quit guessing because this particular case tell a lot about the high level of corruption going on and obviously there is more to be discovered.  As I read the story, what interest me more was the fact that it was the local residents that first raided the house because they were suspicious of the kind of activities going on inside, imagine if they had not even summoned such courage to raid the house, this case would have remained unnoticed until date, meanwhile ordinary individuals will keep facing a heavy penalty if they were involved but the people that are supposed to protect the law are the ones making mockery of it.

The logic is why do they let money goes to offshore when they can control it by themselves? There may be thousands of offshore is running in indonesia, though it's muslim country(not racist, but we know muslim country often prohibited gambling in to wun).

When it comes to government or politics I don't seem to believe a large number of things they say because at the end of the day the law makers are usually the law defaulters and then when an ordinary citizen is caught doing same thing government officials are doing they are paraded as criminal and punished severely. That is the same thing happens to the Philippines. Illegal gambling happens in different places, whether it's at a local casino, underground, or someone's residence. They know each other and there's a protector for these operations if they're illegal. And it's an idea for public knowledge that for every operation that we know of, there's always a backer for the people behind these activities.

Here in my country, at best, law enforcers only act against illegal gambling operations if they aren't paying the right amount at the right time. Unfortunately for these operators, however, they shouldn't miss anybody through the ranks. Otherwise, you'd still end up shut down. So, all local units, regional units, and national offices should get their fair share.

But it doesn't end there. After all, law enforcers often take their cue from politicians, both local and national. So, the honorables should also be getting their big slices.

In every facets of society there will be always corruption, or at least some form on if. We even can equate it to politics and then gambling itself. And for some countries, it's evident that the protector of big criminal gangs are the police itself or even high ranking government officials.

So this news is not going to be surprising for the majority of us as we have seen this before and it's just a reply. Every country has it's own corrupt system, and when you think that they are supposedly the first line of defense to this crime, they are not. In fact, they could be the number one protector, it's sad to hear it, but that's the sad reality.

It is almost like saying that laws are made only for the common man, when they default they are severely punished for the crime that they committed meanwhile the high and mighty that are commiting 10x that same crime would go unpunished. Most high-profile crimes comes to the limelight if they step on the toes of fellow influential personalities in their country, even if ordinary citizens hear about it they cannot do anything because their complains will fall on deaf ears. This case in the OP is very ironic, same institution that should be a part of sanitizing illegal gambling are themselves operating it, I hope that the culprits are made to face the full weight of the law because it is a shame on the integrity of their armed forces.

I guess this kind of incidents are quite common now on Asian countries. Media is always be the bestfriend of the government and they will show and say the prevailing news to us that in which narrative are already change from what is the fact. Abuse of power in the Government will always be the number 1 enemy of the people. I wonder, what actually triggered this raid? Was the bribe insufficient? Was it about eliminating competitors? The casino’s location was undoubtedly chosen creatively and was extremely well-hidden; it would have taken a very compelling reason to uncover it.

even though the senior Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) said there would be no tolerance and would take firm action against anyone involved, I consider this case to be the same as a Lion catching a Lion.

Shouldn't that very high command be thoroughly investigated? Even if they were unaware of the casino being set up on their "turf", they ought to be punished regardless for allowing such a thing to happen among their subordinates - after all, it speaks volumes about their competence when leadership doesn't know what their subordinates are up to right under their noses.

The TNI should protect, protect and provide protection for the public from gambling activities, but they themselves are involved in online gambling operations.

It comes down to money. If military personnel aren't paid enough, perhaps their salaries should be raised (to keep them from setting up outside "business projects") and their workload increased so they are fully occupied with their official duties and have no time left for illegal activities. I guess this kind of incidents are quite common now on Asian countries. I'm not even surprised because it is common for those who make the laws to be the same people who break them. This is one of the reasons the world will never be completely fair. They make laws, but those laws often don't apply to the people at the top. They never set a good example of what they expect others to follow..Things like this happen everywhere, even on this forum.  .. I've always said that when governments try to portray gambling as the cause of their problems, it is either because they want to control it for themselves or because they want to benefit from it. Gambling itself is not necessarily the problem; the problem is how players approach it and whether they can control their bTehaviour.

