Does Banning Online Gambling Protect People or Push Them to Unregulated Casinos?

Banning online gambling can protect people from online gambling and can also push others to use unregulated casinos, the main focus is to cut down gambling addiction but at the end of the day it could make it worse for some gamblers, this has an advantage and also a disadvantage, a lot of gamblers might start leaning towards casinos that are illegal which might make them to end up getting scammed.

in some cases it could also lead people to underground gambling which is going to increase the rate of crimes being committed in the country. placing a ban on gambling doesn't totally eliminate gambling in a country, this is because a lot of people are still going to find a way to gamble.

A ban may not necessarily push players to unregulated casinos,remember everyone has their own preferences and most people only use regulated gambling sites while most people as well may not consider unregulated gambling sites as threats so they would move into gambling in an unregulated gambling casinos as an alternative even if it happens to be banned in their region.As a gambler i always find it absurd whenever I come across a news about government banning gambling sites in their country,if really gambling addiction isn’t the only addiction on earth then it would wise if they tackle other aspects of addictions from the masses.They can ban gambling in their country but they can’t terminate it entirely because an alternative would always be.

Do you think Government are not aware of this , they know what to do ,how to do and when to do everything but uf it's not for their gain they won't do it, do you think Government ban gambling online sute because of children rights? That's big lie, they do it because they couldn't agree on license fund, when a gambling sire couldn't pay Government they ban it using children rights to cover up their mess.

It's very hard to ban gambling in this era, people will still gamble with VPN access,  the best way is to strengthen a campaign against gambling addiction and the danger of gambling to the society,  this will help children to know what's up to them in the future in they gamble. Government doesn't care, since the gambling sites are paying them money. Families has the responsibility to speak against underage betting in family meeting.

Yes It's very important to raise awareness to people about the risk involved in gambling, but I don't think it's right for you to say that the government is using the children's rights as a cover to take money from gambling companies. Even though financial interest might be their main aim when making some decisions, I actually believe that the government might be really concerned about gambling addiction.

To some extent, family education can help most especially at the early age, but I don’t believe that alone is enough. Gambling platforms also have some part to play when it comes to preventing underage people from gambling in their site, and it will really make sense if the government helps in making sure these casino's obey the rules.  Gambling cannot be completely banned but doing the necessary things can help reduce some damages.

Placing a pan on gambling does not stop people to misbehave when they are to do anything they find interesting to their taste

There are some things that the government are doing to deprive their citizens of their rights and freedom, example is a ban on gambling sites. All adults supposed to be allowed to gamble. It is left for people to decide to gamble or not to gamble. This is exactly what you also later posted, but you first added misbehave. The citizen are not misbehaving, the government are not just given them the freedom they need. Gambling is different from killing or doing hard drugs.

My question is this. Rather than banning online gambling totally, would it be better for government to regulate it properly, protect players and punish casinos that failed to follow the rules? Or do you guys think the best thing is to ban gambling totally to protect citizens from harm?

A working government should be able to tell that gamblers will never stop gambling even if they stop or ban online gambling on the country. Before online gambling, there are other traditional means of gambling. If it becomes so severe that they can’t handle, they may switch to those forms of gambling again which regulation becomes even stricter. It is better they put down the rules to protect gamblers from fraudulent casinos and unregulated ones that are after stealing customer’s funds.

Also engage its people on the proper use and channeling of their resources and also let them know the implication of gambling in their life’s if they become so addicted to it. Government plays the bigger roles here and it depend on how they handle it that they’ll see the result.

I mean if the whole gambling thing was banned on your country that just means that you can't gamble or it is illegal to gamble depends on the country or how dip the banned is if there are laws that you are not allowed to do it then you might get in trouble if you do gamble. Then it is not worth it to risk it just to do gambling, unless it is somekind of investment like cryptocurrency I don't think it is worth it to risk the trouble for that.

It is for sure better for the government to regulate them but not all of them is going to comply especially because most of them are online platforms from overseas, you can't expect them to comply unless they are local gambling platforms, or they do licensing on your country. Here in my country there was a similar thing so license gambling platform are the only platform that is allowed and all of the other gambling platforms are going to be block through your ISP, it wasn't a complete block but they are block if you don't know how to bypass it you cannot access it.

Just like you said OP, folks will still look for ways around government bans to gamble nevertheless in that country.. Majority of us here will agree with me that some gamblers even make use of VPN's at times to access casinos in other countries just to keep their gambling habits going especially since they are literally millions of casino out there to pick from... However if the government can regulate gambling not only will it be beneficial to the gamblers, it will as well be beneficial to the government as well as the whole country at large considering the taxes and all other fees that licensed operational casino could generate for the country... Then again, folks should understand that regulated casino wouldn't still be a complete solution to all gambling related problems, coz folks will still develop addiction and still lose their funds due to poor decisions making as well as even fall into other problems...However regulation will still ensure that rules are in place that makes it easier for folks to report any sort of unfair treatment which would at least hold this casino's accountable for any and every of their actions...

I think proper regulation is worth considering because if they are to ban online gambling completely that can only only push some people towards going for illegal or unregulated platforms where they have little or no protection so regulation is the best at least with regulation, the government can monitor the users snd protect players, and also restrict underage access very very important and if possible punish casinos that violate the rules and I think there should also be limits on gambling advertisements and limit how one should place a bet because regulation alone cannot stop gambling addiction.

Not all countries can make gambling legal. You can see in most Muslim dominant countries that gambling is not allowed. I also think the numbers of people gambling in such countries is reduced because of their religion.

But if not because of religion, I do not see a good reason gambling should be illegalized just like what happened in Brazil recently. So fast gambling is known to people in such country, they will go for unregulated gambling if gambling sites are banned.

I think so too, because that is what happened in my country. Gambling was once legal in Indonesia, but then it was decriminalized for several reasons, one of which was that it didn't align with the religious beliefs of the majority. At the time, gambling in Indonesia was instrumental in economic growth, whether through infrastructure development, or other means. Ultimately, many Indonesians turned to illegal gambling.

In my opinion, banning gambling doesn't actually stop people from gambling, as there are still so many ways to do it. What the government needs to do is educate, and limit it through regulation; so it can still be controlled. Plus, the economic circulation will also not widen, so that the country itself benefits.
