Though the chances of Bitcoin becoming a stable coin at least in the next 10 years is very slim but on this topic, I think we should begin to have that conversation of why we should sometimes seperate Bitcoin's price performance from it's usefulness. Should bitcoin become permanently stable, so many won't be interested in it again especially the people that invest in it for the purpose of growing their capital.
However, that won't make it useless. There are people that are mostly buying Bitcoin because of its decentralized nature and fixed supply, it will still make sense to them as they'll see it as a better alternative to traditional financial system.

It's called Bitcoin for a reason, not USDT. Bitcoin's value is not pegged to any fiat currency, so I don't see why we should expect it to become stable in that sense. Its price is determined by market demand and supply, and volatility is part of being a market driven asset. The real question people should be asking is why do we want to hold Bitcoin in the first place? Is it because we want to escape the traditional financial system and have greater control over our money, or are we only interested in making profits from the market? And I'm very sure a large population of investors are only focused on the profit making part, which is nothing but the benefits of holding BTC.. When we bring this back to your question, we also need to consider the difference between Bitcoin and centralized stablecoins like USDT. USDT may be useful for maintaining a stable dollar value, but it comes with a different set of risks. Tether can freeze or blacklist addresses holding its tokens, and users depend on the company to issue and redeem them. Even if USDT operates on a decentralized blockchain, the token itself is still controlled by a centralized issuer. Bitcoin is different. No central company can simply freeze your BTC at a particular address. As long as you control your private keys and secure them properly, you can hold your Bitcoin without depending on a company to maintain access to it. Of course, this does not make you immune to theft or losing your keys, but it gives you a level of financial independence that centralized stablecoins cannot offer in the same way. This is why I believe we need to understand what we are buying Bitcoin for. If your only goal is to hold a stable dollar value, then USDT serves that purpose better. But if your goal is to have greater control over your money, avoid depending on a central issuer, and hold an asset with a fixed maximum supply, then Bitcoin offers something fundamentally different...

The fact that holders of bitcoin can get profit from their bitcoin became more popular at the time that bitcoin has already gone mainstream. earlier times, bitcoin enthusiasts got interested in bitcoin because of other things like the fact that cross border payment is easy and seamless through the use of bitcoin coupled with the fact that bitcoin gives you full control over your asset and that is a huge advantage that holders of bitcoin enjoys and that will make them stay with bitcoin even if it has a fixed worth. Bitcoin serves different purposes in the hands of different users. for the one that is in for profit only, a fix price will chase them away but for another that is in for the sake of the decentralized benefit of owning bitcoin, volatility is just a part of bitcoin.

Is it becoming a stablecoin because of wider adoption or you're assuming it becomes a stablecoin of a sudden?
If it's because of the former, I'll see it as different stage of it's development which I don't think will be a reason to totally abandon it. So far Bitcoin maintains it's scarcity, security and decentralization, it'll still be very much a priced asset to keep regardless of it's volatility.
But if you're assuming that it happens all of a sudden l, I'll try to find out what caused the stability and if the reasons aren't convincing enough for me to still hold it, I'll significantly reduce my holding to access if it'll be worth buying again.

What has attracted most people to bitcoin is the potential to make profit from investing, that is buying and hodling, when this profit opportunity is no longer there, it changes how many people will perceive bitcoin. If the profit making opportunity from Bitcoin is no longer there it will be hard to convince some people to keep buying it to hold because they would want to really understand why they are buying especially when usage of it as a currency is not yet a thing. The potential for profit is what makes bitcoin most attractive at the moment, not the ability for it to be used as currency.

People who buy bitcoin for long term take that action as investment, and what do you think the purpose of an investment is? There is no need to buy bitcoin and hold for long term when it does not have any appreciation in value within that period, same example as buying a land and holding for years without any appreciation. Investment should cone with value, I could only buy bitcoin and use as day-to-day transactions means depending on its decentralization in my country, but not buying and holding for long term.

