However, what about those citizens who don't feel linked to this society? Does anyone feel to not share the same principles, values and common sense of your countrymen? How to live in a society you don't develop any bonds with your leaders and with the people who put them there?

Do you know how it feels to be a cuckoo in the nest?

Brother, when it comes to politics, politics is no longer like it was in the past, now the only consciousness in politics is to earn money. The rights of the people have been deprived, when the leaders come for votes, they hold the people's hands and legs and form a bond for some time. But after the elections, the leaders disappear and start living a luxurious life, the people around the leader enjoy life but the people are only loved for a short time.
Therefore, the leaders no longer have much in common with the people, due to which the people have been deprived of realizing their rights.

Politics? What should politics be about?
Of the well-being of citizens and not of their own interests.
If we look at the World level, what are leaders doing for their people?
Those who have delusions of grandeur, those who profess to be resolvers and instead undermine a country, those who seek allies to advance their ideology.
They spend their time accusing each other (making it clear that they are better), who is better?
Nobody!
Let me give you an example of the current situation in Italy (this Meloni government). During the elections, they said they would remove or lower fuel excise duties. It was done exactly the opposite. After the war launched against Iran, they devastated the global economy and brought the agriculture and transport sector to its knees in Italy (without having a recovery plan or aid).
Instead, they have well thought of spending 14 billion on rearmament (certainly it is important to know how to defend yourself) but if you do not have a productive population you risk sending a nation to collapse.
We all know that agriculture is the basis for the population (without food you can't eat) if you increase fuel you increase costs at the supermarket, but the problem that salaries are stuck at those of 1990 (converted into euros).
Was all this meant for the people? Absolutely not, this applies to all states.
Paradoxically, because of how many mistakes Bukele made, he had a brilliant idea, which is then working poorly or at least not as hoped, but he tried and continues to do so, giving the population a chance to grow.
The point is simple if my population is in good physical and economic health, the country will grow. Otherwise, if health is lacking and economic resources are barely sufficient, they will surely try to survive, not grow.

Yes, I know how it feels uneng  Embarrassed. Every day I wake up in this country, sometimes I wish I were dreaming, but it's obviously reality.
Aside from going to my office, I'm always at home. I don't interact with neighbours, and I barely have people I call close friends. The friend I have visits me once in a while since I don't go out to visit.

The fact that the culture here and the mentality of the people here is not how I picture my life to be. Japan and Switzerland are two countries that best fit my character and societal culture.
I hope you succeed at some point in reaching closer to the ideal of societal culture you have in mind. I guess that is what all of us are trying. I don't mean turning your country into a Japan or Switzerland, because it's out of your control, rather being able to access new environments where you can connect yourself to those places and to the people there satisfactorily. Maybe you can travel to those countries someday and experience for real if they meet your expectations.

Living as an outsider inside society is most times being described as social estrangement (the feeling of being disconnected from society or other people). This is apply to a situation where, you work same job, walk on same street and buys from same market yet operating on a different psychological or emotional frequency.
Now, humans are tribal creatures coded to seek the feeling of belongings or group safety and so when someone sensed that they do not belong to a particular match, so many thoughts comes in, the brain records social exclusion to survive on. This happens because of rigid exceptions, tribal instincts of the surrounding groups or even mix of biological traits and values.it is very common in our society today.

Much is said in this forum section about the importance of the government in our lives, and how wonderful it's for citizens to choose their leaders.

However, what about those citizens who don't feel linked to this society? Does anyone feel to not share the same principles, values and common sense of your countrymen? How to live in a society you don't develop any bonds with your leaders and with the people who put them there?

What I think is, you don't need to have a personal bond with your leaders. In fact, I believe a decent number of people in so many countries don't actually like politicians and those in government, but that shouldn't be enough reason to overlook certain responsibilities as a citizen. Voting is a right, and it should be something you are always willing to participate in because a collective effort eventually decides who becomes a ruler. If a particular person decides not to show interest in anything... That's already a minus.

And as for the society, you also don't really have to a big part of it. Just be you, stick to what you believe in especially when it is morally justified, and doesn't affect anyone directly.

I believe you don’t have to like your leader to fulfill your responsibilities as a citizen, voting is a right thing and every vote count in shaping the future of a nation, likewise you don’t have to please society or fit into very circle, so voting is very important is something people should take seriously because the collective decision of the citizens ultimately influences who get elected in power.

