Both Tesla and SpaceX are reportedly exploring a possible merger, and this would result in combined Bitcoin holdings of 30,221 BTC.

Quote
CompanyBitcoin Holdings
Tesla11,509 BTC
SpaceX18,712 BTC
Combined30,221 BTC

If the merger happens, this could put them in the top 6 among the largest corporate Bitcoin holders based on the following list.

Quote
RankCompanyBTC Holdings
1Strategy848,517
2Metaplanet44,000
3Twenty One Capital43,514
4Strive36,818
5MARA Holdings35,577
6Tesla + SpaceX (Hypothetical)30,221

Note: This is a selected list based on reported holdings

Tesla and SpaceX's potential merger is quite different compared to those in the list because their businesses are not related to Bitcoin, unlike Strategy, Metaplanet, and other companies whose main strategy is to accumulate Bitcoin.

So if we exclude them, Tesla + SpaceX could become one of the largest corporate Bitcoin holders outside the crypto industry. I am just trying to emphasize this here so they will be recognized, and since I believe they could be in for a long-term hold, considering they started acquiring Bitcoin in 2021 and have already gained over 100% in unrealized profits, assuming their average cost per BTC is around $35k.

If we translate that to the current price that's already over $1 billion in unrealized gains. There's no guarantee they won't sell as Tesla has sold Bitcoin before but hopefully this time they will keep holding.

They have sold before and nothing is stopping them from selling again which they will.
SpaceX is currently seventh or semi seventh but it really doesn't change much or affect bitcoin in any way.
Tbs this could have been more impactful if it was to discuss how the merger may benefit both companies.

They have sold before and nothing is stopping them from selling again which they will.
They sold a big portion before worth a total of $1 billion and made a profit of almost $200 million,
And now they are holding almost $1 billion worth of Bitcoin, they will probably hold it long term now that the Bitcoin market is more regulated, they might at least want to keep some Bitcoin for themselves, you know for the future, who knows they might even buy more if the merger finally happens.

SpaceX is currently seventh or semi seventh but it really doesn't change much or affect bitcoin in any way.
Not directly, but indirectly it could affect how people see Bitcoin, it could increase their confidence in Bitcoin.

Tbs this could have been more impactful if it was to discuss how the merger may benefit both companies.

Exactly, but that would be more about their development as companies, as they could both help each other meet the growing demand for AI, robotics, and space exploration.

While I may not see the emergence of the Tesla and SpaceX companies not bring a different influence to the Bitcoin industry at the moment, the only great thing there is that the total holding of the companies after joined together will become huge comparing to when they have different portfolios.

However, I am sensing some strategic moves of Elon Musk over this peak.
And according to your spreadsheet and analysis of the top Bitcoin holders which will emerge these coalition public traded companies the top 6 Bitcoin holders, i won't be surprised if the coalition companies pushes forward to acquiring more Bitcoins than their regular schedules of buying Bitcoin which accumulation strategies could emerge them in the top 5-3 of Bitcoin holders in no distance time.

I trust the SpaceX CEO always impose positive energies to standout. Therefore I also hope to see the company being highly recognized in the Bitcoin market with potential influences it may attributes.

The Tesla and SpaceX merger is not a too strange and impossible thing because both companies owned by a same owner Elon Musk.

It's Unrealized gain but with Bitcoin if they can hold their bitcoins more years, the Unrealized gains will become bigger.

Quote

It's very unrealistic to think that Bitcoin investors won't sell their bitcoins even they are either retail investors or institutional investors. I have never believed so but with sells from Strategy months ago even in years they said they won't sell bitcoins, I believe that many people were enlightened a little bit. After that action from Strategy, perhaps many people no longer believe in such sayings, from Saylor or any other business people.

It's cool numbers but I wouldn't really take the “6th” too seriously. Even OP states that it's a selected list, it's still just 6th among the companies listed here. If there’s another company holding between 30k and 44k BTC that isn’t on the list, the ranking changes. The merger is also still in its review stage and so it will be “what if” for the time being.

Not certain about the average cost of $35k either. Sounds like a guess, so I would take the $1B+ increase as a ball-park figure. Same with SpaceX: it’s private, so I’m curious how anyone knows the 18,712 BTC number.

I'm not as optimistic about holding onto a long-term investment. Tesla already sold, and a larger unified entity could very well view Bitcoin as an asset on the balance sheet. However, I believe more important is to see whether they actually reveal their BTC policy once the Merge starts to be a reality. That would tell us more than any ranking.

How will it affect Bitcoin? Probably small. 30k BTC is not all that much of the total supply. I have no idea how much it helps the picture, but, that is about it.

They have sold before and nothing is stopping them from selling again which they will.
...

There is no doubt that if they sold previously, they will sell again once they again reach their targeted point. Elon Musk is a businessman mentality kind of person who seeks more benefits and profits. And when it comes to this point, we all know that in every kind of investment, "profit" is the common thing. So, keeping this in mind, there are chances they can sell again in the future.

Aside from this, I can be wrong, but merging both companies don't connect to benefiting the Bitcoin market at any point until they disclose that they will start to accumulate more Bitcoin for the long-term purpose, jointly. Even after the two companies merge, their current Bitcoin accumulation still means constant holding by adding them together. So, the bullish sign in my point of view is that if both companies after being merged shows thier interets to accumulate more Bitcoin for the long term. This way, the Bitcoin market can show some good results. This is my point of view.