If it were not profitable, we would have no reason to invest in Bitcoin. Because of the decentralized benefits, we would buy some Bitcoin when needed and trade with it. Since it is a stablecoin, we would not get any profit from holding it for the long term or accumulating a lot of Bitcoin. So then we would probably find alternative assets that can give us profit. Can provide comparative security and can provide privacy. But it is not understandable why you are asking such a question? It makes no sense to compare Bitcoin with stablecoins. Of course there are differences between crypto and fiat coins, maybe the stablecoin market would have been relatively less popular then. Because in the same type of coin, we are getting more benefits in Bitcoin.

Yes (why not save some for future payments), but I will be actively using it to pay for my transaction. If the bitcoin price is like stablecoins, there is nothing preventing me from holding it, we see people saving fiat currency for the next generation, why not do it with Bitcoin? The change of motive here is obvious, but people, including me, will still hold BTC, not as an investment but as a savings..

The majority of us have known Bitcoin as a volatile asset, turning around to have it as a stable coin is what will be hard to comprehend for many of us because we have long thought of Bitcoin as what will give us financial freedom, not what hodling it for long won't bring any future ROI. People just switch to other investment if that happens

Do you know there are stablecoins in the market, but people still chose Bitcoin because they know that Bitcoin is a decentralized currency that is not control like stablecoins. I will not lie to you, I will not being holding Bitcoin because it will not profit me like decentralized since government will be the one controlling the rising and falling of the price of the Bitcoin if it turn to stablecoin.

How does it make any sense for anyone to buy and hold an asset for the next generation if it doesn't grow in value or is just like stable coins? Because people currently buy and hold volatile cryptocurrencies, mainly Bitcoin, because they know that its value isn't stagnant and in the future, their assets are going to be worth more, which is the main motive behind buying and holding. If it's like stable coins, and if its price is pegged to a fiat currency like how stable coins have their prices pegged to US Dollar, mostly, then there is no point in it. One could argue that people might buy and hold as savings for the future, but that also wouldn't make any sense if the price is pegged to USD, because devaluation of USD will also make their assets in crypto lose value over time, and they will have the same purchasing power as the USD in the future because 1 Bitcoin will be worth 1 USD, for example. The only reason one could hold it even if its price was stable would be its decentralization, but again, I don't think it could have been decentralized if it had its price pegged to USD or any other fiat currency.

Not sure if I will be so interested, Isn't it clear why institutions, governments, and every investor are investing in Bitcoin? It is because of the profits after a whole period of investment. Generating profits has always been the motivation for many adopters. If Bitcoin had a stable value, there would be no benefit in holding for the long term, investors are here because of profits, that's the main reason. Exactly. We are all here in numbers because of the appreciating power. If it were to be a stable coin and is not appreciating, then the numbers may not be as high as that. Maybe, few still hold just for a hedge against inflation. Imagine HODLing BTC for circles, maybe 2-3-4 or even more, and returning after so many years and still getting the same amount. What for? Maybe, it would have just been better that you placed it on fixed deposit in a local bank and get some little profits.. The long term value is a major reason for HODLing.

I don’t think there’s any scenario in which Bitcoin’s price could stabilize like a stablecoin. And you should present your argument about what scenario could make that happen. Bitcoin’s scarcity driven by halving events and its limited supply, where makes it highly likely that its price will rise. But I don’t know exactly what will happen once the series of halving events is truly complete. I see it this way: if we can acknowledge that the price of gold is steady, you can see how bitcoin could eventually get there. Because of the current state of the bitcoin network (POW, halving, scarcity, etc.), it is actually a little challenging to understand. However, anyone with a basic understanding of economics would understand that the law of supply and demand governs bitcoin just like it does with any other product on the market. In the future, supply and demand will alternate at the same level and continue to fluctuate as the two variables change. But for now, the btc price will continue to increase until then.

Haha bro, why do you want to know? What conclusions are you chasing from the answers when you already know most of us won't even step into it if we don't see any benefit in it, whether monetary or freedom-related, as they say haha. Why do you want to know? If it turns out to be a decentralized stablecoin and not backed by anything, then its adoption would still be high, especially among the countries that support dedollarization. It could even get to this point, but then it would be against the US dollar, and you know that if anything is against it, they can't tolerate it, and there will be retaliation and consequences, bro haha. The rest you know.

