Electricity replacing oil in 3 to 4 years is too short. We can say that electricity will take a larger share of the market, but I do not think that batteries that can travel a longer distance that can compete with diesel or gasoline powered vehicle will be invented or made available to the public for cheaper price.
So I think electricity will dominate a portion of the industry, while oil will still be used on the other portion of the industry. After all, the weakness of electricity today is how to store electricity for longer travel times.

Each new day I see more and more electric cars on the streets, mainly the ones who are destined to be used by Uber drivers. The change is real and noticiable in daily life. The tendency is that it continues like this along the next 3 or 4 years, unless batteries get too expensive or don't last long enough as expected.
I was watching an Al Jazeera programme this morning. It was a programme on the oil crisis, the effect of the war in Ukraine and Iran, and its effect on economies. The man being interviewed said that about 5 years ago, only 5% of all cars sold were electric vehicles, but today, he said over 20% of cars sold are electric vehicles, and this year alone, the number has spiked. I think this will continue to increase as time goes on. It's only in underdeveloped countries that don't have steady electricity that electric vehicles are not very popular. Within the next decades, many more people will switch to electric vehicles, especially people who use them to work for money. It's draining when you have to spend so much on petrol or diesel with inflation increaing so muc.

Whether oil price still maintain it's relevant or not, or electrical compliance is more relevant than oil and gas powered products or not. What matters is civilization. The purpose of life is civilization, bringing newly developed products solving a problem that once looks stressful.
Electrical vehicle is a newly civilized product that beats the old oil based power, in so many reasons other than saving costs. In terms of clean operation, maintenance and easy to go usage.
Old oil litters the body of a vehicle making it looking dirty all the time, so many reasons to make but electrical beats it and brings about civilization.

What motorbike is this? How long are your travels, how many kilometers do you usually do? Because with my newly purchased motorbike, despite the gasoline price having increased, I've used it for 2 months and only filled it up twice. Each fill-up only costs around $5 so, it has only cost me $10. And this is with the expensive gasoline we have because before the war happened, the cost of 1 liter per gasoline only less than a dollar. Now the cost has jumped more than 60%. Before buying it, I was considering a honda electric bike but it's out of my budget and that's why I still chose the gasoline one and it didn't disappoint me so far for now.
10 dollars for two months unbelievable.. how could someone travel for two months with gasoline of 10 dollars. May be you travel 4-5 kilometers per day and that is why your fuel expenses are that much less. Yes, I only travel around in my community and that's not a lot of kilometers that I consume, although that's still a daily commute. When I go to the grocery, when there are errands that I need to run I hit my motorcycle and use it. It's still new and my observation with its 4+ liters tank is that it's consuming 1 liter per week with all of those things that I do. This is also the advantage when the motor is brand new. I have a Honda bike since I came to know how to operate it. Recently I bought a new one that give mileage of about 75 kilometers per litre but the place where I work is about 25 kilometers from my place of residence. Multiply it by two is equal to 50 km.. And I don't drive it just to my work place but for buying groceries and other basic needs. Sometimes roaming with my friends.
Sometimes it costs 3-4 dollars a day and sometime a few cents , depends.
How much is the fuel there? because here in my country it's around Php87 and that's around $1.38 per liter, I use unleaded. To be frank with the consumption of your bike, that 75KM/liter is thrifty and worth it.

I have a motor bike that costs approximately 30-50 dollars a month depends on the destination. While a friend of mine has a chargeable bike since 6 years and he has covered more than 100 thousand kilometers till now and has saved about 2500 dollars, that is actually too much for a middle class person.
Electric vehicles are still expensive in my country, so just the high income earner are able to afford it, but electric bike is becoming so rampant in my country, because everyone is able to get that. Fuel price in my country keeps on increasing, and there is no sign that the price is going to drop, most people are now switching to solar, and electric bikes. All what you need is for you to recharge your bike, and you can start using it, the cost of maintenance is low, and you will be spending no amount of money on fuel again. Do you think electricity can replace oil in the next 3-4 years or a decade?
You should know that electricity cant replace oil. Solar adoption is increasing, because some rural areas with poor electricity no longer buy generators for their personal use, they now go for solar energy, because when u make use of generator, you going to spend on fuel, and the noise which it produces is just kind of annoying, but electricity can’t completely replace fuel.

Electric cars has been available for a long time now, no doubt such machine is rare due to the cost and expenses that comes with maintaining electric machines. Oil price is not helping matters reason why Electric machines is seen as an alternative meanwhile not everyone can afford Electric machine, the cost is far more higher than normal machines but, better and more preferable. New innovations might likely take over though not fully because most of these low income countries don’t value high level of technology as a result of poor economy structure, while development will take time I’m certain not everyone will buy the idea of owning electric car.