It is really exhausting when you live in a society where people are not really thinking the same way with you and the government are just doing things that are very abstract from how you wish they could do. Honestly, it is so weird to live as though you are not part of a society you live in or come from. I can't even remember the last time I listened to a news in my country because it's just same ideology, nothing new. The government are never thinking of doing things differently from how you've always known them. In such a situation you will feel detached from the reality that happens around thr society.
The surrounding environment matters for living, because we absorb a lot of things from our surroundings and then apply them in other places. But if our mindset doesn't match the people around us or the government policies, then the situation becomes extremely bad for us. People who have leadership qualities want to change the community with their ideas by giving better opportunities, but if the people and the environment don't support their ideas, then they lose hope of revolution. Can we survive with critical ideas in that environment. I think it's very difficult to convince people to change their mindsets, and challenging government policies is also a very difficult task.

I think it's not fair to lose hope and stop trying to improve the nation. We should find people who agree with us even a little, and through them we can bring a small change in our societies. With the passage of time, people's mindsets change gradually, and people start to understand the reality. So even ordinary individuals can achieve this difficult assignment, but what we require is a positive and creative mindset.

Sometimes being an outsider is not just about where we live but also about how we define our place among others. You may not share the values of the majority but that does not mean that there is nothing to learn from the people around you. Even in an environment you disagree with, there may be people whose potential are overlooked just because they don’t think or express themselves just the way you do.

So I feel it best to just maintain your principles without becoming so detached that you stop seeing people as individuals instead of judging them by their environment.
It is good to set your principles or live accordingly, but yes those who dare to adopt such behaviour usually face criticism from the society. Here loneliness doesn't not mean that a person feel physical disconnection but it means that you are surrounded by the people but emotionally no one is there to understand your emotions. In such cases few of us create distance or try to keep hide what actually they think or like.

In my society unfortunately this distraction is going increase day by day due to economic issues. Those who are fail to build strong status, earn low salary job, live in rented house, struggling in school expenses and much more try to avoid friends and family gathering, outdoor parties or even any celebrations. Because they cannot afford all these with limited income, or because they know that people cannot understand their helplessness. So sometimes isolation is not choice but it is because of hard time that force them to do withdraw from society.

Living as an outsider inside society

But at the same time, there are many insiders (money mongers) living as outsiders in society... because they have legally stolen so much money that they would never live like a society insider with all their wealth.

Voting is a right, but it won't change the outcome, so why vote Cheesy.

I'm not against voting. Sometimes when I feel like voting, I do. All I'm against is voting when the vote does not count in shaping the future, as you mentioned above. To make things simple and clear, voting is not a compulsory responsibility of a citizen, but rather a choice to make.

Well, people do not choose where they want to be born, so realistically there would always be the need to blend into any society you see yourself. Even when your ideas and beliefs are different from your surrounding environment, the law is binding on you that you act within the capacity of the citizen of that country, you can't possibly bring the western culture to Africa and not expect that people look at you differently.

There is this popular saying that "when you go to Rome, behave like the Romans", that's entirely applicable in this situation and that cannot be compromised.

You don't really have to belong in a space to live well and comfortably! It is not a curse to stay where you don't belong, in fact, it should be considered freedom if you ask me because if you reason it, you will not have to succumb to their social or traditional norms or religious values. No need to pretend, just live your life freely, pay your dues and bills. Where people usually find problems is when they have the expectation that people will naturally get them. People won't get you because they are not mind readers, so just go about doing your thing and stop expecting. And these days you can create your own circle of even online and build your own audience in the digital world.
It is not always freedom to live as an outsider in a society; we human beings are social creatures and sometimes we need acceptance and understanding from the people around us and we also need support in certain things. Ignoring the norms of a society sometime is create unnecessary conflicts specially when we work with others and live with them.

I don't think that every social value or tradition is bad; sometimes they exist in a society to promote mutual respect, responsibility and also peace there. Building online relationships is okay but it is not going to replace real life partnership and support from the friends and people around you. Being different is completely okay but just using the difference as the basic reason to disconnect oneself from society can make life difficult in longer.

Those who do not fit in could become independent,  possibly live seperately and not be told how to live their lives if they are more moral/ethical.
The seperation is already there but can't be seen. Like-minded individuals are more connected and grouped together regardless of where they live. Distances or physical boundaries do not matter in this case. And they have their leaders and their own agenda. Then they cross path while pursuing their interests on virtual network like the internet

This is facts, I think the idea of putting the society and especially the leaders in front for being a shut in is overrated, I think it's a psychological problem for someone to be detached from everyone because fundamental even in the worse case scenario, there is still someone that had this same opinion with you.

I'm still trying to digest what you mean by living in as an outsider in the society. How can you live in a society and you aren't connected with their way of lives, like the way they do things. If that's the case then you will have to move away from such people because you will live a boring and unhappy life around them. You must not align with everything they do but you cannot be totally disconnected from them no matter how bad they are. I know that some times we do get tired when a government is not doing things that pleases us but the society is a part of you, so don't be disconnected from them. You can still give your opinion on issues and reason with like minds because there are people who will reason same way with you.
