What is there to think about? Many online casinos that are brand new gives me unsafe feelings at first until they prove themselves wrong and build good reputation, I am not the type that tries out new casinos like that.

Some gamblers do this because brand new casinos comes with lots of good bonuses and offers, and I don't even look them up to the extent that I will want to go for them, I am good with popular online casinos like Rainbet and Stake.

When you are going to sign up for a new casino, do you think about your signup and how it is processed (a referral or not)? Do you think about it as supporting fellow members or is it something that never crosses your mind? I used to be somebody who doesn’t care when signing up for these sorts of services, but now I usually try to take advantage of signing up for something and use it as an opportunity to help someone I know with a referral. How about you?
Honestly, I am the kind of person who, when I go to explore a new casino from the gambling board, I just copy and paste the direct link from the Ann thread or click on someone else's banner and if the referral code comes up automatically, I remove the referral code and then sign up with my information there.
It may be a personal disease that I do not refer to anyone else. But yes, I have never thought of this thing before that if I create an account from the signature banner of the forum users, then there is a possibility of getting at least some benefit. Maybe in the future when I will create an account on new casino I'll click on the banner of those people whom I like.  Wink

I understand what you are saying especially because of the wide spread of casino scam posts in this forum and on social media, however you need to understand that new casinos are not the only casino that is scamming people, even old casinos that were trustworthy and reliable are also involve in scamming, take for example BC.Games that was a very reputable and trusted casino, right now they have a lot of scam acquisition that seems to be true.

It is not only bonus and other offers that attract people to new casinos, there are other games that may be in this new casino, that may attract people or there policy.

I dont really care about it, if someone ask me to register through his referral link then I can do it as long as I know him well. Otherwise, I will create an account directly from the link provided in the ANN thread of the casino but I will never ask someone for their referral link first. However, it will be good if you add one more option in the pool which is "using referral link because of a bonus offer". Out there, some streamers or reviewers may offer small bonuses, bigger rakeback (as part of a deal with the casino), or maybe an offer of referral commission share.
When you talk about knowing the person well, what do you mean? Are you referring to knowing the person personally or just a forum knowing of the person, and what difference does it make, especially if you know the link is a direct casino link and it’s not a clone? I really don’t care much as long as the person contacts me or I see the link and it’s not attached to anything that will redirect me to another place.

Honestly I also feel uneasy opening links from other people so I'd rather type the site into the search bar myself. I'd open a link from someone I know personally but only after calling them to make sure they really sent it and it's not someone who hacked their account.

Isn't that just basic security?

You actually make a very good point with that.  I hadn't really considered that some people might be uncomfortable with clicking a link to a 3rd party website.  I guess I have become used to right clicking and copying the link, then reviewing it myself before going to the site to make sure it is the correct url.  This is a practice everyone should use when clicking a link to an outside website, but I wouldn't blame people for using this as a reason to enter the url in manually and not want to bother with extra referral stuff...  I guess this is why campaign managers should only select trustworthy people to advertise for their sites.

When I voted on this poll this was the distribution of the votes:
Quote
Type the URL directly (nobody gets my referral!)    - 10 (27%)
Click the first banner you see (who cares?)    - 8 (21.6%)
Find someone you want to support and click their banner (happy to support)    - 9 (24.3%)
Don’t really think about it (huh?)    - 10 (27%)

Total Voters: 37
It shows that there is a pretty balanced answer to this question which means that there is no consensus on what is the right answer, people are choosing their own decision here. I voted in the first part and there is a specific reason why. We see people promoting gambling everywhere in different ways, some have their reasons or others have financial reasons like on this forum. That is acceptable to me, but there is a trouble with that. So many people are quick to promote them, but nobody wants to take responsibility. So if someone refers me to a casino they want to earn money from me forever, but if I have any issues with it they want to ignore me. Classic referrals don't involve such a direct relationship, but I don't think this is fair. If you want to earn so much, you need to deserve it and based on past cases I now refuse to use other people's referrals.

Isn't that just basic security?

Being cautious with links is fine but typing site names into search engines has its own risks. Malicious actors routinely run fake Google ads that look identical to legit casinos just to catch people searching manually. As long as you hover over a referral link to confirm the root domain matches the official site, you're safe. Once you navigate there, bookmarking the legit page is way safer than searching for it every single time.

A great use for AI that I’ve found is to have it go through and verify things like emails are from legitimate sources before you even see them. Same with downloaded files. When you look at how simple it is to implement things like this and how much more in depth they go than a normal human would, it makes you wonder how many people could have been saved by this technology. I’m sure implementing something to check links wouldn’t be hard either.