I did see this kind of things in movies where law enforcements are bribed and I do make comparisons to others I have experienced. It turned out the movies we watch were some of this things ar displayed are not fictional, they are experience of one or two people with people that are meant to uphold law are the ones breaking it and if investigation is done thoroughly, this case will be dismissed like nothing happened because of high profiles that might be involved.

The government might want to use the people arrest to show power but will not let the state army involved be put to shame because this is now about national security that is at stake. This is just to say if you are part of the family, you can do crime and get away with it, only people that are not part of the government family that doesn't get away with crime.

I'm not surprised to see the people that are meant to protect the law are the same people actually breaking the law by themselves because this same scenario is very common in my country. Some of us are living in a country where the law is basically made for the poor but not for the rich. I would have said those army officials involved in using Indonesia National Armed Forces (TNI) official residences for gambling instead of deploying strategies that willl strengthen Indonesia Army should be punished according to the ITE Law Number 1 of 2024 Article 27 paragraph 2 so that other will learn but I don't think it could be possibly, because the person that masterminds this idea is probably a hierarchy in Indonesian army and he won't allow his boys to be punished severely.

I think this is not a new story in case of those country who actually banned on gambling. Now, if I talk about my country Bangladesh, then such incidents are seen here too from time to time that even though gambling is strictly prohibited here, there are new like that online casinos were run indirectly through ex-government party stakeholders and even the ex-head of Bangladesh's RAB (Rapid Action Battalion). They conducted all these activities only to launder their illegal money and at the same time to increase it further.

This is why I always consider banning a gambling as a misplaced priority. Whether they like it or not people will find a way to participate in gambling directly or indirectly because it's human nature to diversify unless they willingly lose interest. Drafting an ACT is a waste of time and a way for another set of corrupt people to carry it more evil. That is life for you my brother, those who are making the laws in countries are the ones breaking most of the laws they are making, and nothing will happen to them. It seems that the only people that they are making the law for are they less privileged, but those who are in positions and in high places in the government usually don’t get punished whenever they break the law.

The irony is crazy and wild with this issue. Regular people get punished, probably unfairly for online gambling if suspected or caught, yet somehow we will see an operation like this and ends up running inside a military facility. It really makes you wonder how they operated there without anyone notices wrong.

It is indeed very unfortunate that this is the current state of things in some countries.

Some countries tend to be strict in the enforcement of their anti-gambling laws but it seems like such only applies to regular businesses or people who have no influence or connections in the government. On the other hand, some strict and government establishments have gambling for themselves given that they have the power to enforce such rules and they exclude themselves from such coverage.

Tbh, arresting those people shouldn't be the main point of this. They need to find out who's actually behind this or whether anyone that has more power is involved. No matter the situation it's very wrong to take laws into ones hands and even though we know that the government is an abuser of power in most cases and even if the gamblers files a lawsuit against them they still won't act so long they are benefitting from the platform, instead of causing nuisance on the online gambling headquarters they should have followed due process which is seeking redress in a competent court of jurisdiction.

It's very frustrating and those involved in such act should be arrested and brought to book and I believe some high influence individual are behind that attack, those apprehended will mention those involved and who sent them. Although I don’t subscribe to many superstitions, in this particular instance, I do believe that retribution will catch up with them due to their tainted karma. While this doesn't happen every time, I have frequently observed such outcomes in real life and read about various cases. I am virtually certain that dishonest people who commit vile acts causing suffering to ordinary people will not simply get away with it. These are bad people. Sometimes, it is necessary to punish such individuals in an exemplary manner so that others are deterred and the very thought of repeating such actions never even crosses their minds.

Don't be too naive, we all know who is behind illegal casino sites in Indonesia. There's even information circulating that two high-ranking officials in Indonesia have competing gambling syndicates in Cambodia and surrounding areas. And so many officials and officers make a living off the dirty money from illegal gambling in Indonesia. Just think about it, with a salary of around 500-1000 USD from the government, yet they own luxury cars and fancy houses. If all that wasn't made from illegal activities, it wouldn't be possible. So I'm not surprised by this news because our officials and officers are so morally corrupt, no one can be trusted.
