Tx.Taxi an alternative to Mempool.space

I was going through a discussion on the forum   Is mempool.space down? I can't access the site and came across this vital information I need to pass across to us, some might have been used to this already while it's could actually be the first time some members may be hearing of this.

Just as the title suggest, we don't have to depend fully on https://mempool.space/ any longer, we can alternatively use https://tx.taxi/ and this can be what we can have in serving the same purpose as mempool.

I got to discover this as of earlier said on the service discussion board when a member couldn't access mempool.space and this was suggested to be used, I think he's region (country) was not going through as at that time, while an alternative site was recommended, in case anyone may also face future challenges from using mempool.space, you can as well consider tx.taxi alternatively.

I have repeatedly experience same situation with https://mempool.space/ for quite some time now, it’s a reoccurring problem but usually when it happens I do use VPN to actually access the site. To be more specific I prefer to use VPN most of the time while accessing block explorer sites or even when making bitcoin transactions while connected to public nodes this is my preferred method for privacy, with this I don’t get to expose my IP or get it attached to the transaction ID i check, with all this new explorers I do think it’s important to do it too because you don’t know what happens at the backend of this sites.

https://mempool.space/ is almost unusable on my devices since some time ago. Even if I use VPN, it is not working. Also if I switch the VPN to another location, it is not working. But I am not using the site like before since many months ago. I am using https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#BTC,24h,weight which I have also posted about on this board.

Thanks, guys, for the heads-up; you made some interesting recommendations, which will definitely serve as an alternative to using mempool, and I can see we already have more than two options to rely on in case we have been failed by using mempool. space, I'm still surprised why they have been this awkward with their service now, unlike before.

Mempool.space is just a site that has mempool but it has other functions like knowing information about miners statistics and it has information about bitcoin blockchain. All other sites can also be regarded as mempool so called it mempool.space instead.

I see your point and to add, the mempool is general term known fully as memory pool for transactions. Generally for me I like to call other sites apart from mempool.sapce as blockchain explorer site and then call mempool.space as mempool even when I know the specific should be there but I guess you understand what I mean.

I have discovered that access to mempool.space has not been working for sometime though and I am more frequently using blockchair.com for all dealing with transactions on the blockchain so I think am covered, although will try  to use the NotATether mempool recommended.

I’ve never experienced this kinda situation before where mempool.space refused to work on my device.  I do know of other blockchain explorers though but I haven’t used any of these alternatives since mempool.space always seems to work well over here.

It is actually a good endeavor to bring this information here, atleast I learnt two more of these alternatives..

Which network are you using? Are you living in Nigeria?

Since I have been using MTN to access https://mempool.space/, I have always been unable to access the site. But I am using Starlink to access the site when I saw your post just now and it took just less than 5 seconds and the site loaded which is very fast and good.

I switched to another browser and tried it on my MTN again and it is not loading but loading fast on Starlink.

Mempool.space is a very heavy site, you've got to have better Internet connection to access it I guess. When I had access to starlinks, I was using it without issues, I tried to use it a couple of times with local ISP without success, so I gave up and settled for blockchair and it serves same purpose very well and at a faster speed. I don't know if mempool.space is actively maintained by devs. The site is too heavy for modern standard of lightweight and optimized sites that brings about a good UX.

Thank you Karl_3000 I guess that was just a mistake that that has to do with typo error by omission of the space that should follow the dot, but thanks anyway for the correction and I appreciate that.

I think tx.taxi should consume more bandwidth since it cut across more blockchains as compared to mempool.space which is primarily focused on Bitcoin. Currently I am accesses both with starlink and its quite fast in loading I haven't tried the regular network. BlockChair is more simplified and easy to use as it works like a search engine for crypto assets  it simplifies casual cross-chain searches.

So probably the site load when the network speed is high or something and that is why your MTN doesn’t seem to work well for the site but starlink does.

I used mempool.space today on my device and it works perfectly and I didn’t even use VPN to access it, I don’t know why it doesn’t work over there but nah the same Nigeria I dey with una, so it’s still working in some part of the country.

Surprisingly when I was typing this reply I decided to check it out whether it would work, but it didn’t work for the first time on my device though I’m currently in a different location from where I usually access  the website. So I guess it works in some part of the country maybe depending on network speed or something else.

I am using 2 MTN 5G with a year subscription, I expected at least 1000 mbps of network speed, I only saw less than 5 to 10 mpbs daily. This has been how MTN as been scamming many people in Nigeria.

I also have MTN router with bad network also.

I later have to buy Starlink. It is giving me 50 to 150 mpbs on average, but it has not gone lower than 20 mpbs but it has gone more than 200 mbps. I have not mount it on the roof but it is on the balcony with approximately 50% obstruction. The network is very good than how MTN has been scamming me since a long time ago.

I stream YouTube easily now and my work everywhere and on the forum has been very smooth.

We have known what actually happened. https://mempool.space/ need good network speed to load.