How about you?
To be honest, I have met most of the casinos that I played through this forum, At that time I played almost all the poker tournament. So to say, I have signed up for most of the casinos through the forum links. I have signed up for very few casinos through my friend's referral link. And I trust the casinos on the forum because when I enter the ANN thread here, I get a good overview of that casino and in that case I don't have to worry about its trustworthiness.

And the malicious/clone link ads which are being promoted on Google always appear to be most recommended and on top of which there is a high chance you could click on them first before even gaining access to the original domain. It's as dangerous as those who try to memorize the domain. One error can lead to a fishing site.

When I am signing up somewhere myself, I don't give much priority to referrals, but if someone suggests me to sign up or I find someone, I will definitely sign up there with the referral link. If someone benefits from my signup, then I have no loss. Although I don't give much importance to signing up and searching referrer. There are some gamblers who seem to be biased. This is certainly a very important issue for those who are interested in getting referral bonuses, but who don't have the referral facility, they never think about referrals. If there is no mandatory work, then I will definitely not use referrals.

Sure, I will give example with a friend of mine . So a friend of mine end up partnering with a certain broker , so to support him I had to register with that same broker . But I didn’t rush and make use of it once , took my time to play around it and do some research cause any funds that’s going into the broker is my hard earned money , so any wrong move will cost me my funds.

So yeah if a friend of mine send me a casinos referral link . I will first check if the link is safe then register with them in order for he or she to earn some commission then deposit and make use of it after confirming the platform is trustworthy.

I am actually like you have described yourself in the past. I usually just sign up without thinking of how it is processed or anything else aside from a few times where on the forum I had to directly click on the banner. Maybe why I haven’t used a referral link is because a friend is yet to send me that. I totally avoid referral links from those sports betting influencers on social media I do not consider them reputable or genuine.

You don't even need AI for that, we already have tools built specifically for this. I personally use VirusTotal professionally to check suspicious links, domains and files. It's an aggregator that scans any URL or file hash against over 70 different security vendors and antivirus engines in real time. It inspects everything from backend IP mappings and SSL certs to redirects and dynamic sandbox behavior. If a link is part of a new phishing campaign or drainer setup, at least a few engines will flag it right away. It's essentially the industry standard for instant threat verification without taking any risk on your local machine.

When signing up for a new casino platform, I sign up by entering the link directly. I don't try to sign up with someone's reference or tell anyone about my referral. I sign up directly by entering my referral link. Not just casino platforms, I never think about referrals when signing up for anything, exchanges or other websites. I sign up directly because all these referral links can sometimes be a source of annoyance to someone, which is why I don't tell anyone.

Honestly, I am the kind of person who, when I go to explore a new casino from the gambling board, I just copy and paste the direct link from the Ann thread or click on someone else's banner and if the referral code comes up automatically, I remove the referral code and then sign up with my information there.
~

I did the same thing, just went to the gambling board and check if there's a new casino pop up, if the link has a refferal, I assume it will be used to track the activity from the Bitcointalk forum so the marketing team or the owner can see if the forum bringing traffic or not. Then if they think the forum bring good amount of traffic they probably will consider to launching a signature campaign to spread more about the website.

Ya, but antivirus tools are useless for 0-day bugs or PGP signatures to verify the authenticity of a download. There are lots of ways to slip malicious actions passed traditional anti-virus software. While I am all for not relying on AI, it would take many tools and a lot of time to get the same level of security yourself.

Many people take referral systems lightly ( or even ignore them entirely) but they are actually quite important. Depending on who you sign up through, referral links can come with specific perks; for instance, simply being part of a certain community might grant you extra benefits. In the world of poker, for example, using a referral link can sometimes give you access to exclusive freeroll tournaments. Take BTCGosu, for example: they used to offer deposit insurance, hold giveaways, host competitions, and more. I’m not sure what it’s like now (the ownership has changed) but back in its prime, they offered all those things. So, it’s not just about clicking a referral link to look cool; there’s real value to be had.

I usually stick to casinos that I have played in the past, that mostly is narrowed down to 2-3 only. I rarely try new ones, because of being part of the old skool bitcoin users, I stick to the OG casinos only.

But if someone asks me about using their referral, I would be honest and not use that, edit out the referral and use it. Also because most people have accounts on OG sites already making a new one there under someone's referral, I would expect them to give me something back in return, like half of the commission at least, so that I continue to play there or else I will just use a non referred account.