It's a massive stack for a non-bitcoin company, sure, but don't hold your breath on them hodling it forever. Knowing Elon's track record, he'll probably paper-hand half of it the second X needs to pay its server bills, or when he decides to fund a Dogecoin mining rig on Mars.

It was disclosed on their filing with SEC. You can verify the full details below.

They have sold before and nothing is stopping them from selling again which they will.
According to the source of the information read.
2021-in March, Tesla sold 10% ownership of BTC.
2022-in July, Tesla sells 75% ownership of BTC.

After that, until now Tesla has not sold again, the matter can not stop then there is a possibility in the future do sell again.

How will it affect Bitcoin? Probably small. 30k BTC is not all that much of the total supply. I have no idea how much it helps the picture, but, that is about it.
There is no effect at all on the price of bitcoin to date, the BTC is not moving and they will not sell until a certain time limit, even Microstrategies that have 800K more BTC with announced purchases sometimes do not make the price of bitcoin rise significantly.

I would love it if they accepted Bitcoin again. Even if it was just for merchandise or something. Tesla accepting Bitcoin was a big signal to the rest of the world but they tried doing too much letting people buy cars with it. They should’ve started small with the merchandise and let it grow from there instead of going all in and then backing off.

Ranks don't matter to them even if they do this merger, because they have boasted about their BTC holdings once before and they're going sell again if they see it again happening and looking forward for that profit. They might have a lot of Bitcoin but, there's nothing from us that could hold them down from not selling. Why is it that if it is with these companies, we're already thinking about them that shall start selling soon? Because they did it before.

No one can hold bitcoin forever without selling part of it and Tesla will still sell more bitcoin in future after the merge. If Strategy can sell part of their bitcoin holdings after Michael Saylor said that you should sell your kidney and buy bitcoin, it means that any big company can still sell based on their own personal reasons. I don't take any word of Elon Musk seriously.

Tbh I'm more interested in the news about Tesla and SpaceX merging than how much Bitcoin they hold. The amount of Bitcoin they own isn't really that significant --- even if they sold it, it wouldn't really affect the market.

I even think Musk might be purposefully letting those Bitcoins just sit there like assets not be "that valuable", considering the huge valuation of the companies he owns. If he wanted, he could just sell them to buy his kid a fancy mansion.

Well both are owned by same entity anyway..
After that, until now Tesla has not sold again, the matter can not stop then there is a possibility in the future do sell again.
Not a possibility, they will sell  in future. Future with a time frame is only what can hold possibility, probably the next bull run [just like they sold in the last bull run 2021] or when they need to settle some of their expenses.

Everyone is gonna sell in the future anyway.. in one way or the other  Smiley. Sell doesn’t necessarily have to be exchanging for fiat btw..

They have sold before and nothing is stopping them from selling again which they will.
SpaceX is currently seventh or semi seventh but it really doesn't change much or affect bitcoin in any way.
Tbs this could have been more impactful if it was to discuss how the merger may benefit both companies.

There doesn't have to be an outright or obvious benefit for them to merge, both companies are basically under the same person so it's more like just bringing them both together for 'bringing together' sake but this doesn't eliminate the benefits the merger is likely to bring if/when it happens.

Their ranking won't make much difference if at the end of the day they end up selling their entire holdings, the amount of bitcoin they hold is frankly little compared to the companies valuations, plus it's also very likely that they could decide to buy more with or without the merger but I don't think that a priority right now.

Yesterday is history, Tomorrow is a mystery, but Today is a gift, That is why it is called PRESENT!!!

There should be a synergy
The idea of a merger was brought up for a reason.
Majority share are owned by similar person but the strength are different
He owns more percent in Space than Tesla and with the merger depending on the terms
His control in weight could increase.

If Strategy can sell part of their bitcoin holdings after Michael Saylor said that you should sell your kidney and buy bitcoin, it means that any big company can still sell based on their own personal reasons. I don't take any word of Elon Musk seriously.
Well Michael saylor is well
Integrity isn't really his strong suite.

Firstly, I couldnt give a $hit about either Tesla or Spacex

Secondly, I see this as something resembling the analogy below:

I have two bags, one has 3 pebbles and the other has 5 pebbles, I find it difficult ti keep track
of them so I decided to buy a third bag and just empty the pebbles from the other two bage
into it......I now only gave 1 bag - yay!

Ok O know thats a very simple analogy but to me the article is about Musk juggling his assets
probably in order to make more wealth for himself primarily.

He is a business man that do what's best for him, not because he think Bitcoin is superior as investment. When he said Bitcoin will be accepted for Tesla products, do you know how exited everyone were that time, he used the same to tell everyone that Bitcoin is suspended because of environmental concern and he couldn't even defend it. You think if that was his products was belittle that way, you know he is going to media with them and make sure he win but he did worse and sold more than half of their Bitcoin sheet.

If the both companies are not interested in Bitcoin reserve, forget this story that are flying around. If Elon Musk has interest in buying Bitcoin than what they have now, he wouldn't make any announcements. He is good in playing the market ways. If they merge this balance, it will be for merge sake, nothing speculatar, nothing new, it's going to be the same quantity.

Your analogy is quite funny but hits at the core of what both companies owned by same person is actually doing.
While it's a strategic move to control more Bitcoin on balance sheet like strategy is doing,  the difference is that MSTR sells their Bitcoin at some point to offset debt while these companies just accumulate and have to problem with servicing their debts, as far as I know.
It's also a good example to bigger companies that they can hold Bitcoin for long term without it affecting their business and that there's no scare that Bitcoin would crash one day as originally was the scare that I think made Tesla sold some far back a few years.
