This guy keeps flexing, look at this tweet... I think this is already the target of the robbers and know his location.
[1] https://x.com/rrealist/status/2043438459625369765
---
Criminals are evolving, and that includes these robbers. They're being sophisticated, using different tools to know the exact location of their target.

We've said it a million times already. If there's an opportunity for us to be silent, let's be silent for f*ck's sake. Bragging online will not benefit you at all. Flexing your assets online will not make you more famous... or you might be famous for those criminals and because of that, they'll make you their primary target hence, what happened to what OP has shared. I feel bad for the one who wrote that tweet, and it's good that he didn't get injured at all, but this will give a long-term trauma to him and worse, that might stay FOREVER.

As somebody who's involved into crypto, TBH I have this feeling as well that what if there's somebody out there following me already and planning an attack. Fortunately, I didn't share any of my assets to anybody in my are, but what if? I guess I'm just getting anxious because of what's happening worldwide. My bad.

I don't believe this is just a random rubbery, Gozie51 if you read the victim message you will discover that he stated it clearly that the rubbers came straight for his cryptocurrency and have to make multiple transfers from main wallets and ledger wallet as he said.

They must have worked with information and long time planning before the attacks, wether we like it or not whenever there is this kind of cryptocurrency rubbery we have to deal with the insider information leaked.

So we still come down to the issues with privacy.
This rubbery looks like a well prepared rubbery, they came prepared based on information they have and they have prepared well with perfect timing to get everything they wanted and from the message from the victim, he explained that they forced him to send out from his main wallet; this means they have good details about him and knows what he worth. It can be an information from someone very close who knows everything about him and how much he worth, and he can call that person as a friend because this is too close to him I must say.

This is a good example of how most of us who open up to everyone will end up. We will think that we are trying to impress others just to encourage them to invest in Bitcoin, but some people will just have evil mind to get rid of all you have because they are jealous. We need to keep our savings to ourselves to avoid bad friends that will set us up.

User might be trying to get attention and even then the topic might be true, still I dont believe this story to be completely true.

I do support the concept that one should not reveal their holdings or give any hint about their crypto they posses while they are online because someone might be out there with some idea about the person and hence become a victim to their attack.

While I abhor social media and influencers, I suggest people to take this concept seriously and not to take the victims stories for granted.

I feel bad for that person but when someone invests in cryptocurrencies then he/she should do it privately so others who can do bad things won’t know anything about such investments.

The incident that happened with that person seems like a pre planned one. The robbers might know that person personally and he might have shared his cryptocurrency investment information with those people.

As a cryptocurrency trader and investor one should keep such things private. Telling anyone about such investments can be harmful. That's why it is important to have the highest privacy as a cryptocurrency investor/trader to be on the safe end.

This is one of the reasons why I always feel that some people posing themselves on social media as traders might not really be traders, they only live fake live and the robbers knows too that's why they don't go after them, if this case is true, then the robbers have been targeting him for some times and they already knows that he is legit and that they can get some money out from him. I guess there are other traders in UK but how many times have they been attacked? Some of them are maintaining a low profile because they know the amount of money they are controlling as traders but some people will just come online to give off information about themselves, making themselves easy target for robbers meanwhile there are people making more money than then still in same career but they decided to stand low because of incidents like this.

A crypto trader from the UK experience a crypto robbery and detailed the events of the incident.

If you live in the uk and do crypto get the fuck out

just got my house invaded, taped up held at knife point & robbed for $800k

in so much shock i dont know what the fuck to do, fuck this country. No this is not satire, i fucking wish it was.
The solution is not leaving the UK, wrench attack can happen anywhere.  Keeping your mouth shut, living life modestly, and hoping that centralized platforms don't give out your details might be helpful.

User might be trying to get attention and even then the topic might be true, still I dont believe this story to be completely true.
You might not believe it until it happens to someone you know. But you have to believe it because wrench attack is becoming common. It has been reported in France, UK, Canada, Spain and other countries. Maybe you would believe this one that was reported by a well-known news outlet, the BBC.

This is a reminder of the Wrench attack issue in the past to all users influencers or not to keep a lowkey status about your crypto assets
It's sad that these crypto influencers have publicly displayed their lives and does it for a living. If someone is in that situation right now, think of it if it's worth it.

You get to be famous and earn a lot from contents but, at what expense? we hate these criminals who are speculating everyone who's not low profile.

They can attack anybody but if they have no idea what people does inside their house and what wealth they have, they'll skip those who remains low key.

I mean, he already shared a bit of information about where he lives from the pictures he posted on his social media accounts. That's just one way to invite criminals to come to his place. But I think that's just one of the risks of being a crypto influencer when you show off your assets too much, and then you just become a target for criminals. He's just got a valuable lesson on how precious privacy really is.

So many people make the same mistake of not keeping enough privacy about their life and financial situation even after so many incidents that has happened around the world. A group of robbers won't just break into any house randomly to try and see if they have cryptocurrencies on them, which proves that they do this with proper planning and enough detail about those who they attack, and this can't be possible without the person himself revealing everything to the general public either through social media or some other way. You don't need to vocal about what you are doing in life and how successful of a trader you are, if you try to show off to the world on social media, remember, you are allowing them to know you and everything about you.

One more thing that can possibly make such attacks possible is data breaches from hardware wallet sellers and such, and we know that such things have been happening in the industry lately. If a group of people manage to find the details of people who bought hardware wallets, including their home addresses, this is a very big risk because they can do anything. This is the reason why data breaches are very dangerous in general because your information could get into evil hands and they will surely misuse it.

It's going to be difficult to prove that this customer was attacked because their data was exposed in the Revolut's data breach, but that is the suspicion right now. But if there is a sudden increase in the number of $5 wrench attacks in the U.K. in the coming months, then all fingers would point at Revolut and they might be in trouble through a class action.

