Cryptocurrencies have come and gone, with new ones replacing old ones over time.
And in most cases, one piece of junk just replaces another.

We've had many "gems" in the space, only to vanish due to loss of interest.
If these "gems" have vanished into oblivion, it means those projects proved useless. It’s a form of "natural selection" - dead-end branches of evolution that have withered away.
Just think about it: does humanity really need countless different cryptocurrencies? A separate coin for every single action? That’s just absurd.
As for "gems", I mean old projects (now defunct) with unique features, often driven by utility instead of hype/speculation.
If there were any real utility, these projects would have "survived". Since they failed to do so, what kind of utility are we even talking about?
Wouldn't it be great to have all of the source code and binaries of defunct cryptocurrencies in a single place? Such place would act as a "Digital Crypto Museum" for generations to enjoy.
Why bother? Future generations will be able to create more technologically advanced source code (with the help of AI). After all, you don’t use software from the 80s, do you? In the same way, these "gems" will end up being (or already are) obsolete.
Sort of like a virtual time-capsule. Maybe the content would be stored on a decentralized CDN such as IPFS for long-term preservation? The website would just serve as the front-end interface for people to access cryptocurrency resources within IPFS.
Why create yet another dump for useless trash that nobody needs?

I know that GitHub hosts most (if not all) of cryptocurrencies' repositories with their source code. But what if it gets shut down all of a sudden? That's where the "Digital Crypto Museum" comes in.
Thoughts?

I suppose if someone has nothing better to do, they could start bringing your idea to life.

Actually, a museum of this kind (with partial functionality) already exists - take coinmarketcap (or something similar), for example.