I am just thinking of replacing my bike to electric as well.
I never think to replace my bike or car with electric ones. Honestly, I think it is more safety to use my old bike than electric bike. Besides the battery won't last a long time and it must be changed, the electric bike is almost silent when we ride it. This has caused some accidents in my area because people aren't aware it. I'm quite scared to ride it because of this reason. Do you think electricity can replace oil in the next 3-4 years or a decade?
I don't think so. The electric vehicles will only add more kinds of vehicle options. We must be honest that there are some weaknesses of the electric vehicles, too. So, some people will keep using the old vehicles with gasoline fuel. Specifically the people who live in villages or rural areas, they will prefer to vehicles with gasoline fuel because it is more suitable with them.

I don't know about 3 -4 years from now but certainly over the decade I do believe that electricity will replace oil maybe not entirely but for majority the public, I think they will switch to electricity. Even in my country as a trend I'm seeing alot of persons switch to solar, even local shops and businesses in my area, they now use solar to power their business and doing this I think will motivate alot of vehicle users overtime to make the switch. The price of fuel is another motivating factor that makes me beloved in the coming decade so long as production of electric vehicles are functional, alot of persons will make terrible switch and I have been seeing some electric bikes off late so for sure, in like a decade or 2, electricity will replace oil.

I believe what you wanted to ask is that will renewable energy replace conventional energy some day? Well I will say partially. Meaning that it can not totally eliminate conventional energy but more of renewable energy will be used to save cost and also reduce noise and environmental pollution and hazard it would have caused to humanity. Many people I know that usually patronize conventional energy like fuel generator now prefer Solar energy because they no longer have to buy fuel everyday and they are Also free from noise and environmental pollution. Even almost all street lights on itself automatically emidiately it's 7:00pm thia is how renewable energy has save Alot of stress for us today. Big factories or some vehicle will still need conventional energy to operate since it's a heavy duty engine. So renewable energy is the best nowadays.

The transition of a large part of the transport sector to electricity will inevitably take place in the coming years. Especially in warmer countries. Oil will retain its importance only in the form of kerosene for aviation (turbojet engines) and fuel oil for maritime transport. Although most likely, internal combustion engines will retain their importance for cold regions.

With the emergence of electric vehicles a few years ago, many really have transitioned from using a standard vehicle to the electrical one, and there are some who also said in the past that there will be a time where EVs will take over the transportation industry, and with how high the gas prices are, it seems like we're heading there already. I'm not saying though that the vehicles right now that are using Oil will vanish, but what I would say is that there will be people who would just sell their old vehicle and will just buy an electrical vehicle. Right now, the problem that I'm seeing with EVs is that, I don't know if they can pass through those steep roads because here in our area, EVs still can't pass. If you're living on a city where it's just a straight road without any ups and downs the having an EV is right now a must if you will ask me, but aside from that, many will just prefer using the standard one. At the end of the day, there will be people who will change their vehicles, and there will be some who will just continue to use the old one because they feel comfortable using it. I've seen some EVs as well where they're putting a Solar Panel on the top of their vehicle so that it would also be charged through the sun. That's more efficient if you will ask me.

It would be easier for rich countries that has high temperature to shift away from fossil fuel. Solar energy performs better in hotter locations and it is also expensive to procure. In this case poor households might keep using fossil fuel while those who can afford it diversify to renewable energy. As regards to when most people will abolish the used of fossil fuels, it would take a long time. Even some developing nations that were champions of renewable or green energy have began to revert back to coal, oil, or natural gas. Coal that is considered to be a highly environmental unfriendly fuel is now becoming popular as coal power generating plants are being revamped for operations.

Electricity is already taken over, the developed countries the cars they are using are mostly electric cars, which means most of them don’t use fuel anymore and what they use for cooking is electric stove and not gas anymore, so you can see that electricity is already taken over. You said electricity cannot be stored for a longer period and you made mention of batteries. One thing I want you to understand is that knowledge and technology increases every day, believe me if they put more attention on those batteries they can create the ones that can last for a very long time. I agree that 3 to 4 years is too short and I also agreed that there will be some industry who is still use oil even though electricity takes over

Even ten years from now, there will be more oil-powered vehicles than electric vehicles. Those who can afford to buy one will definitely get one for themselves, but someone who can afford to get an electric vehicle will also have another vehicle that runs on fuel. I also want to ask whether you pay for electricity and whether electricity is cheap in your country. If not for the bad economy in my country, fuel would be cheap, allowing every device to be easily powered by it. Both sides will keep existing, because today we have solar power and it's been around for many years already, why are people still using grid power then? The whole world should have cancelled grid power and go all power from the sun. Let's say America has all the energy available, in my country which is a developing country the grid power hardly stables, yet many homes relies on grid power, some places only use 5 hours of electricity per day. Solar power is there to solve it but people don't care, some people are still buying power generators too, so it's all about affordability and choices, all these techs will exists for people's consumption, they won't kill one for one.