Personal data of around 680 people is currently in the hands of dangerous people and it is all the fault of Revolut, surely there has to be consequences for them if more people continue to suffer losses like this, either through physical attacks or phishing.
Yes theres a lot of angle to this story how the guy got rob by the attackers. Will definitely wait for the official results of the investigations conducted by the authority. Surely there will be some findings to this incident.

It's sad that these crypto influencers have publicly displayed their lives and does it for a living. If someone is in that situation right now, think of it if it's worth it.

Ive known a lot of crypto influencers who keeps their identity intact and secretive. Theres no point to link your personal identity and your crypto life. This guy must be like of someone who are boastful to flex his personal gains on web3.

That means the criminals were well aware that the victim was holding a large amount of funds in crypto that could be easily transferred. It doesn’t matter where he lives, either in the UK or any other country; the fact is he hasn’t protected his privacy about his crypto. Someone from the nearest friend or known person would be involved in this robbery.

That’s why I have been very careful to share about crypto. Even share with someone, but don’t share about your holdings, how much you have in your wallet, or where you kept them. This isn’t risk only for crypto; it's also risk for life as well. We just need to take a lesson from this story and be very careful.

This one, when our data are leaked and get into the hands of criminals, we really don't know what they are going to do with it. But with crypto, it's no longer that phishing attempts or social engineering attack. To make it more easier for them, they will go and physically attacks us.

So there is two sets of criminals that we have right now,

a. online hackers
b. physical attacks

Both are dangerous specially the 5 dollar wrench attack as it might end bad for us.

What i can consider about wrench attacks of this nature particularly when it has to do with house invasion is that it not most times done by actual poor people. if investigations goes on successful about this very attack and dots connected rightly, the victim would be amazed to know the masterminds of that attack on him. Still important to note that no where is save, certainly not even any country i can think of right now. you  want to stay safe is by keeping your bitcoins wallet ownership secret to yourself, be private about your funds and assets. No one would attack an individual who hasn't given them financial reasons to attack them.

Regardless of the country the person is, if he does not have privacy, the person can be invaded or attacked just to forcibly receive crypto from him.

People should not use privacy to play anymore. This kind of news are no more new at all and I think attackers attacking people to steal their crypto from them will become more common happening.

I was wondering how and what led to this but the victim confirmed in the X thread that he banks with Revolut and their data was allegedly for sale. It was obvious there was a data breach and the attacker somehow got the information of how well he's doing before paying him a visit. Submitting KYC documents is not a problem but how the companies are mishandling the documents putting people's live at risk is becoming a big problem. If they have access to your phone, they'll know whether you're into crypto or not and then force you to sign the transaction. However, the victim is an online influencer showcasing his trades and profit, that's enough to make him a target even without data breach.

Another challenge is when exchanges give out users' personal data to these bad actors. So you can be very careful about keeping your crypto secret. But if you are using centralized platforms, there are high chances that your data might be leaked if there is a hack. Corrupt staff can even sell customers' data to criminals. Therefore, avoiding centralized exchanges or other crypto service providers is an important security measure.

In my own case, only a few people know that I am knowledgeable about cryptocurrencies. But none of them know how much I own. Avoiding showcasing anything crypto on the internet is essential. Some of the people who suffered an attack flaunted their crypto wealth online

It seems that such stories have become commonplace. Everyone who is associated with cryptocurrencies, in addition to becoming their own bank, must learn to be humble and not show or tell anywhere that they own something. Bragging rights will always be present among people, especially at a young age, and it is a pity when some innocent joke about their crypto assets ends in an attack and injury to a person. We need to learn not only to be careful with storage but also to be careful with what we say and where we say it.

People really need to learn a lot from these kinds of scenarios, the time when people were flaunting their crypto portfolios to attract others to invest or those influencers using this as a method to attract people to register using their links. I think it should be in the past because of the kind of world we're living in today, and privacy is a critical thing to neglect. Influencers can do all these without actually exposing how much you have because you never know the bad guy who's living very close to you.

Learning in the hard way. But this kind of rubbery still happens in the UK today? Where were the security men when these guys were operating?

However, the victim is an online influencer showcasing his trades and profit, that's enough to make him a target even without data breach.

With a data leak from a company like Revolut might give out criminals your record like your home address but also the flexing of your profit on social space gives that passion to visit it.

For a robber pointing a knife at you inside your own house, how secure your hardware wallet is, it no longer matters. Keeping low profile is the best security strategy in crypto. In a situation were you will want to talk about your wins and trade online you should do yourself well by using an anonymous account and link it to your real name or even location.

I am sorry for this influencer for what happened to him but he doesn’t look like one that will stop this even after the wrench attack on him. That’s where he earns a living from and from his page, he’s really having lots of followers that are following him and making some bucks from there.

Wrench attack will always be on the increase as far as people want to be showing off their flamboyant lifestyle, and this is also the very means that they can keep up with having that much followers, there only means of persuading them that they’re doing well and these followers can follow in their footsteps to make money too.

A crypto trader from the UK experience a crypto robbery and detailed the events of the incident.

Lack of privacy is always the cause of all this attacks including this one. Why do people have to know that you're trading unless you decide to brag about it online or try selling courses teaching people about trading when you know that it's their money that you're using as your source of income and not the profits you're making from trading because nothing tangible is coming from that part. Majority of the times this attacks are from people they have scammed previously and they're just paying back the same with robbery. The situation is different when from a burglary, your asstes get stolen but since you got targetted because you're a trader then it's all your fault. Your source of wealth should be hidden and kept safe that even if there's a break in they don't get easy access to your crypto holdings.