Some people are involved in Bitcoin solely because of its decentralized nature. They just want to enjoy privacy and freedom that Bitcoin offers. Nevertheless, the majority of the people who are holding the coin are interested in profit-making. An example of this fact is the attention Bitcoin gets during the bull market. The number of people who would be hodling Bitcoin will drop if the price becomes stable. In developing nations, Bitcoin is appreciated because it is seen as a means to get an alternative source of income. Its price stability will discourage people from accumulating.

Let's assume that the value of Bitcoin is like a stablecoin, I would still hold it. You see, not everyone has a reliable currency. Some people live in countries where the local currency is constantly losing value, whether due to inflation, etc. Holding Bitcoin even if its value is like that is still a better option for me who has a currency that is not strong, even though in the long term its value will also decrease, but if it is compared to my local currency which is losing its value at an even faster rate, Bitcoin might still be a better way to preserve my wealth.

I think people from my country will still buy and keep bitcoin it even if the price doesn’t increase or decrease. Just because of the decentralized nature and having your money to yourself is something people will always want. Even now people buy stable coin and use it as savings instead of keeping my country’s naira so I guess it will just be like that. When it’s not longer volatile people will not just consider it as an asset or investment again, it will just be more of saving in a stronger currency than the naira we have in my country. Because my country good sometime depends dollar rate so it’s better to save in dollars since the naira loses value quickly.

Bitcoin is not only just a speculative assets, but also a currency that we can use for cross border transactions, we have seen how some people are simply buying Bitcoin just because they want to make some quick payments and on a decentralized network, so is not all about the profits expectations of investors that make Bitcoin interesting, even if Bitcoin price become stable like that of stable coins like USDT which won't happen since Bitcoin is develop on market volitility that comes from Bitcoin Price speculations,.

I would hold Bitcoin to the grave for my family, yes. Fortunately there is not much chance Bitcoin becomes like a stablecoin any time soon though. The fixed supply of 21M makes it very different to stablecoins which can be created at will. Bitcoin is still affected by supply constraint when we have a block reward halving. Bitcoin will continue to be volatile for the foreseeable future.
Mate, whatever you are saying, there is no doubt that you are accurate at this point. OP is creating a situation where we have to assume that Bitcoin has become a stablecoin. Which is no doubt not possible. But let's just assume it for this time only, haha. In this case, I would still go for holding Bitcoin rather than holding any other stablecoin like USDT, or USDC. These coins are backed by fiat currencies, and they are centralized stablecoins, if I am not wrong here. What if someday the companies behind these stablecoins go bankrupt or face any other legal issue? In such a case, they have to discontinue their supply in the market. And then the chances are higher that these stablecoins will be worth nothing at that point. This is why I believe that Bitcoin is still a way better option for us, as it is decentralized digital gold that escapes all traditional systems. Also, the reality is that it was created with an intention, which makes it contrary to the traditional banking system. And those who really understand the technology of Bitcoin will never like the traditional finance system and will never hold their earnings in fiat for the long term due to many factors. CMIIW!

The price is actually already fixed... 1 BTC = 1 BTC.🙋 We're just used to defining the value of all financial assets in fiat currencies. However, Bitcoin has value in itself. If, for example, I want to buy a good VPN, I can pay for it with Bitcoin. Thus, in some life situations, Bitcoin serves not only as a financial instrument for savings but also as a means of payment. And it fulfills this function very well. I don't think the price of Bitcoin will remain stable against fiat currencies for very long (over several generations, as you write). The price of Bitcoin will either fall to zero or continue to rise. There is no middle ground. Bitcoin is a deflationary currency. The supply of coins is limited. Users periodically lose access to their private keys. Every four years, there is a halving (the cost of mining doubles). Bitcoin will never become a stablecoin. 🧖
