a powerful quantum computer. However, Justin Drake and Vitalik Buterin have conducted research and put forward a new hypothesis. Deriving a private key from a public key doesn't require inventing a new quantum computer. It's entirely possible that a strong artificial intelligence could find another way to do this (without a quantum computer). And this is a very real risk.

We can eliminate this risk with fairly simple steps. We need to use exclusively Native SegWit Bitcoin addresses and (this is very important) generate a new address for each new transaction.  At the same time, Bitcoin is a much more conservative cryptocurrency than Ethereum.