I don't think I can hop into this conversation, we don't have stable electricity to even say I want to buy an electric bike that I can use instead of gas bike. The current situation of electricity in Nigeria isn't thag great but my location is not worse, we do see light for an average of 15 hours a day, that's fair if there is no thunderstorm when it rains or if there is no emergency. But the main problem is even the real Bike that can give you long kilometer. We have people that can afford electric bike here and most of them are yet to get them simply because of quality brands. The brands that are available here are fake brands. I'm not sure if they are even the popular brands, their batteries don't last. I saw a man dragging his bike on road after the battery run down when he went out. If you decide to import a brand that is reliable, the cost of shipping it to the country will discourage you. Everything about my country suck.

With time EV will replace some segment of transport on the road, but EV is not going to stop people using oil. Besides transport, oil is used in many other sectors. Fabrics, plastic, medicine, cosmetics, chemistry, for heating. If someone think that replacing all the transport with EV will make people stop extracting oil, or oil price will go down, then that person is wrong. You can not also imagine how much it will cost to invent various types of electric engines for different purpose, then invent cars that will run on them, make it safe, not to mention try to make it all as "green energy". 3-4 years wont be enough for that.

It seems so nice when you imagine how people with electric cars can save on expenses.. Until you find out how much it costs to replace the car battery, and since you mentioned solar panels, the cost to set that up will also make you scratch your head.. I have a neighbor who owns an electric car, and he’s so stressed because he has to replace his car battery which is equivalent to 80% of the car’s price.. He's even planning to sell the car at a loss and switch to a gasoline car because it’s more affordable..
So for people who want to plan to buy an electric car, they need to think about this because even though it seems economical at the beginning, but when the car battery is problematic, it's better to sell the car directly than to replace the battery.

If this trend continues and oil prices remain high for an extended period, a mass shift to electric vehicles will become a necessity.
I know people who are already considering this and planning to switch cars.
Just a fun fact: did you know that electric vehicles make up over 30% of the traffic in China? Can you imagine just how many people that represents?

Oil prices are going up earlier and currently as well. People usually prefer chargeable vehicles now a days and many have it now , the environment and the trends are changing. And as a whole it seems that electric vehicles has an advantage, because a middle man can afford to have solar panels and later on the electricity for a day at least. Charging it for an hour or two could provide quite enough of ride. The price of oil will increase with time because inflation is taking cover of the world day after day and month after month and this year was too much.
I have a motor bike that costs approximately 30-50 dollars a month depends on the destination. While a friend of mine has a chargeable bike since 6 years and he has covered more than 100 thousand kilometers till now and has saved about 2500 dollars, that is actually too much for a middle class person. He just changes battery after a year or two and the rest is saved. I am just thinking of replacing my bike to electric as well.

It is almost as if it is engineered to happen this way. These billionaires and rich bankers are doing just too much to control the world and enforce mass surveillance gradually. I will not be boggled if such happens. Elon Musk is ready to make a lot of profits from all the sales he has already programmed up in his head. Not just him, but also other billionaires donors who helped bring Donald Trump in power. With all the necessary global oil supplying route blocked and Ukraine hitting Russian refineries, there's a massive drop in the global supply and it has affected the world in so many ways. I can not specify how soon, but then, these schemes are all in place to carry out their plans. So yeah, it could take sometime, it will happen. My advice, adapt or defy.

Wondering what kind of electric car owned by your neighbor as for me it does not make sense if the cost of replacing the battery reach 80% of actual car prize, did your neighbor bought a secondhand car so he counts the battery from the cost he spent to buy the secondhand car? As long as I know, most battery replacement on electric car usually start from 30-60% of the actual car prize but I have to agree that this is the main thing to consider when we are planning to buy an electric car. By the way, it is still in the beginning stage of electric vehicle, that's why the battery prize can be considered as expensive but I think it will be cheaper from time to time because competition among manufactures, new technology of battery with cheaper cost or maybe the possibility of battery recycling.
